I wonder what sort of game it'll be?

Will it retain the RPG elements of the Souls titles, or will you be locked to that character that we have been seeing?

Looking forward to knowing more about this. :)

Honestly? Idunno. I feel Microsoft threw everything they had in the chamber out early (Why not keep Halo 5 for here?), and Sony is kind of similar, after this leaked and that issue with Uncharted popped up.

THAT being said, yeah the cinema thing & SURPRISE GIFT nonsense make me think something's amiss here
They still have plenty to announce, and I feel like even if they did plan to just show UC, DC, some HD Remasters and Beast Souls, they can't rely on that anymore.

This is the first real E3 of the generation, they both have to go all out and set the tone for the next few years. Obviously they can't announce things like GoW4 which are three years away, but they could and should reveal quite a lot.

And of course, as Y2Kev so enjoys reminding us, they have TLG.

Looks like it could be fun... but from a visual stand point im not sure this looks as good as everyone is making this out to be...

also..FRAMERATES

RIDE THE HYPE... ITS ALMOST HERE
The framerate and tearing is because the trailer wasn't meant for public display. No way anyone will show a scene with that much tearing in a trailer.

Sony's last megaton was going to be TLG but they cancelled it in march.

Its okay Y2Kev....Let it all out.

I'm still too burned out by Dark Souls II to get any hype for this new entry.

Let's see how much info gets released during E3.

Truetrue. I wonder if they'll do what they did last year too and let some third parties have the floor for their reveals?

But yeah, I'm wondering if this conference will be on the level of last year's in terms of moments. IMO, Microsoft had the better conference, but the power of No Used Games and FFXV/KH3 reveals will live far longer than, for example, the absolutely out of nowhere reveal of Killer Instinct :p

So I'd say TLG + Beast Souls are the 2 megatons we were going to get from them. Maybe 1 or 2 more?
Or Y2Kev is speaking truth and TLG is deader than dead
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Report me for trolling ND/TLoU2 threads
i can not wait until e3 however if this is their last megaton they are showing and we roughly know of everything else colour me disappointed

There is a disappointing lack of the phrase "moneyhat" in this thread.
Why is that dissapointing, if your are a souls fan you are a sony fan. And will most likely by a ps4 so you can enjoy both souls franchises now. And most people that are interested already have ps4s here.

Although I think Sony's show last year was really weak, they also essentially did half the show in February. If they'd kept KZ, Knack and DC for E3, it would have been a stronger show.

I can't see any 'no used games' type things, MS just isn't fucking it up hard enough for Sony to have any free hits. They can brag about selling more consoles, or having had the right position from the start, but people would just read it as arrogance.

Games are really the only thing that matters this time. They could announce Morpheus' name, specs and release date, but that's the only 'initiative' type thing I think we might see. They'll probably have a notable third party exclusive, Persona 5 or whatever, some hot shit indie thing, Miegakure maybe, but it really should just be a barrage of first party PS4 games, everything else is secondary.

I imagine they'll spend way too much time on third party stuff, I can already feel my eyes rolling at ten minutes of Destiny. AssCreed and Batman too probably. I'd love to know the logic behind featuring third party games so heavily, other than failing to make up the time without them.

How can you moneyhat something that was always yours? I'm not sure "hijacking most of the core team to work on your own exclusive game" counts, but if it does, than that's some behind-the-scenes crazy shit right there.

What's so bad about money hatting? It's basically just funding a game.
I believe there is a distinction between money hatting and funding.

I don't think Microsoft funded Titanfall - they money hatted EA. But they're funding Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break. Same way Sony is funding Project Beast.

I thought the term money hatting was used to describe a publisher/developer being paid to release an already existing game project as exclusive.

Bingo.

Its not, its a collaboration.

Same as Demon's Souls.

Sony owned and funded but developed by From with some help from Sony.

How did From Software get away from Sony's lawyers by releasing an almost identical game with a very similar name (Dark Souls), was it ever explained?

Moneyhatting is a very different thing from publishing.

Moneyhatting is where a 3rd party is paid to keep it's game away from a competing platform (see: Titanfall).

EDIT: Beaten by several others...

Correct!

There is clearly a distinction between the two.

somethings i do wonder about, this game must have started development soon after dark souls 1. people managed to figure out how the teams were divided judging from dark souls 2 credits.

so the deal for exclusivity i feel would occur far before the next gen consoles were released. someone definitely had the foresight at sony to push for a game like this. maybe idle people at SCEJ. In a post dark souls market it makes sense that it would have been multiplatform but the timing of whatever the deal was, makes sense why it would have happened the way it happened.

also visually it does seem a step up from their previous games so its possible that maybe from software uses co-development to essentially leap frog their tech from shared R&D.

From software was also recently acquired by Kadokawa so i wonder how that affects future and even current games in development. E3 is so close :3

Yeah, I played Demon's Souls in 2009. I didn't finish it because I wasn't compelled as GAF.

Maybe you didn't gave it enough time?
I'm not saying that you had an obligation to like it but sometimes these games take time until they "click" with you.
But when they do...you become a fan for life. ;)

They did both. Funded completion which give them 13 months exclusive then moneyhatted around E3 as full MS exclusive.
