No Ready At Down yet ?

Daxter, both PSP GoW, 2 good ports (Okami and GoW collection) and probably The Order.

It's still a young studio but they always delivered and all their games are above 84 on Metacritic.

that's why i think these kinds of threads don't work, in the end it's just your opinion that matters. If you try to objective, it would be hard to do so too. I'm not trying to be rude too, i am just trying to say that in the end it's just a matter of perspective

agreed - as you said, i don't know how being objective would work. your prior take (fanbase, acclaim etc) would imply using aggregate review scores/etc which i don't think the OP is calling for, or would really work here either, is the thing.

I just think they didn't live up to their predecessors or move forward the way they should of.

But they'd be hard to class as poor games for me. I think them three are overated mind when they first got released.

yeah, again i wouldn't say "poor" either, just...not good? i don't know what kind've litmus we're using here, haha. V already looks like a step in a more interesting direction, for me (and different thing altogether but Rising was cool)

I can't believe people is really shitting on MGS 4, you might not like it but there is no way MGS 4 is a BAD game.
It was a 9 game and it will always be.

believe it - it was bad then, and only gets worse with age. a 6 at best on the Ninja scale™ .

Yeah MGS4 was like an A- after a series of A+ games. Expectations were just too high. Portable Ops on the other hand is literally a bad game, like a bad game, so Kojima Productions can't be included.

Platinum Games - you might not like the story or characters, but they never made a "bad" game.

Platinum is the platinum of game developers.

Hmm, can't think of any devs, if you look deep into their past you might find pieces of poop you never knew existed.

If I had to put a game designer out there, it would be Masahiro Sakurai.

Harmonix has never made a bad game.

Ever.

Everybody forgets about their Eyetoy game. Because it was terrible.

I remember good games from Sierra. But i didn't played all of them.

They made too many games. Quite a few duds in there. For example Codename: ICEMAN. Sure, it definitely was not a broken piece of shit, but plenty of questionable design decisions.

I would also says LucasArts, if I could isolate the adventure LucasArts from the rest. The LucasArts, that created all the adventure games, never made a bad game imo.

That's the problem with such companies, where there were no specific development teams (like the various Nintendo EADs).

Obsidian, Bungie and Platinum Games are the ones I personally have played and enjoyed pretty much all of their games.

Richochet was a fun game and a unique concept. I hardly remember it being bad. Little content, yes, but it was basically a multiplayer pack-in for Half-Life and didn't really take off in popularity.

Oni wasn't a good game and the Halo games IMO are over rated. I know this opinion will not be popular, but Bethesda has not made a bad RPG. I would also say Raven and Id make very good games.

I would say SCE Bend Studio but they made Bubsy 3D *shudders* so I'll throw my hat in for Ready at Dawn, they haven't made much but for their short catalog they cranked out some quality portable games and ports.

That is an incredibly large list for only a few actual games.

Codename: ICEMAN makes me want to watch Hunt for Red October everytime I play it, and vice versa.

I was thinking Lucasarts as well, since even outside of adventure games, they had an amazong track record (X-Wing series, DRk Forces series, outlaws, Herc's Adventure...).

...But then I remembered this piece of shit:

Clover is my pick.

Viewtiful Joe, 2003 - Nintendo GameCube (as Team Viewtiful) and PlayStation 2
Viewtiful Joe 2, 2004 - Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2
Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble, 2005 - Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation Portable
Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble!, 2005 - Nintendo DS
Ōkami, 2006 - PlayStation 2, Wii, PlayStation 3
God Hand, 2006 - PlayStation 2

I never played God Hand, but given Clover's record, I'll assume it was decent!

First off, let's limit this to those who have made at least 5 games. Also, make sure to post a list of what they've made, so we can confirm.

I submit Bungie to this thread:

jbswPNt0lPXrXD.jpg

They've been going 23 years and haven't produced a stinker yet, except for perhaps Operation Desert Storm, which was still decent by 1991 Mac standards. Oni is their lowest-rated game on Metacritic, at 73; everything else is above 80.

Another example would be Retro Studios. They have made Metroid Prime 1, 2, 3, Donkey Kong Country Returns 1 and 2. Lowest-rated game has 83 Metascore.

Who else?

I agree with you about Bungie. I don't even care about the metacritic. Every single goddamn Bungie game has been fun as hell. ONI was criminally underrated I feel too. I to this day long for more ONI. Sadly with Bungie not owning the rights and Bungie West sadly being long long defunct I'll never see one made. :(

Whoopee Camp (kinda easy since they only made two, RIP Whoopee Camp)

Looking Glass

Kojima Productions

Sega AM2

I don't think it's fair to include game that they created back when they didn't have any funding (which started with Crash Bandicoot).
It's completely fair. They involve the same people and it was for a major platform at the time. And they still called themselves Naughty Dog while making it.
