So I assume there will be multiple GAF clans by the time of the beta?

And what exactly are the grimoire cards? I don't really wanna log in etc to find out about them on the website

Zoba, you have to go through the bungie website

Your setting / fireteam is defaulted to friends, switch to public, it fills up quick

People keep suggesting this as a fix and I don't think it is. Setting your fireteam to public just makes it so anyone can select you and join your team. Other players not populating your world is a known bug right now. It's not your fireteam.

Ok you seem more knowledgeable than me with this so let me ask you a question

I go into a strike with 3 people. It's a 3 man mission. 3 other people are already there, what's stopping the other 3 people from joining us for the mission? Can two fire teams do it a the same time or is there an invisible instance portal I don't know about?

They can't join you because fireteams are only 3 people (raids are 6). As for them doing it along side your group, I'm pretty sure once you enter the actual "dungeon" part of it, it becomes instanced.

So it seems we've found the limit on how large your clan can be. Look like it's 500 people. So once we hit retail we will have to be more selective for sure. But that's one reason it was open to everyone right now. I wanted to find that hard limit. Since it's the final day we won't be making a 2nd one but now thanks to this I can figure out how to structure things and what limits we can put on for retail.

i just hope we can all be together as one happy gaf family

Is it just me or does this game not look remotely good enough to not be 60 fps?
I mean, artistically it's great, but I think the lighting and shaders are pretty underwhelming. Looks like a higher-res old-gen, albeit still good-looking, game.

Yup. Don't worry in Beta it will return and we may have to limit it a bit more. Either that or we will make a couple of them. I have time to think though.

Why don't you have a bit of both? Like have one main clan for people who play a lot, and then others for more 'casual' players?

I'm assuming you didn't mean to type in 'not'. The game has been locked at 30fps

You can play it alone, but the Alpha isn't nearly as good by yourself IMO. The spongey RPG nature of combat feels tedious when solo, and the explore map is clearly built for a fireteam of 2 or 3 rampaging their way through it. The enemy spawns create a constant stream of encounters that doesn't really feel right when you're alone. Gives off a lonely feeling, but not a good loneliness like the feeling of isolation some games can provide, but a sterile loneliness where you just go through the motions and think "Am I playing this the right way?"

In other words, find some people to play it with. Even if they don't use mics, the experience is 200% better.
Completely disagree with this. Most of my time in Old Russia is spent alone and exploring the area, and I have so much fun. Nothing tedious about it at all.

You can definitely solo Destiny without having to be in a Fireteam (unless you wanna do Strikes/Raids).

I agree. This game shouldn't be locked at 30 for ps4 users.

jon bones

hot hot hanuman-on-man action
the MMO parts of this game kind of blow, which is weird because i thought i'd be into the PvE

PvP surprisingly is a ton of fun, but i agree that hip fire should be buffed a little

It's going to be so satisfying to kill a Hallowed Knight, hopefully in the beta. Most of them in the Alpha have ?? over their heads and seem to be invincible, but I found one at level 16. He seemed unphased and unimpressed with everything I threw at him, and nothing registered any damage except my scatter grenades, and each hit would only register one damage, for a total of 10-12 or so. The interesting thing though, is the explosion from my Rocket Launcher knocked him back to the edge. It seemed like one more hit would knock him over, but I ran out of heavy ammo. Going to try again, at least that would be somewhat satisfactory in the interim. Also, I want to explore the hole he was in.

God I hope this game gets through Beta without too many changes. Lord knows the gaming base is going to piss and moan about bosses taking damage like they are supposed to die in a set time limit. I for one want this game to play exactly like this once this finishes and ships in September.

But we all know how loudly people will scream so we'll see. I'll probably be able to solo bosses in 2 minutes by the time the game ships since that will be the #1 gripe.

I actually think there should be a greater penalty ... or even some sort of penalty at all, when you die during boss fights. Like, your weapons deteriorating or something like that. Weps / Armor deteriorating with damage / death and eventually breaking, forcing you to switch to a backup weapon or losing your armor pieces. Would make for even more entertaining fights and would force people to pay more attention. ATM dying simply means having to run back to the boss, and usually you are only a screen away.

Due to the lack of penalty I have run into so many people who will act like fools during fights. The only part of death that is tough is the 30 second wait, and having to watch your teammates. Hoping they don't die also and have to restart the fight again.

To each their own, I guess. To me, and seemingly most people, the MMO elements are awesome.

The ?? means they're a much higher level than you which is also, likely, why they weren't taking noticeable damage.

We will need to separate the guild between Europe and the US.

Right. The level 16 one though, did register minimal damage. I think it may be possible to knock him off the edge, which would invoke extreme satisfaction.

As I say, there's much to love here. The 2 maps in the alpha seem excellent so far, the new movement abilities bring a verticality and flow that really works. I'm not even that concerned about the supers (effectively win buttons) which I thought would overpower everything.

The problems in Destiny PvP arise as soon as you engage another player. The two main problems are these:

1. Right now, movement (walking and strafing) when not sprinting is like wading through treacle. This causes huge problems and frustrations when in combat as it limits your options of response.

2. Hip firing. I know ADS is here to stay and I can actually see a viable role for it, but please Bungie, give the skilled players the option to maximise their mobility with more skill-based aiming. Let me jump, let me weave and let me win duels because I'm more skilled than my opponent - not just because I saw them first.

Both of these factors basically come down to skill. Promoting the development of skill is what the Bungie shooter history is based on and why after more than a decade of playing their games, I'm here to ask that they help me want to play them for the next ten. Skill equates to depth and depth equates to long term investment.

I totally agree. I think the problem nowaday ist that, developers don't realize that PVP falls and stays with the more competitive players and the ones who want Skill in the games. Every Game has to be casual today ( look at that AUTOAIM ! )

I like that there is a decision between when to hip fire and when to ads, why is the hip fire more skill?

To me it just seems like a weapon balance issue, the AR is just too stable ads. Pulse rifle, scout rifle, and hand cannon are great from the hip, they all just have a lot of kick. If the AR had more muzzle climb it would be more on the level.

But there is tons of sticky aim from the hip and ads, I don't understand the skill complaint. The skill is knowing when to use which for your weapon.

Had a bug today on the legendary version of the Co op mission. None of the captains would die, once you get them close, they just stood still and became invincible. That was quite annoying.

Parakeetman

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
So has anyone tried to take down one of those troop dropships? Wondering if a small lv 8 fireteam can deal enough damage to at least break something on it lol

Did both offerings on the Legendary difficulty and it was quite a challenge. The Server end boss is a bit frustrating because of all the Knights who keep rushing you but other than that, it's enjoyable.

Looking forward to the game, but definitely for the PvE only. The PvP sucks balls.

OK, so I love this game a little.

Here's about 10 minutes of random exploration gameplay with my Titan. I found other players, we formed an impromptu group, took down some bad guys; entered a complex (something must happen to shared solo players, my random companions seemed to phase out when we hit that area - maybe we transitioned into another 'cell' or something and the shared online doesn't persist).

Ends with something I like to call "The Cave of NOPE".

Max leveled just now. The Strike mission was fun, but oh my god is it grindy with those bosses. Very exhilarating though.

Final thoughts:
I wasn't interested in this game at all before this. Now I might be all in.

Yep. My first time on The Strike I think I spent about 15 minutes on the last boss, and about other 15 on the first one too... now with all my newer loot, I think I've gone through the first boss in about 5 mins and the final boss too. I think I got mostly green loot now.
