Gran Turismo 6 |OT| Moon Rover The Castle

Previews say it unlocks after completing the three challenges - and it contains the Ayrton's Wish movie. lol

Do one Polyphony.

After I've used and abused the Lotus I'm done with GT.

So in the next couple of days, but still can't give a date.

This is bizarre, even by PD standards.

Licensing situation as I can hear. Also, it will be a nice update, so they are working 20 hours shifts last 3 weeks to include as much as possible inside. Nothing truly groundbreaking, but it should be good.

And I am so looking forward to this formulas with FFB on 10 and Comfort Hard tyres.

My copy of GT6 should arrive today. Should I wait until the update lands before playing it? I remember GT updates taking an age to DL/install.

Right in time for the relaunch of the game. Sweet.

For that reason you should try to play ASAP, it will be a cumulative update so you'll have to download 1.01-1.07 before you can download 1.08.

Amar, a few weeks back you were saying that we were getting unprecedented developments very soon, is that still the case?

Unprecedented Developments were reffering to GTP's Q&A section for Polyphony. Many probably think it is only a community stunt, but it is not. Regional SCE GT producers are taking the job of monitoring of the section very seriously and many great developments will come out of it.

In my opinion it is a great way to collect amazing amount of hardcore base comments and proposals without going into utter chaos of establishing the role of some community manager who would only get slaughtered by negativity, subjective vocal wishlists and impossible demands without any chance to focus on proper issues.

It is really a unprecedented development in fanbase communication for the GT series and I am very happy about that step.

Ah right! Thanks for clarifying.

I agree it's definitely unprecedented if they are actually listening and acting upon it, I'm sure you can understand people's skepticism though.

I'm still puzzled by your apparent connection to PD Amar, but if you have any way of communicating with them directly, please stress to them that the number one development that would move the series forward is to develop some form of regular (and worthwhile) communication outlet. Even if they don't want a community manager*, a weekly blog post, a monthly article on progress, anything. The game comes across as being 'early access' anyway half the time, so a developer diary would not be out of place.

Interesting, non-Senna related content included in the update...

I really don´t have a lot of time to dissect the questions i would like to ask, but i focused on only one, the one that i think would improve the game drastically for me: car leaderboards.

Unfortunately, the topic was already created, so just posted a reply and supported.

If you guys also want this, please support the cause. Not only by liking, but also replying with something so that the thread gains some visibility.

Thanks you!

After not playing GT6 for what must be a month*, last night I thought I’d catch up with rounds 2 and 3 of GT Academy, before the imminent (lol) release of Sennageddon.

Absolutely loved the GT-R round Bathurst, which made me think how awesome it could be in the JP Special round there, which then made me afraid that because of ‘licensing’ they’re only going to let you drive these new cars in the special event on the retro-racetracks... Have we any indication of what limitations, if any, are being placed on these cars?

Also, if the challenge is to beat Senna’s time in the same car on the same track, what does that say about the game as a simulation? In theory it should be the hardest challenge yet surely, with the smallest Gold % we’ve seen?

* of solid Football Manager...what a time sink that game is and I don't even follow football!

No g-forces, no fear factor, beating a real life time should be easy. Remember the trophy for beating the GTR real life time at Nurburgring in GT5? Easy.

Game will always be faster, if the simulation is 1:1 compared to real life because of fear, g-forces and other real life factors.

Yeah, beating Kaz at (a rainy) Nurb is one thing, but beating a time set in the dry by someone who was, in some people's opinion, the best driver who ever lived?

I'm not saying noone will do it, for the reasons you state, just that this should prove to a step above the usual difficulty level if the simulation is anything to talk about.

Those shitbags at Zavvi still haven't sent my GT6. It's my own fault I guess - I swore I'd never use them again then went back on my word.
Karma's a biznatch. I was hoping to have the weekend on GT6.

I'm not too fond of the Mitsubishi. It looms a bit too similar to the Volkswagen. I was hoping for a Lancer Vision GT car or a similar sports line car.

So it just squeaked into May after all!

Made myself late for work downloading and installing it, only to boot the game up and be met with another install screen claiming a 50 minute wait?! What's that about? Had to quit out of the game or I'd have got fired, I hope it hasn't corrupted or wants me to redownload it or anything...

Amar - you said they were fitting 'as much as they can' into this update, is there anything that hasn't been revealed yet or is it the Senna stuff, the Mitsu VGT and one menu tweak only?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and for those who've been able to play, how's the sound?

No, "only" that :/

I am amazed, noone appreciates the work done for everything.. surprise VGT car modelled, new movie recoreded, edited and added, new showroom type modelled and added..

I don't know anymore. Sometimes it seems (and it is more pronounced at GTPlanet) how all these additions are taken as granted, like they manifest in the game out of the thin air :/

Maybe my expectations are not high as anyone's, but this was one damn great update with lots of content.

Has 1.08 busted Goodwood?

When I try to load the track in Arcade mode it boots me back to the track selection screen, and when I select the Special Event, it loads the track, but I can't race as it says "This race cannot be started. The race information is invalid"

It's been six months since launch and it's hard to get excited for things like that, when some promised core features are still missing. I was really looking forward to the iOS app. What happened to the track editor? Was the monthly DLC completely scrapped?

It doesn't help that the community here died pretty quickly.

Its like a sign outside a restaurant says, "All customers will get a free dessert sundae at the end of the meal" and then you get excited, go inside, get seated, order some food and drinks and then when you're finished, sitting there waiting for that free sundae at the end, instead they bring you out a small handful of french fries and then pretend nothing was ever said about a sundae. Yea, I might still eat those french fries, but don't expect me to be thankful for them.

Apologies, maybe it's the way you phrased it, when I picture them "working 20 hours shifts last 3 weeks to include as much as possible inside" it invokes them putting in extra things, not struggling to include what has already been announced.

And against a backdrop of still no GPS functionality, no course maker etc., is it any wonder that people take them knocking out a few long promised cars in 6 months+ for granted?

It's a great update, and if everything was fine otherwise I'm sure people would be overjoyed, unfortunately, that's not the case.

Fun tribute but where is the MP4/4 nooo!

Didn't even know this had trophies before they pop'd up

I really wouldn't be surprised if this is the appetiser before the main course of DLC.

It would make sense as we know its a long term partnership & the Ayrton Senna Institute will receive royalties. As the deal looks like it was struck late on in development of GT6, royalties from DLC seems more likely other than from the base game sales.

So give as little as they possible could in the patch of 3 new cars and two new variations, then charge for the more popular content which would be the McLarens and Interlagos (money would also pay off other licence holders)

Just really hope Donington may also get a look in. Anyone else interested in a rain soaked challenge in an MP4/8?

The Ayrton Senna Tribute event was better than I was expecting. It's cool that they decided to include it - otherwise I would have never heard of him.

I'll just leave this here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004PYD770/

Buy it and watch it. Go on, do it! I'll wait here. :p

[Edit] Also new content is always great but lately I've been getting cranky about having to update the game everytime I wanna jump in for some quick racing or just messing about with a car. Clocking a lot of hours at work atm which means I dont have quite as much time to play games these days as I used to so I find myself playing catch up with updates and Sony's download servers being what they are along with GT6's update process means that a good chunk of my game time gets wasted in patching.

Time to quit my job I guess and stop being such a casual... or alternatively buy a tablet and stick to candy crush but I don't think I'm quite ready yet to hand out my "Man Badge".

You can always put ps3 to autodownload patches.

OK, GT6 finally arrived, all seven updates have been downloaded and installed (yay for 40meg fibre), and I've had a little play.

First question: how do I turn off the N64 filter that makes everything a muddy blur?
Second question: how do I enable AA to reduce the jaggies?

Has this game really taken such a generational leap backwards with the visuals or is the new resolution utterly incompatible with 720p displays? Or has the global lighting really caused such a compromise?

I've gotta say, it's downright fugly compared to GT5 from what I've seen so far. Where's the pin-sharp clarity disappeared to?

Loving the rejigged physics, by the way, and sound does seem improved. The menus and load times are great too.

It has. But it's really just another piece in a long line of evidence that shows 6 should have been on PS4, or PD should have reigned in their resolution ambitions.

...

Sad to see the end of GT5 online last night. For all GT5's faults, they eventually got GT5 online to be something incredible, which is why it's such a shame to see 6 drop the ball so badly. Most of the people I raced with on 5 won't go near 6. And it shows in the lobbies. Had a good moan about it before, but after 6 months of GT5, the Daytona lobbies were utterly packed; now you're lucky if you get 2 pages worth.

Sad.

The game will always look ugly and muddy at 720p. They just didn't optimize the graphics for that resolution. Change the native resolution to 1080p, it will look much better, but at the expense of some frame rate dips. You can go to the main menu, then to display settings, and set the image quality to Sharpen. That should help with the framerate a little bit but it will cause screentearing. If you change the setting to Flicker Reduction, it will reduce screentear but the framerate will be worse.

Nothing you can really do about jaggies, but I don't think it's that much of a problem at 1080p, especially when compared to most other racing games. The real problem is the frame rate.

This is a frame buffer screengrab at 1080p from Wax.
