This is something I'm curious about. On the one hand, it'd be kind of annoying to have everyone's phones being distracting in a dark theater. But on the other hand, I have a lot of fun following reactions and giving my own live via Twitter/Internet forums during E3 events. Generally theaters are pretty clear with a no phone policy, but I'm curious if the rule will be the same with this event.

For me it'll be a play it by ear thing I guess.

I'll have my phone on silent, and ready to rock to read. Odds are GAF will go down anyway, so I won't need it. On the off chance it was working and the theater wi/fi/4g is decent to get me a connection, then I don't see the harm as this is not a movie.

As far as I've seen for the actual E3 conferences every single journo there has something out to type away on for their associated media company. I'll apply the same rules here unless they state pre hand no phones.

Free swag at 0 cost has me won over since staying at home I may be kicking myself later even if it's something like a free month of PSN+ or early access to the uncharted 4 beta or something.

Good thing you're not the barometer since PS4 in specific has had no shortage of games.

There has definitely been a huge lack of first party titles in 2014. Sony's big Q4 exclusive was supposed to be a launch game ffs.

Are they going to stream @ 4K resolution? AMC has been upgrading their theaters to use Sony 4K projectors. That as a tie in to launch the 4K PS4 and 4K TVs. Then of course as everyone has commented they have to have content worthy of this effort.

Sony's charm offensive still in full swing I see... Its actually quite impressive how they are handling themselves on the PR front, especially considering how horrendously flat-footed they have been in the past.

Obviously, stunts like this and underwriting the indie booths at TGS can't compensate for a lackluster showing product-wise (which, who knows, still could happen), but its still one hell of turnaround for a company that seemed hellbent on being its own worst enemy for a long time in the PS3 era.
