MGSV - Voice actress for The Boss working on The Phantom Pain!?

No, not really.

Without going on a long, detailed rant about every dumb as fuck thing that happened during MGS4 and PW (as I'm sure GAF has seen plenty of those), I will have to just respectfully disagree with your personal assessment of the situation.

I desperately hope Kojima has SOME kind of editor nearby while he's working on Phantom Pain. I like the broad strokes of his stories, but the nitty grits are...well you know.

I also respectfully disagree with your opinion. Those games were fine and worthy of all the great scores they got.

Looks like Skull Face to me.
I just hope they bring back the greatest main theme ever made.

a few more hints why Solid Snake will be in MGSV.

Gameinformer's MGSV cover story was the hub this image:

aaand ...if you edit the pic you can see Solid Snake in the background. This is pretty much the biggest hint.

It's the same art as from the essential collection. Definitely Solid Snake.

Second hint: Yoji Shinkawa lately has been drawing Solid Snake on a few events.

I don't really get how "Solid Snake" would be in this game if it is set in the 80s. He'd be a teen. Perhaps he'll be in it the same way how Liquid is in it as a young teenager. Either way, I can't see Snake being old enough to be voiced by David Hayter.

I think we will see both, young Liquid and Solid and then later a time skip happens where we play as older Solid Snake (voiced by David Hayter) fighting against Big Boss (Kiefer Sutherland)

I mean seriously, how can you still not be sure Solid Snake is in the game when you see this picture?

There are these things called epilogues.

Time jump and the fact that he was born with accelerated aging, in fact it's completely possible that we'll see multiple time jumps forwards and backwards.

Who knows really, all I know is I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT.

Like which ones? Remember, a retcon is a change in a previously established canon. Expansions do not count as retcons.

Retcon is retroactively changing the continuity, I suppose that's really up to interpretation, but since we appear to disagree on this I don't really see any merit in trying to change each others minds on that aspect of it.

Regardless of whether or not you view something that has been explained as retcon or not there are plenty of thing sin the Metal Gear Series that directly contradict previously established canon, with no explanation.

Some of the things that were retconned with no explanation include off hand:

Big Boss was established as losing his eye in the 80s but when they made Metal Gear Solid 3 they changed it so it happened in that game instead which took place in the 60s. They also changed Boss' age making him around 20 years younger.

Miller's ethic background and name were changed.

Dr. Madnar was killed by Snake in Metal gear 2 but in metal gear Solid 4 he is alive and well and no explanation of any sort is given.

Rose says in Metal Gear Solid 4 that she met Campbell while he was Raiden's commanding officer, however the end of MGS 2 established that Campbell wasn't actually his superior and was actually GW giving him orders.

The list of the patriots Otacon got from the Partiot's computers had a list of them on it, but they had all died 100 years prior, predating the creation of the patriots as established in the later games.

The names on the list are of the Wisemen's Committee

A Masterpiece.

I can't freaking wait to hear what Harry Gregson-Williams is doing with MGSV, hopefully we get a taste of his music in the new E3 trailer.

GAWD THE HYPE IS KILLING ME!

Yeah, Gregson-Williams always brings it. Is Ludvig Forsell sharing composing duties with him? He's still on the Kojima Station episodes so I guess he's doing some work on the project as well.

People are honestly still worried about continuity?
Peace Walker ended with Mecha The Boss saving the world from nuclear war, literally by singing a song. She can come back as a vengeful zombie at this point and that wouldn't really surprise me.

It was just an AI modeled on her, that wasn't The Boss, she's still dead. It didn't save the world by singing a song either,
it did that by drowning itself.

I'm not sure you're using either of those words right

She "saves the world" by sacrificing herself and walking into the ocean, not just by singing

Of course, your point about how ridiculous it is still stands

Aokage

Pretty nice guy (apart from the blue shadows thing...)
Considering Kojima uses Kikuko Inoue (The Boss's Japanese VA) playing different characters in every freaking game he makes, maybe this isn't so surprising.

I see where this is going. Shodown of the bosses. Boss Vs. Big Boss Vs. Liquid Vs. Solid Vs. Solidous

Its too ridiculous for Kojima not to do it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiPon8lr48U
It won't because before Portable Ops came out, Kojima was approached by someone claiming that Tappy stole it from a Russian classical piece by Georgy Sviridov called The Snowstorm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1FtL4uIQ0c

That's why the section of the theme was removed from Showtime song of Portable Ops and hasn't been seen in the series since.

For example: This is the original version of Showtime played during the first Portable Ops trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mhU8e_S1qg

And this is the edited version used in later trailers and appeared on the ipod in MGS4: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAWyVIMNYZ4

The only version of the original theme that can still be used is the Encounter version from MGS 1 as it is different enough to not be considered infringement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnKeN9zIkoE

EDIT: Didn't mean to self-quote

Has anyone reached out to Game Informer to see if that image was provided to them as official artwork? Or is it something their own design team whipped up?

Why should they put Solid Snake in that artwork when they aren't even sure he's in the game?

The Boss? MGS5?

(EDIT: That is to say if it's just a flashback, I'd be extremely happy. If it's a retcon though - like bringing her back from the dead - I'll be extremely pissed. MGS3 was close to a perfect videogame as you could get in my eyes in terms of story (until TLOU) and The Boss was partly the reason why that was the case)

Trolling? A mistaken design artist thinking it was a young big boss? Who knows. I just don't want to get excited until I know that image exists outside Gameinformer's site

Trolling? doubtful.

Ok, let's say GI was stupid enough to think this is a young Big Boss.... then why is he almost invisible in the original picture? You can see Solid Snake only good if you play around with the brightness and contrast. They clearly dropped a hint there. and by they i mean Kojima and Co. i don't think Game Informer did anything with this pic.

Looks like it really is just the collection artwork. You can see the other guy tot he right of Solid.

Is the guy to the right of Solid Snake also Snake? Naked/Big Boss before eye patch? It's just using the colletion art with new Big Boss art put over where Big Boss is on the orignal collection art with the other drawings lightened up so as to make them less noticeable.

If it turns out not to just be flashbacks or hallucinations and she really does come back somehow I'm going to snap the game disc.

It's rather obvious that "Those Who Don't Exist" are just reincarnations of people that Snake has killed. Volgin in the hospital, now The Boss. I have a feeling that Snake is looking to Codetalker to find out why it's happening.
