Watch Playstation's E3 conference in movie theaters

I was at the Portland OR event. Not really feeling like it was worth my time. I do t give a shit about Battlefield Hardline, I'm only mildly interested in the Destiny Alpha, I don't care about Music Unlimited, and I spent more than $5 in gas to drive there. And honestly, a poster is the exclamation point on what a Goddamn nerd I am for going to this thing. A poster just feels like Sony thinks we're all man-babies who decorate our homes with all this crap. It's fine for kids, and I'm happy that some kids will have a unique thing for their room, but the lady at the event trying to get me to take a poster when I'm 33 and don't look like I'm trying to desperately hold onto my childhood makes me feel like a goober.

If they do this again, I'll pass. The theater stunk of B.O. because apparently every gamer stereotype is fucking true. I had hoped something bonkers would happen so years from now I could say "yeah I was in one of the theaters when they revealed Shenmue III and people were actually sobbing!"

As for the conference itself, I'd give it a solid B. Lots of 2015 stuff, remakes of last year's games for this year, and only a couple of genuine surprises in Let It Die and LBP3.

Come on Sony. Get your crap together.

The stream is terrible in Nashville.

People were legit surprised that the game looked anywhere close to the trailer released a few days ago.

While I have some reservations about MK10, some made a little worse by the gameplay trailer shown, I think that game is gonna go places. I yelled out, "WHO RUNS BARTER TOWN?!?", but no one got the reference. I think that makes me old

"OH GOD LOOK HOW FUCKING CUTE IT IS!!!"

Nashville turned out to be a pretty good time.

I was sitting behind a GAF guy in the middle. Next to the guys with the beers. I also met a gaffer on the way out, but I forget his username. Kyle, nice to meet you.

LBP got a much bigger reaction than I thought, which is awesome. Bigger than Destiny and other shooters. Sad to not see any driving or extreme sports games.

I have not redeemed my code yet, but it sounds like we just got a weak invite to the betas and that iffy poster. Still a lot of fun, despite the seizure glitches in the middle, lol.

No joke, this event made me scared for the future of gaming.

When everyone is cheering at a name they recognize no matter what it is and the most unique looking thing on screen gets jeers of "Get off the stage!" and "This looks gay" (actual things yelled out loud at my theater) then there is something wrong with this industry.

Thankfully I had a vastly different experience.

None of that at my theater, they ate up the more colorful games, LBP3 probably got the biggest cheers of the whole thing. You just live in a crummy town.

ATL was a grand time. Met a few GAFfers, had a decent discussion about the villain from FarCry 4 while waiting in a gigantic line that extended out into the parking lot, many cheers were heard during the Arkham Knight, The Order, and LBP 3 announcements, From Software also got a huge pop.

I'd be willing to go again. It's great being around fellow gamers that don't act like douche-nozzles.

I don't know how you guys in the theater survived Brian Michael Bendis.

As a comic reader, I love Bendis and I am super hyped for the Powers show, it's one of my favorite comics. His segment just fell flat on its face. People only cheered when it was announced that it was free to Plus members.

I really don't know what to say to people pissed off about free stuff. You have a right to complain I guess but man. Honestly I enjoyed myself so much that I will go every year. I don't need free shit, it's cool they gave us anything at all. I would never drive 2 hours to see it but if one is fairly close then hell yeah I will be there. I was surprised by the people at the SLC event they seemed pretty into the hobby. Cheering for directors and reacting to stuff that clearly hardcore people would care about.

Also LBP3 blew our theater up! One of the best reactions of the night.

Everyone was super positive and there wasn't sneers or jeers at anything. Maybe a few groans when they started talking about the TV stuff but that's expected.

Loved the ATL event except for the stream issues with noise that could shatter eardrums. Sad I did not met any fellow Gaffers - but sat with some cool gamers and chatted the whole show through. Would go again. Also glad we all got the Destiny Alpha/Hardline/etc goodies.

Also, I have to admit. Watching games on the big screen at 60fps has made me a 60fps believer. I guess I'm just one of those guys that doesn't recognize it so well on a smaller screen but on the big screen it was really apparent. The Last of Us Remastered was fluid as hell.

This! TLOU looked amazing running at 60fps on the big screen.

WTF at the bo comments glad I watched it at home

Smelled like any other theater I have ever been in. No BO for me.

I was at the San Antonio show. There were a few announcements I didn't care too much for, and a little too much time spent on Bendis' project that just got greenlit and hasn't even been cast yet, but overall I had a great time. Not to mention the Destiny early access that was handed out at the show, and the $5 psn bucks.

Glad I grabbed four. :D

Orlando was fun. Other than people getting upset over stream hiccups, we had a good time. LBP3 got a lot of applause and oohs and ahhs. Batman and Uncharted made people go crazy. Some good "ooooooooh" when House did a few burns.

San antonio gaffer! I thought I was the only one!

I was a Columbus-goer too. That fight was hilarious. So glad it started and concluded during the most boring part of the conference. It was way more entertaining, hahaha.

Can't believe we didn't get shirts or wristbands though. What the fuck?

The quality for the Indianapolis show was crap a good 40% of the time. Large screeching sounds randomly, latency bullshit, glitchy video, and at one point the feed started strobing which was hard to look at.

What does the poster look like? Just curious.

It's not that big either.

Saw the Columbus screening tonight. Overall I had fun, though the glitches in the stream were kind of annoying. Because of that I almost thought our stream was glitching at the end of the Batman vid before realizing it was intentional. I was able to catch a good seat near the middle, two seats away from a guy who was really enthusiastic about the Powers presentation.

Speaking of that part, does anyone know what was up with that commotion in the back? What were they arguing about?

This also mirrors what happened in my theater. Everyone got excited by the KH footage until they saw the "Now in Development" line, causing a collective "Daaaw." The LBP3 footage also got a huge reaction out of everyone.

That guy was my friend who absolutely loves Powers and Bendis. I'm excited about it too, but it had no place in that conference. I was the bearded guy sitting right next to him.

Made that portion of the show that much more bearable. Had no clue it was some drunk dude though.

I didn't get to meet any one either but apparently we had quite the group there.

I noticed. Would have loved to have met everyone but was tired from going to class and then rushing from MDC to the theatre. Never checked this thread to see if there was a meetup planned.

Nope. I guess that makes at least 5 of us there. I had a good time. I'm pretty sure it made it a lot more enjoyable as opposed to just watching at home. Seeing all the negativity in the Sony E3 2014 thread surprised me. Will do again next year if they do it.

Edit: Oh yeah. Was standing in line with PAULINK and asked him if he read anything on here about the other cities. So he pulled it up and that guy in front of us asked what he was looking at. He said oh a message board. The other guy in like said something like "Oh, IGN" Haha.

There are people pissed off about free stuff?!!! You get $5 and 2 betas! Good thing I grabbed seven of those passes :)

It was painful how awkward and BO-ridden some folks were. Haha. Some of the stereotypes were on parade last night.

I still had a blast. Will attend every year. I'm expecting MS will follow suit as well next year. This type of event is so much more fun to experience with other gamers.

My buddies and I hung out all day for the other confs - so fun. Had a drinking game going for every time these words were said:

-Content
-Experience
-Beta Test
-Exclusive
-A game logo was flashed full screen (5 sips for FIFA 2015 lol)
-1080, 60fps (if they said both, it was 3 sips)

LOL, oh come on man. You gotta spread that around a bit! I grabbed one extra, but there were plenty others which I shared with other attendees. Don't be too greedy!

Yeah, ultimately glad i went, although it was dumb to stay to the end, i should have bugged out as soon as shawn layden came on and theater hopped into Edge of Tomorrow.

They had at least 200 extra so I don't think I was that greedy :)

I will pass along the codes for the beta on Gaf if I get a chance. But free $35 PSN credit is always good :)

EDIT: I should have grabbed all 200 of them. That's $1000 on PSN!!! LOL I'm sure Sony would have gotten suspicious at that point :)

Are you able to redeem all the PSN Credit? Seems if they were smart they would have put a restriction on how man "E3 theater credits" you could use.

The code is not for PSN. You have to go to the "experience" page to redeem it and at thet point they will email it to you (actually they promise they will email it in the future). I just gave different emails in case they have some sort of check. The credit should not be tied to the "experience" once it's emailed to you... But you never know...

I'd have to say the conference was solid except for the unnecessary talking and it actually was pretty live in NYC but i want to know did anybody receive the codes yet for the betas after entering the VIP code?.

I had a good time at the Nashville event as well, except for the audio/video glitches that cropped up earlier on. I was hoping for a cooler "gift", but I guess I can't complain too much. The poster is a joke though.

My favorite game of the night was Arkham Knight. I know it's not a PS4 exclusive, but the scale of Gotham this time around really took me by surprise. The game also looked amazing fluid when the Batmobile was tearing ass through Gotham. And dat Scarecrow model... holy shit. If the PC version of AK is an optimized mess I will definitely be grabbing it on PS4.

The most fun I had during the night was watching the LBP 3 segment. The entire theater seemed to get a kick out of it.

Haha are you the guy that told me you have a horrible name and a horrible avatar? Lmao It aint that bad ;) I'm the dude that showed up last, outside

Yeah that was cool.

Yep that was me.

And that would've been me and my girl telling you it was reserved. :) *waves*

Miami show was great. I hope they do it every year cause I'd definitely go every year.

Oh then we definitely talked, we just didnt know it. We were the big group (i had a skull cap on and marvel t-shirt) asking about the reserved seats.

Hm, like others have said that was not my experience.

LBP got the most applause. As did that orange and blue rythm game.

Orlando gaf represent! LBP3 reveal was great, I honestly did not expect that reaction. I enjoyed my time though.
