Rumor: 3 more Wii U exclusives hinted by the one who hinted at Devil's Third

Lmao. I'd sell my PS4 is Suiko VI came out on the Wii U and actually pushed the system's graphics.

You imagine, I'll be realistic and hope for a Mistwalker game at best.

Have you heard what mistwalker is doing:

Terra Battle currently for mobile and possible ports to consoles

Well, I am a okay for new Megaman games exclusive for Wii U here.^_^

Or even Dragons Dogma 2 considering how the sale for the first one is considered by Capcom as not good enough. T_T

Incorrect.

Capcom:

The popularity of Dragon's Dogma was "greater-than-expected," however, and saw an "unprecedented" million copies sold for an original title.

I hope Itsuno is working on a sequel most likely PS4 and XB1.

Oh great. It's one of those threads that tease all sorts of games I want, but where the only chance of them manifesting is on mobiles.

Either way, if this rumour has any truth to it, I'm kind of fascinated by what drove them to these deals. Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third felt like they funnelled money into dead projects, The fact that they were canned usually had a good reason behind it. I don't see either of those titles selling a ton, pretty much turning them into publisher poison. They would probably do worse on WiiU than they would have on other systems, but at least this allows Nintendo to pad their release schedule and earn some good-will of niche game fans.

I can't really think of many other titles that fit that bill though. Cry On and Ni-oh make sense, but too much time has probably passed for those.

Nope. Capcom's expectations from their financial reports were for 1.5M for Dragon's Dogma. It only sold 1.3M, so it definitely fell short of their financial expectations. That doesn't mean the game was a failure, and it may have even turned a profit - but it fell a bit short of what they were expecting.

1.5M forecast for FY doesn't mean this was the original target when they started the project. Capcom had very high expectations for this game and they set a more realistic target when they had to face the hard reality of possible sales.

Might as well go with a batshit insane and 1000% unrealistic game.

Devil May Cry 5 Wii U exclusive. Might as well get the other character action games on there.

Chris is it the 10 million sales I posted up there?

I can't really think of many games that are in a similar situation as Devil's Third. Both Cry-On and Ni-Oh seem like they've never really been in development or have been put on ice for far too long to be resurrected again.

Cavia was working on an FPS for Square-Enix titled Catacombs. It looked weird enough that it might catch Nintendo's attention and from what I know, some people who left Cavia are at Access Games now.

If this rumour is true and there are 3 exclusive games coming, we probably don't know about all of them. That said, I'd love for someone to revive Coded Arms Assault.

Why a PC version of Dragon's Dogma doesn't exist is beyond me but i sure as hell hope that a sequel comes to PC as well at least if it doesn't come to the WiiU which unfortunately seems likely.

Guys it is Persona 5.

And Tales of Zestiria.

I have a PS3 so neither of these will affect me either way. I would rather hvae Skies of Arcadia 2.

Lol thats the game director. He said he wanted it to sell that much. What actually matters is if it meets Capcom's expectations.

1.3 million as of September last year. Besides they clearly said it exceeded expectations even though said expectations were higher than the sell through. Maybe they expected it to bomb but didn't want to tell anyone else about it lol

With DA, they actually included microtransactions and along with the DLC stuff I think it must of been successful. Those rift crystals aren't easy to get and are kind of cheap in Olra's shop.

I think the biggest reason for a sequel though is its success in JP. DD + DD DA on PS3 has sold 890k. That is pretty insane for a new IP in JP. Its already up there with Resident Evil PS3 in Japan. The biggest reason it may not get a sequel is how expensive next gen RPG's are to make.

They did say it exceeded expectations in Japan but it didn't worldwide. The 1.5m projection was FY as well, not lifetime.

Dragon's Dogma was a huge project that took a significant amount of internal resources. Capcom did always try to put a positive spin on it in their IR reports but it really did underperform in the west. Plus the opportunity cost was massive, DD was basically why we didn't get DMC5.

Yeah, absolutely. I was just trying to keep things simplified with numbers that were officially released just to show that the game did indeed fall short.

No, it's at 1.3M as of Mar 31/14. And the 1.5M expectation was only for the FY the game released, like back in 2012. The 1.5M expectation was only through Mar 31 of that FY, not for the LTD of the game. And that 1.5M expectation was for full-priced sales, not for the reduced value price-protection sales that ended up making up some of that 1.3M LTD for the game.

If Nintendo were smart they'd announce one of these with a Fatal Frame localisation in the next couple of months, to keep the console's momentum going.

From what I understand, the Skies team became the Sakura Wars team which then became the Valkyria Chronicles team.

In JP, Skies never sold well so I think that series is done for. Aika, Vyse and Fina all appear in VC PS3 though

Tbh I rather have a VC4 on PS4 (not a portable one pls) than SoA. VC's srpg gameplay was revolutionary.

Oh yeah DD did flop in the West. Capcom hardly marketed it though presumably because the project was already taking up so may resources.

If I had to choose between an Itsuno DMC or DD2 I would choose DD2 any day. Its like the first open world game I've played thats had fantastic combat. There are notable improvements to be made but its a great start if the series was to continue.

Sort of. They were originally the Sakura Taisen team before Skies. They were also involved with stuff like Clockwork Knight, Shinobi and Rayearth.

Hardly marketed? DD had heavy rotation television ads in America and they even promoted the 360 RE6 demo on them. The game had a bigger push than any other new IP from Capcom this gen.

VC's srpg gameplay was revolutionary.

It was an extended version of the Sakura Taisen battle system, but yeah since we only got the fifth episode years after VC I think from our point of view it could be called revolutionnary.

I don't like talking about dead series that I like, it's too sad ;_;

I'm really getting tired of this "hoping for localization" thing.

The Wii U is doing best and has the most momentum in the US. Localize EVERYTHING. Give the player base things to play, constantly. Japan barely gives a shit about consoles anymore anyway.

Wow, it actually had ads? Thats news to me. I live in the UK though. Was there a marketing campaign in EU as well?

I'm prety sure there was a statement for 1 million sales in Japan before the game was released.

Are you talking about this,

Itsuno:

“In Japan, we can absolutely sell a million units,” he said. “We know that’s attainable, it’s absolutely do-able. We have a kind of assurance that that will happen, but for worldwide that’s not so much the case, and I think that’s why a lot of Japanese developers are hesitant about going global. It’s because they don’t have that assurance that it’ll be successful.”

I want dead or alive 6 exslusive for wii u ;P
I'd settle for DOA5: Zero Suit Samus Edition. It's weird Wii U never got DOA5U when it got NG3RE and now Team Ninja's involved with Hyrule Warriors and Fatal Frame V. Even Vita got a version of DOA5.

I thought the Gameblog guy had a good track record before Devil's Third? Isn't that why his previous 3rd party mature game rumor was given any credence in the first place?

This to the max. Same feeling I have every time that Mass Effect hopes and dreams of next gen thread gets bumped after having been idle for a while. :(

-New pokemon on 3ds 2 weeks before the official announce if I remember correctly.
-Amiibo(wihout the real name) in smash bros one month before e3.

Those are shipped numbers, not actual sell-through, no? I'd think actual sales were quite a bit worse if the NPD numbers we got were any indication.

Nintendo buys Capcom and Resident Evil 7, Devil May Cry 5 and Street Fighter 5 are going to be Wii U exclusive.

On a serious note: imagine if Nintendo really did buy Capcom after that whole thing happened with them being able to be bought. Would be nuts.

Amen. Although the Wii U has been better than the Wii for this so far, localisation of Nintendo games is still a massively patchy and unknown quantity.

I think we'll see a localization announced at the next Direct. Hopefully Iwata is feeling well enough to do one for August/early Sept.
