Transfer for SSF4AE PC from GFWL to Steam announced, no GFWL DLC to be transferred

Look at the formatting, guys. DLC gets nuked for everyone. Why would the same codes bought from different stores, which are for the same game running on the same service, transfer to Steam from one store but not another?
I really hope they're not this stupid, or if they are they at least wisen up from backlash and just give it to everyone for free. It's shitty enough if you bought it off of GFWL, it's even worse if you did it in Steam where it can be tracked and transferred but... nope.

Super backwards. I sure as hell hope those with the DLC get sorted.

If you buy it on Steam it gets registered on the DLC tab and accessed that way, if you get it on GFWL marketplace it gets tied to your GFWL account. They have an automatic way of confirming DLC purchases on Steam, but not for GFWL since there's no associated key. There's no good reason to not transfer Steam bought DLC whereas there's some sense as to why GFWL ones won't.

It sounds like the new Steamworks version is a different listing in the Steamdb though, so I dunno if the tracking would apply.
No, it will still work with the GFWL version. It just won't carry forward to the Steam version.

i.e. you can have the GFWL and Steam versions installed at the same time and chilling next to each other in your library.

It doesn't matter if it's a different listing. If they know you own something, they can transfer it over with no problem.

They should just make the DLC costumes free for everyone at this point to simplify it. I paid for it and really wouldn't give a shit.

I'm going to be considerably furious if Steam DLC gets nuked. At the very least I can say I bought it during a sale :(

Ehhh not really scummy.

I mean your DLC still does work with the GFWL version offline right? The problem is there is no code/cd key for the DLC so there is no way to transfer them. GFWL going down isnt really something Capcom should be blamed for , there are tons of games that arent even doing the transfer to Steamworks or some other service.

Am surprised capcom even did all this , given their record I thought theyd just say FU to the community and force everyone to buy ultra.

Shouldn't this be grounds for a refund no matter what their shitty TOS says? I can't see a class action lawsuit being turned down in this case.

They really should just include all of the dlc for free with the change to steamworks, come on. That's what happened with the arkham city gfwl to steamworks transition, everyone got the game of the year edition for free.

As pissed as everyone is... Why? The stuff you bought will still work with the game you originally bought. You wanna sue them because their freebie doesn't have everything you wanted?

This honestly wouldn't be an issue (i.e. they'd probably give everyone on PC the DLC) if they didn't have the $39.99 version with all the DLC releasing as well. I can't see them giving us DLC for free so long as that exists, honestly. Which is dumb.

I mentioned it earlier but the same thing happened with Bioshock 2. Capcom!

Who exactly is at fault here? MS for shutting down a service and your product becoming not usable. Or Capcom for not transferring over everything to another service. Considering the number of games that did not even offer a transfer.

But They should have given all the DLC for free during the transfer. I really doubt there were all that many people who bought it from the GFWL store.

Can you provide a list of significant games that will NOT be providing an update to Steamworks or whatever? I can only think of one or two, and they're all Microsoft's.

That's precisely what WB did with the Batman games.
But apparently Capcom knows no shame when it comes to exploitative practices and bullshitting customers.

I think apart from Bioshock,Batman,Warhammer and AE2012 nothing else is coming.

DarkSouls,GTA,SFxT..

They would but the problem is it reduces the value of their retail version which is supposed to release with all the DLC. Its just a shitty situation. But honestly I think they shouldnt really give a shit about 2 year old DLC at this point.

I'll be shocked if Dark Souls or GTA aren't converted eventually, and I won't be surprised if some of Capcom's games are left to die. Their attitude about SF4's DLC says it all, really.

I'll just wait for a sale on the full version instead of checking out the upgraded version early.

I'm not entirely sure which way to direct blame. If I recall correctly didn't similar problems happen to the Bioshock 2 dlc and game, except 2k or whoever is was, gave the dlc for free to everyone who owned the game at the time and converted dlc to steam so that new folks could purchase it.

Similarly, didn't a similar thing happen to the Batman games, and they gave everyone the game of the year editions for free (ie with dlc) even if they didn't own it, and again put the dlc back on steam for new people to buy.

Is any of the SFIV dlc coming back to steam? That might hold the answer. If it is back, then you could argue that Capcom is indeed, being a dick about it. Hopefully if the community make enough noise, it may get fixed somehow. Frankly though, I don't know the logistics of doing such a change or the financial implications or the rights that licences grant users in such a situation

2K and Warner Bros' solution suggests that it's not worth the trouble. Capcom should absolutely follow suit. Just give it to everyone.

As mentioned above, if you bought the DLC on Steam, it should be able to track your purchase on your account. If not, then someone messed up in this conversion.

What happens to your online records? Does it link your GFWL username to your Steam ID when you transfer over?

Also, I wonder if they'll finally free up the 11th and 12th colors that you had to hack to enable previously.

What a mess. I guess there's no easy way to cover all bases.

The "financial implications" are irrelevant. You as a company are the one causing an annoyance to your customers, forcing a migration from an infrastructure to another, so you should also be the one who swallows the bitter pill, giving DLCs to everyone since you have no other way to transfer them with a more selectively discriminatory system.

So if you bought the game through Steam you're ok?
I've never heard of anything bought from the Steam store being taken away from an account (other than in cases of fraud).

Somewhat embarrassingly, apparently I bought the "all-in costume pack" for SSFIVAE on Steam. I'm usually not one for cosmetic DLC, I swear :|

Looks like the Steam version has achievements already -- no idea if they've been activated.

So let me get this straight. By redeeming your GFWL key, you get the current Steam/GFWL version on your account.

Then, on the 30th, they're going to release a separate/new Steam game listing you can download for free?

That right?

I wouldn't stress it. I'd put money on it transferring over just fine.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.
RIP GFWL DLC. Was really hoping they hit us with that free DLC like they did for B2 and Arkham series redemption. Better be a goodass sale. At least mods still work aka my Garou Terry skin for Ken <3

The complete set is usually $3.75 or so.

That's probably just GFWL sucking ass as usual.

Hey guys, sorry about the confusion. We've updated the Capcom-Unity post to clarify:

http://www.capcom-unity.com/combofiend/blog/2014/05/27/ssfivae-gfwl-to-steamworks-transition

Just curious, what happens when you transfer your save data over to the Steam version? What exactly is carried over? Just trials progress, but no online stuff?

Specifically, what happens to your GFWL username and online ranking data? Does it just get reset and tied to your Steam ID? and then reset again when Ultra drops?
