Ubisoft E3 2014 Press Conference Thread

Zoned

Actively hates charity
In my opinion,

MS - 6 (Lacks gameplay footage)

EA - 0/10 (COME BACK NEXT YEAR AND TILL THEN ENJOY OUR QUICK CASH GRAB HARDLINE)

Ubisoft - 7.5/10 (Lacked the wow factor that Watch Dogs and Division brought in past conferences. Rainbow gameplay looked tacky. Far Cry 4 and AC 4 were the only redeeming factor.)

I guess if we're rating shit:
MS: C
EA: F
Ubi: B-

Don't get how anyone can rank EA above Ubisoft.

Ubisoft had dramatic CG trailers, yeah, but at least their conference was consistent. EA's conference was a giant Dev diary video with concept footage shown.
Not to be that guy, but that also sounds consistent.

Far Cry 4?

At least there being honest on how its gonna look (unlike assasins creed unity, after what the downgraded division footage looked at the MS conference I very much doubt unity will look as good as it does now)

I think the story and bad guy looks pretty cool in FC4, its like a cross between the bad guy from james bond skyfall, tom cruise in interview with a vampire and Derek Foreal in Blow.

I hoped for that rumored Prince of Persia 2D to show up at the end, only for it to be dashed by yet another murder simulator. :'(

I like Aisha, she can be a little much at times but for the most part she's hilarious.

That whole show was a bit of a let down, AC looked fantastic, as did FC4. But there's nothing else that really blew me away, Rainbow 6 looked interesting, but not great. Everything else was either mediocre or something we've already seen.

All 3 so far have been quite disappointing.

Yeah, she gets into at least, I think it depends which game she's currently hyping that effects how much I get out of her occasional over-the-topness, so I should probably blame the game at that time rather than her.

Ubisoft is the best so far. Them Division trailers though! FC4 and AC:U both look great so far, and Rainbow Six was very unexpected and blew me away.

Ok, since everyone is posting their scores for all the conferences so far:

MS: 5/10
EA: 3/10
Ubi: 6/10

I'm looking forward to watching Sony after the fact when I wake up tomorrow.

I don't know how to rate a press conference on a 1-10 scale...

EA was pure trash, a true waste of time. MS was filled with useless CG, confirmed there's actually nothing interesting launching this year on these consoles. Ubi was a letdown outside of Rainbow Six.

Overall, I come away thinking nobody was actually ready for new consoles despite how much developers screamed about it since 2011.

I was annoyed about those Crew and Division trailers because you aren't gong to get that immersing drama and evenly-paced pathos in a online-only fast & loud, mini-MMO.

MS - 6 Saved by MC collection, too many cgi trailers, too many multiplats, no big surprises that interested me.

EA - 5 Here's what we're working on, but it's still in planning/sports/sports/sports. Glad to have gotten into the Hardline beta though. Mass Effect was just a huge tease as was Battlefront.

Ubi - 6 AC and FC4 looked awesome, the rest was pretty heh though.

Hmm here's my current rankings.

MS: 1/10 because of that huge Conker fuck you
EA: 4/10 they showed some unexpected things (Battlefield maps in PGA tour), and the Hardline beta being available today is pretty awesome.
Ubisoft: 3/10 They had Valiant Hearts and that was it. Assassin's Creed doesn't need shoehorned co-op for fucks sake.

Sony and Nintendo better be good or this E3 has been a total waste of my time.

MS: B+
EA: A-
Ubi: D

I love EA

European friends, who's staying up for Sony? It's 1:40am but LET'S DO THIS!

I AM!

Yup, average grade especially after all the excessive hype Phil pulled. Some neat things like Ori and Kamiya.

If Sony were to have had that conference the thread would have been crazy to read, remember all the "Sony's first party won't be there at all they're just gonna show tons of third party crap and indie crap aren't they?" posts.

Yup, funny how that isn't a problem anymore. In the lead up there was a whole lot of "they better not waste time on third part". MS devotes 2/3 of their conference to third party multiplats and it's all good.

As a games conference, it was good. As a Microsoft conference it failed (as in they showed zero reasons to buy an X1 this year, unless you're huge on Halo)

All in all its been a good day (barrijg EA of course)

That Rainbow Six trailer was the low point of the night so far.

Pre alpha footage from multiplayer match? The actors doing the voices have never played a R6 game before, let alone that one they were supposed to be playing.

The title is worse than Rise of the Tomb Raider. So you play different types of sieges, so like BF Hardline only in one small building that doesnt fall over? WTF?

But the worst thing for me is the obvious NON realtime NON alpha, hell NON multiplayer CG footage which has been deliberately downgraded to appear realtime.

This is a concept reel, just like the last R6 Patriots vid, will be nothing like the final game, if that ever materialises as the premise seems damn weak.

CG trailers are what they are but deceptive shit like this is far worse, this is even worse to me than the Watch Dogs downgrade.

Rainbow Six: Home Alone edition can fuck off

Microsoft: C
EA: D
Ubisoft: B+

I really liked that Assassin's Creed footage, if that and Rainbow Six Seige actually look like they showed they will really be stunning.

Microsoft gets a C just because of Halo Collection but nothing else was really impressive and they used too many CG trailers.

EA is redeemed almost exclusively by Dragon Age. Hardline might be fun but I will wait on it and play more Battlefield 4.

I agree, the Rainbow Six reveal left me flaccid :(

MS: was ok. Loved "Ori and the Blind Forest".
EA: Sims, Sport games. ME4 was be able to save them.
Ubi: worse than MS but much better then EA. But I just can't stand before fake acting of Aisha.

Count me in. Will wait 4 that glorious Uncharted expose.

Sunset overdrive, forza H2, Halo 1-4 + Halo2 remake , halo 5 beta, DR3 mega super tripple HD redux ininfity one DLC and a fable legends, plus all the multplat games. Plus I also think sony will have a similar exclusive line up this year.

How many games do people play? it took me a bout 3-4 days of more or less constant playing to complete GTA5 and normally I cant play all the time because you know work and stuff gets in the way, and I'am still playing GTA5 now.

I think the Ubisoft show was pretty good outside of the writing for Aisha. They did a much better job showing off their titles than Microsoft did.

Microsoft showed a TON of games, but just a handful were interesting or impressive. Witcher 3, Ori and Sunset Overdrive were the top hitters for me, and only Ori was a real surprise. It was still focused and earned themselves some good will.

EA was pretty disappointing all the way through. Star Wars was the most interesting thing they showed, and it was just a tiny dev documentary. No release dates on any of the interesting stuff aside from Dragon Age.

Ubi had good variety, gameplay demonstrations, and was able to raise hype levels and excitement from their announcements (regardless of how disappointing they could become later on). The people demonstrating were fun, and the games looked very impressive.

Games that held my attention... (per conference)

Microsoft:
  1. Sunset Fortress 3
  2. Halo 5: Destiny
  3. Ori
  4. Limbo 2
  5. Max Fleischer's "Cuphead"
  6. Project Nagano
  7. Crackdown

EA:
  1. Had to miss it.

Ubisoft:
  1. Far Cry 4
  2. The Croop
  3. Assassin's Creed: French French Revolution (Giving Ubisoft's conference the credit on this one, it had a CG trailer and gameplay)
  4. War Dog

Obviously in a game of "What Titles Were Interesting" you can't compare a single studio's conference to the conference of a hardware manufacturer getting games from multiple studios, so I'll say this. Microsoft has more games I'm interested in so far, but Ubisoft has four whole likely pickups from me, and they're one studio, so there's that.
