Watch Playstation's E3 conference in movie theaters

I do not understand the draw of this event. It's a press conference. What is the point of watching it in a theater?

Registered for the NYC one.

Has anyone else got their email confirmation yet? It's been like 10 minutes and I haven't gotten mine yet, but I'm assuming the system is getting hammered right now.

Hmm, BruceLeeRoy says "go" while Famousmortimer (on Twitter) says he has "Zero desire" to go.

Hype vs. No Hype. Whom to believe...

It depends on if going down to a theater with a bunch of half cocked screaming playstation fans dressed like Tomba and crash sounds like a good thing or a bad thing.

Also it helps if you don't have any earthly responsibilities Tuesday morning.

Me and Morty are old. Comfy couch always sounds best.

Actually this makes me wonder if this was Microsoft's 'thing at E3 that's never been done before'.

It'll be a fun event with a bunch of like-minded people and there will be some free shit to boot. It's a no-brainer. Go out.. be social!

well we obv know The order will be there with it's 30fps filmic experience and obv uncharted. what else can be worth to watch 10 minute long trailers.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Cool idea! Very, veeery limited amount of cinemas involved (40 between US and Canada? Aren't there, like...4,000 in total in all North America), but it can be comprehensible, since this is the first time they do it, and maybe they've estimated that 40 theatres were enough for the whole amount of people going, so maybe, next year it'll be over 100 if this will have a good success. Still, I like it! Hopefully, Sony delivers at E3, with a good amount of content for 2015 and, at least, 1 more title for this year (strictly speaking about first parties, here, not third parties: the current events made me quite worried about their output, but I hope we'll get a look at what's doing SCE ).

IMHO, this would work better with a pre-recorded thing, since that could be "arranged" as a movie, made more entertaining, without dead moments (which is also why I'm very curious to see how Nintendo's going to do with the Digital Event, since it'll be different from a Direct), but when the bombs are dropped, the cinemas will still explode with laughters and joy :D

P.S. Wait, Ustream? Not YouTube? >_>

Just noticed that its a 2h show as well, with no new hardware to prattle on about. Should be full of games.

I wasn't going to stumble aboard the hype-train this E3, but I seem to have bought a ticket and I'm just waiting at the station now.

Ha, that would be pretty funny. Beaten to the punch!

I think it's unlikely given the time of day, though- Sony probably wouldn't have done it either if they didn't already have a nighttime time slot.

What's the point of watching anything in a theater?

To be entertained by a feature film that has a storyline and actors I enjoy. This is announcements of games. To each their own, I guess. I hope all that go end up having a good time. Just not my thing.

This is actually awesome. I RSVP'd for the NYC event but never got a confirmation email, now it seems like the event is full. So who knows if I got in; still, love the idea.

While everyone is busy analyzing the Agent snippet, which game is the futuristic (hype?) train from? From Shadow Fall I guess? Though I've never seen this footage before
