I'm absolutely loving the desert aesthetic, and I have a big suspicion that the upper character is a female Spartan-IV tasked with bringing John back home.

Are people not allowed to express excitement for a series they love? Just getting some concept art and an official name is enough to excite some. No need to be a negative Nancy all the time.
I have no problem with people getting excited for a game that they want, but I don't see how announcing that a game isn't coming out this year is "dropping a bomb" in a good way. I'm just really confused, as delays are usually met with rage, not excitement.

I don't like that the Chief is on the bottom part of the cover art. He's the main character and the Xbox's mascot in my opinion so why is isn't he displayed as prominently as possible? I don't like the font either. Overall not a fan of this cover art.

On a less critical note I'm surprised that the Chief is still wearing his Mk. 6 armor after Halo 4s ending.

Perhaps chief is on top too...and the bottom is a reflection of him

If they were smart they'd use this opportunity to leverage the OTHER Platform they have that is flailing and could garner them a large spike in sales for the game:

Halo 5 on Windows 8 available on Steam.

Boosts Halo 5's potential audience tremendously, re-unite with an old fan base, bolster Windows 8, etc. It makes too much sense for them to actually do it.

I wish. But it's really not even worth thinking about. If Microsoft won't bring the old Halo games over, then they damn sure aren't putting a new-release on PC. Stop torturing yourself.

That doesn't make any sense.

Halo 5 will get people to buy their console and therefore buy into their ecosystem. Halo 5 on PC and XB1 would require more dev time for the sake of a little more software sales.

I doubt the upper character is anybody we've already seen. He seems to be a newer model of Spartan. The helmet looks vaguely Forerunner, but the battle rifle and armor design are clearly UNSC.

Sucks that the upper character is a dude, but I'm still very interested.

My dear man, you are terribly mistaken. As a professional Wheelman, I can say with absolute certainty that your opinion is factually incorrect.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Agreed the warthog controls are just right, we owned on standoff with the warthog - its jus the perfect balance of point and drive with decent physics. No need to over complicate it.

It was never said to be 2014, and recent rumors pointed to it being 2015 so that isn't really a shock, and I'm sure most people are fine with it getting the extra dev time. Plus they're saying we're getting some halo game this year (likely H2A) so it's all good.

Soften the blow of a bad NPD?

maybe, but I mean this is Halo.

Even though we all know one is coming they always save it for their big "Secret Reveal" at the end of their E3 presentations. Officially announcing it now and giving it a name and date takes out a lot of the "boom!" factor.

Plus if anything I think they announcements made earlier this week would have fed more into that.

Look, his visor is still cracked! I am guessing he is going to be going against this spartan. I think the cloak is what fans suspected from the trailer, it wasn't to protect him, it was to have him blend in because he went rogue.

Or both are the Chief, the top armour could be a new prototype Forerunner/Human tech hybrid sort of like how they did that with the Infinity.

*boner intensifies*

This will sell a Xbox One to me. My guess is Halo 2 anni this year with Halo 5 beta for next year if you buy it.

May get XB1 for holiday if they go this route.

Super stoked! Love the cover too.

I just had a horrifying thought... perhaps the other Spartan will become Johns replacement in the games to come.

How old is 117 now anyway? can't keep this shit up forever.

Take out all the extra crap that was added in Reach/4 (armour abilities, perks, general randomness) and this plus Sunset Overdrive would make me get an Xbox One.
If all that stuff is still in it though (seeing as 4 expanded on the shit that Reach started, I'll be very surprised if it's not), count me out.

I know, I agree. I was just thinking it was a possibility.

Can't believe they announced it so soon.

Hasn't MS already announced Halo 5 last E3?

They announced "Halo for Xbox One". Now they're giving it a title and wrapping a bit of proper marketing PR around it. It's an odd cadence; this is the kind of stuff I'd expect at E3, but then the Halo 2 anniversary will probably be then.

Na they'll definitely finish the forerunner trilogy with the MC

IIRC he's about 50 technically, but biologically younger when you factor in time spent in cryo

Odd they announced it early but I need some good Halo in my life. Halo 2 Anniversary will give me my fix until Halo 5 no doubt. Cant wait to see both games. Announcing a game is exciting but not as exciting as seeing it for the first time in all its e3 glory. They will have an awesome show and people will watch due to the Halo hype. Cant Wait!

You all lose me here. Fuck that, lets not make the game so damn bare bones. Fuck.

Just because there aren't any "perks" does not make the game barebones. SOCOM and Counter Strike provide great variety without the need of superhuman abilities, but it does not make sense to remove armor abilities when they are in super suits.

Gotcha.

I'm a little rusty with Halo facts. A testament to me anyway how forgettable 4's campaign was, he did indeed wake up from cryo I forgot.

Well now that we know what it's called, MS better give me some proper gameplay at E3. I can't wait.

Day 1 obvy.

plus he's got the physique of a 21-year old olympic athlete, his bone are unbreakable as well, and that stuff doesn't fade away, he'll probably be that limber well into his 80s, if not, forever.

Interesting. Lets see if they learned from their mistakes with Halo 4. I don't think that is the final box art. I hope some changes are made to the chief look.

He's 46 years old chronologically, but is a few years younger due to time spent in Cryo. Still, due to his augmentations, his age deterioration is slowed substantially. Avery Johnson had only a fraction of the biological augmentation that John was subject to, but was still incredibly sprightly in his late 60s.

That too. With all those fucked up augmentations they did on the Spartan II's in The Fall of reach they're hardly even human.
