And why do you think the Xbone will beat the PS4 in Nov. and Dec.?

Never said it will. Just said I could see it happening.

It's not like launch again. This time, Sony will have the mindshare advantage going into the holidays. Only way I can see Xbone outselling the PS4 in November is because of the MC Collection. And that's still just a "maybe." If they have another bundle, that also might improve its chances.

Yeah, and that's exactly why I said I could possibly see it happening -- MCC on top of holiday deals and bundles. I (again) never said it will outsell the PS4 though.

I don't see Microsoft winning any month this year, even with MCC in November.

Halo is no longer that big (Thx CoD), especially with Bungie working on Destiny now.

I can't. The MCC is great, but no remaster has every been a big system seller. The Ps4 will still have the mindshare, the better version of most multiplats and, if marketed right, LBP3 could help with families.

In fact, I don't see MS winning anything until maybe Halo 5, or maybe if they do another emergency $100 price cut (and Sony doesn't react).

Do people really think the Halo collection will see the XB1 to 1st place in November? I'm not really a Halo fan so it's tough to gauge the excitment, but it's essentially a remake collection right?

Since the PS4 will likely be even further ahead by then, I would imagine that's where people will want to play the big 3rd party games later this year

I don't know if I would say the Halo collection remaster would be enough, but November also sees the next Call of Duty game come out and that should get quite a bit of co-marketing with the XB1. On the other side, you have whatever co-marketing deal gets done with Far Cry 4/Grand Theft Auto V and the PS4 plus LittleBigPlanet 3.

Should make for an interesting month, though I'd say they have a better chance of winning October.

Having read MS PR before;

Unless "more than double" means near triple but then they would say that.

more than double means more than 2 x but less than 2.5x

We’re excited to welcome so many fans to Xbox this summer and we can’t wait for them to get their hands on the wide selection of new games available this year on Xbox One, including Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, and Ori and the Blind Forest. Xbox One is the only place you can play these games

O rly?

Yes, the Xbone is the only place you can play that selection of games when considered as an indivisible set, not as individual titles

Think Microsoft would have said it was the best selling console in June if it was.

Can PS4 break the 32 months record of 360? It is already 6.

Lots of things could change it. Not including a price drop, its best chance is probably the Master Chief Collection. Don't see Halo 5 doing it unless it launches in September or earlier. I also think the Wii U can beat it one month with Smash Bros Wii U depending on when it launches.

"More than double" sounds infinitely better than "almost triple"? Yeah sure.
/s

It really does. "Almost" definitely sounds worse than "more than." It's like how, for whatever asinine reason, 1.99 sounds like it's less than 2.00. The actual numbers aren't nearly as important as the approximations they represent.

This has to be the least effective price drop I have ever witnessed.

XB1 offers a new SKU for $100 less, uptick in sales? 200 - 250%

Vita offers a new SKU for $90 less, uptick in sales? 1600%

Clearly Vita has a brighter future in the US
I am indeed being sarcastic

In your example, which one is better: "More than one" or "almost double"?

I just think that it shouldn't need Halo yet. The lack of Halo doesn't explain why sales are poor now. There's a decent variety of games on xbone already, but consumers aren't biting. Not compared to PS4, not even at price parity.

Offering I think ~$75 credit for those who upgrade from 360 to X1

Target did some huge cash back deal as well.

Ahh, yeah. There was that. Personally I'd never give up my 360 though, especially with the hundreds of dollars of XBLA games I bought that are still functional.

Mass retailer and Ebay deals don't really count though, they don't tend to be officially sanctioned.

I see the MCC selling better than almost every game this fall. The thirst to play Halo 1 & 2 maps is real.

Hmm, I traded in my PS4 to GameStop last month for an XB1 after E3. Out of all the games announced, that Halo MCC was the only game that was a guaranteed purchase.

That's not fair, you're comparing a home console to the handheld champion.

Interested in seeing what happens in the July/August dead months, if the baseline has risen at all or this is a temporary uptick

wouldn't 154 up from 77 be a good thing?

It's not that 154 is particularly good or particularly bad on it's own. It's that May's sales (77k) were torpedoed, presumably because of April's numbers (115k), and all they got out of it was a very, very slight boost in sales in June (154k).

April = 29k per week
May = 19k per week
June = 31k per week

* this post assumes the number is actually 154.

Selling someone a product is kind of counter to convincing someone that you're selling a product well; in the latter, you'd want to sound bigger, while in the former, you'd want to sound smaller.

But still, I see your point.

Not true.

Both systems will have many games and both should do pretty well in NPD just due to big multiplat releases alone.

The market has changed considerable since then though. It's almost irrelevant bringing that up. A much better way of doing it is looking at more recent remasters and remakes.

I would trade my PS4 for an XB1 at once if either Shenmue 3 or Megaman Legends 3 were announced as exclusives for it.

Both are huge franchises, amirite?

I don't really agree that Halo isn't that big either, but pointing out that a fan of the series is interested in a remake isn't really strong evidence to prove anything...

Need some source on that one? Sales figures for example?

It was a "player's choice gold box" game (meaning it sold over one million copies) and it was bundled in the "Super Nintendo Mario Set". Definitely helped in selling Super Nintendos.

Doesn't matter if it's sanctioned or not, the most likely reason the deals happen is because they are trying to move stock.
