Developers who have never made a bad game

Meh. Blizzard does make very polished games, but their AH and loot philiosophy screwed up Diablo 3 for 2 years. I still don't want to play it.

Though I haven't played every single one of their games, I'd say Chunsoft, before they merged with Spike.

Flagship is up there as well. Just forget Resident Evil Survivor exists.

Valve. Even EAD has made a few bad games.

Edit: And I'll say Simogo in the indie space. Their first two games are a little fluffy and throwaway, but certainly not bad. Everything post-Beat Sneak Bandit has been remarkable. Other indies with five or more games under their belt, such as Vlambeer and Capy, have had their disappointments.

Retro Studios ..
From successfully turning 2D metroid to 3D, to Mario kart (3ds) - as an assistant, to Donkey Kong Tropical freeze...

I think all the long running companies eventually have stinkers. Only 2 off the top of my head I can think of are CD Projekt and Team Ico, because they only have 2 commercially released games each :p

How about Neverland company? I never played the Rune Factory games but I've heard good things. They also had a ton of classics - Chaos Seed, Lufia 1 and 2, etc. Maybe "Hat Trick Hero" is bad, I'm not into sports games.

I'm not sure why you guys are trying to find a developer with a perfect track record. If a developer made many games it's obvious they will have a few failed attempts in there and that is totally fine with me. It's by making mistaking and failing that you end up improving and creating better stuff.

I don't think there's a developer with a perfect track record if they have shipped a lot of games.

Call me crazy but when I discovered Oni was made by Bungie, my mind exploded. It was the first game I owned on PS2 and I had always been under the impression that it was a japanese game. I really liked it back then.

Sorry, Bioshock had a shit way of delivering its story via audio logs. Also both Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite suffer from shit combat controls/scenarios.

Definitely Retro Studios.

Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Mario Kart 7 (co-developed with EAD)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Not only are none of these bad, all of them are flat out fantastic.

When you make a lot of games, at some point you are going to fuck up. I can't even list Intelligent Systems despite a great record. Naughty Dog certainly doesn't count either, since some of their early work was fucking awful.

Valve, Platinum, and some specific EAD groups are all I can think of.

Agree on Firaxis. Paradox makes good games but they struggle with their QA
