Since I played the first Zelda on the NES I never understood having a character's name in the title who isn't the main protagonist.

This is prob far fetched and dumb but maybe it ties back to Demise or something? I mean in SS he was a lot more demonic so maybe he ends up possessing a human, and this is the "first" ganondorf?

what about it is the son or a descendant of link and zelda, in his quest of conquer and explore the new and big word of Hyrule after the events of skyward sword? that could be interesting. But probably im dreaming!!

"Link" isn't so much a character as he is an idea of a character.
You could call the main character of Zelda anything, but if it looks like Link, doesn't talk and lacks a strong personality, people will still refer to the character as Link.

The character could very well be a female and still be "Link" to be quite honest, as long as the players recognize her as Link.

It's obvious that the person was more feminine than normal. We're currently debating:

Is it Zelda?
Is it a female Link?
Is it someone new?
We're pretty sure that horse isn't Epona
Racist people are trying to make a case for Ganondorf

That's what I'm thinking. I don't think Link was ever supposed to be more than a player avatar. As the series progressed and became more story centric, he did become more of a character. But I don't think that was the original intention or design, and I'm not sure that it's best for the series that you always play Link.

It wouldn't surprise me if the character you play as in this new Zelda is customizable akin to how Xenoblade X is doing it. You've always been able to rename the character. This would be just taking it to the next level.

How is it reaching when the director himself admits it's not Link? Is it that outrageous to assume it's the next iconic character in the series?

I still would rather play as boy Link. If they try and make Zelda playable they should go full GTA V and allow you to play as both. Or at least Paper Mario.

I don't believe the Ganon stuff. But where is the white washing accusement coming from? Isn't his usual form as a boar like monster? In various incarnations now he has been a pig, black as a charcoal, green, blue etc. I don't ever remember him looking like a normal non-White man though.

Can't beleive you guys think this is Ganondorf. Why would they make Ganondorf look more like Link, and take away his ethnicity? Implying dark skin is evil? SMH, grasping at ANYTHING to believe it's not a girl. Unbelievable.

This whole thing is foolishness man you people are crazy. Its clearly link and a guy, he's just as effeminate as other Japaneses male character art. His art design looks more akin to the old 2D Zelda artwork.

Calling it, it's Zelda. The hair color is dirty blond like Zelda, the character uses a bow like Zelda, the character has a cloak, which only Zelda has ever had, the eye color is light blue like Zelda, and the ears are not Link-shaped:

Which are slightly oval and curved, but pointy, like Zelda.

As neat as it would be, I don't want a "create a hero". I want Link as my character of choice to play. With some side mission stuff with other characters. I'm cool with that.

If it wasn't Link: Great! Now there's no reason for a gender debate to exist, unless it was male Zelda.

If it was Link: Great! Male confirmed or riot.
