Single flag/bomb on Headlong. That was as good as it got for BTB single flag/bomb, Relic was a close second for 1 flag, though.

4 was terrible IMO. The prometheans were very boring enemies, and so were their weapons.
I liked prometheans because they were similar to covenant but not the same. Crawlers were like grunts with more mobility, watchers were engineers on steroids and knights required stickies or plasma pistol to take down efficiently. I understand why people don't like bullet spongy enemies that are extremely hard to take down when ammo is already limited resource but they were IMO a huge improvement over the flood. But yeah, their weapons were horrible.

Promethean were okay to fight against... it's just that they are too mechanical in nature and lost the 'fear' factor when fighting against.

Fighting against the Elites is still #1!

Brutes were mehhh...

Man I loved Prometheans. Did you guys played it on Legendary? They are killer and not at all boring to fight. And popping crawlers with headshot was so satisfying lol

Halo on legendary is the only way to play the game. Halo 4 on legendary made ammo management a real thing, which I liked.

Combat loop for the Prometheans became boring REALLY fast, regardless of difficulty.
  1. Shoot Watchers
  2. Shoot Crawlers
  3. Kill Knights

There was no other way to do it if you wanted to live to the next encounter. Previous Halos allowed for at the very least a couple of ways to attack Covenant squads, but Halo 4, much like the linear design of the maps themselves, only allowed you to combat Prometheans one way successfully.

I hope they never return, at least the way they were presented in Halo 4.

This.

When I get my hands on this collection, it's gonna be a campaign romp with all the newest graphics. Halo 1-4. (thinking of doing the out-of-order story of The Arbiter first, then the MC. I hope I make it through 4 again. Anxious to see what the achievements do to add to the replay value of them all.

Yeah Elites are best.

Promethean knights teleporting behind you with no shields is some scary shit. Loved fighting them on legendary too.

Nah. It's mildly random, with very poor indication. The teleporting mechanic was extremely poorly-implemented.

Yeah, pretty much.

I still like fighting hordes of elites and grunts the best but Prometheons were way more fun to fight then the flood and especially Brutes... Absolutely hated fighting Brutes they were nothing but bullet sponges.

I know some people appreciate halo for its open like battlefields which were missing in halo 4 but for me it's all about strategy and survival. Thinking about how I have to get to the other side of this valley with only a shotgun and a pistol and there is x number of enemies in my way. The variety and skill of the AI is still unparalleled and what makes halo truly stand out and I thought halo 4 did an amazing job of this.

Looking forward to playing some Halo 2 legendary co-op. I'm presuming the Iron skull is no longer on by default.

Didnt they do similar things in the first halo (barring the hunter specific areas, cause most of the time wouldnt you just face 2 hunters and maybe some grunts?), I believe the process to be:

1. Pop/Assasinate the grunts
2. Stick or 3 shot Elites
3. Pick off Jackels

I think if they added one or two more races to the Prometheans it would've added a lot more variety, I think 4 really went wrong here (having like 5 classes for 3 types of enemies). There are a couple of things that they can change for the next games (especially the watchers, they need to give them less defensive traits, making it that you don't have to target them first targettable, and that goddamn teleporting knight crap, but if they replaced the teleporting with invisibility then I think that would be ok), but it feels like they were really close to making it really engaging to fight them but they made some weird decisions which ended up making the fights super straightforward and linear.

I would also really like to see how all 3 races of enemies react to one another (but that could also turn into a major clusterfuck) as the flood will probably end up coming back in some form or fashion soon enough.

I think this is the case in legendary, but elite minors regardless of difficulty were 3 shots I thought (though I may be mistaken?)
I dunno, I'm 95% sure I'm right. I don't remember there being any 3SK Elites in the game (though I haven't played it on Easy or Normal in over ten years).

From the Halo Wikia:

Three-Shot-Kill, or for a short acronym TSK or 3SK, is a term and phrase used in Halo: Combat Evolved referring to the number of perfect and faultless M6D Pistol shots it takes to kill a fully-shielded Elite Minor with a Sangheili Combat Harness, or a fully-shielded SPARTAN-II with Mark V MJOLNIR. On Legendary difficulty, the three-shot-kill does not work on Special Operations or Zealot Elites.

They didn't specify that it takes more shots for a minor, so I assume its 3, but yea I was wrong in assuming that all elites were 3sk on legendary (I think its 6-8 for Majors, Zealots and ultras?)

I think below Heroic all elites were 3 shot kills

343 has uploaded the RTX panel to their YouTube channel and just as I thought when watching the stream live I didn't see any screen tearing, I'm pretty sure that was just that person's recording of the stream.

Keep in mind low-ranking Elites in CE were pretty flimsy in the health department compared to other iterations. It's the only game where a sniper round to the body can one-shot Elite minors (on Easy).

There's hardly any particular "typical" arrangement to encounters in Halo 1, and changing up the order of killing is often very practical. For instance, although elites might be harder to get to when their grunts and jackals are still alive, taking them out can cause the crowd of deadly plasma pistols to disperse and you can finish them super easily.

Also, pistol is pretty wimpy versus elite's shields. It's serviceable for that purpose in some mid-long range situations, but it's simply not very powerful in that role. Even the weakest shielded elites in the game, blue elites on easy, take four pistol shots to kill. I'm not sure where the notion that elites in Halo 1 are a general 3sk comes from, that's baffling nonsense.

I saw the behind-closed-doors demo at RTX, sat right up front and center, and there was definitely no screen tearing. It was beautiful, buttery 1080p with 60FPS.

Can't wait.

So, while we're hearing a bunch about multiplayer and we're expecting more news in this vain soon, I'm far more excited to hear more about the campaign. Don't get me wrong, the recent Coagulation and Gungoose announcements are awesome and multiplayer will be sweet -- but for me single player is where my focus will be. I've been replaying the Halo CE Anniversary at the moment and while enjoying that again and rewatching the terminals in every level (which are awesome) and it got me thinking about the Halo 2 Anniversary Campaign and terminals.

In the original anniversary Halo, we saw a lot of reused models, textures and such from previous Halo games which was fine because they fit into that game perfectly... However, Halo 2 has everything from one off vehicles and heretic enemies which never appear in the other games in huge series again, I feel seeing how these will be handled is going to be super interesting, as well as seeing the entire first Arbiter level (The gas mine in the atmosphere of Threshold) as that level was awesome in the original.

Anyone else out there have specific levels they're excited to see?

I can't wait to see some of the cinematics in awesome CG quality, especially the opening cutscene with Thel 'Vadamee in the council chambers of High Charity (that broken Installation 04 opening too) and the Gravemind cutscene... My god I can wait to see what Blur do with the Gravemind visually.

Anyway, hopefully we'll see some more single player teases soon - but if I had to make my choices for multiplayer maps I'd like to see alongside Ascension and Coagulation, they'd be: Terminal, Waterworks, Ivory Tower & Relic. But I'm guessing we'll see Lockout above all of those, but I can hold out hope... I was a big BTB player in Halo 2 back in the day so, I hope for more of the bigger maps making a return.

I'm super excited for New Mombasa; for some reason I have a ton of good memories of that, plus there's Johnsons "regret" speech to look forward to. Really, I'm just super excited for the whole campaign. Also, I never picked up CEA, so it'll be my first time playing through that with the updated visuals for the first time. Gonna sit down and tear through the whole thing, 1-4 on Heroic day 1. Bliss!

My money's on them adding at least 1 more BTB sized map. Hoping for Waterworks.

Hopefully Gravemind won't be little shop of horrors silly flower guy any more. I've always hated that aspect of Halo 2's campaign. The Gravemind is an awesome character but that classic H2 model just has to go.

As for maps I feel Lockout is well locked IN and Zanzibar is a must. I'd love to see Terminal and Relic to round it out too but I feel Midship will be in there to knock one of those off. Here's hoping there is DLC maps coming for MCC H2A...

Judging by the jaggies I don't think it is actually 1080p, at least not right now.
You mean the Ascension Anniversary stuff? Pixel-counting youtube videos is pretty sketchy, but from what I'm seeing, if it isn't 1080p it's probably not horribly far off.

The main issue is that post-process AA doesn't deal with undersampled thin lines particularly well, and this (and Halo 4) is full of thin lines.

Did you see that leaked behind-closed-doors demo of MCC? Before it was pulled from YouTube? They showed the Blur cinematic trailer that we've seen the option for in the Extras section of the menu, and let me tell you, it will be glorious. Hood was fantastic, Cortana from the after credits tease was pitch perfect, and Johnson never looked so good. Blur never disappoints.

Something just crossed my mind. This post serves as both a "Do you think we will get this?" to everybody and as a question to Frankie.

Will we get the cutscene titled "Another day at the beach" that was cut from Halo 2 and later added to the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack that featured ODST's crash landing integrated into the actual Halo 2 game?

I would love to see that scene put in permanently as well as see a blur version of it.

Here's the video for reference:

Zanzibar was already re-done for H3. No need.

Almost every good Halo 2 map has been remade in some capacity or another.

including the 2 we already know about.

To be fair those two maps were remade in Reach which isn't in this collection, but Coag is in and of itself a remake. There will be 3 Blood Gulches in the collection so I don't see what's wrong with 3 Zanzibars.

fair point.

now that I think of it H3 and Reach had a shit ton of H2 remakes.

My only problem with them possibly remaking Zanzibar is that they've said the way they are approaching the remakes is to make them all as dynamic and interactive as Zanzibar. What could they do to Zanzibar since the entire premise of the remakes is based on that original map?

Either way I hope we get 3 small maps and 3 big maps. We are currently sitting on one small map with Ascension and one big map with Coag so it is pretty even so far. If we take that post Frankie made during E3 as confirmation of maps we are actually currently sitting on Ascension, Lockout, Zanzibar and Coagulation which would put us at 2 small and 2 big. So if that were the case what would be the last small map and the last big map that you guys would want? For small I'd want Turf, Midship or Sanctuary and for big I'd want Terminal, Waterworks or Containment. I'd be happy with any of those being the last one for their respective sizes.

Those are the correct answers.

I really wished it was Midship, Turf, Terminal, Relic, Waterworks, and whatever.
