Yeah, it's sickening. And we have still to pay the same price as the americans, even while only getting access to a third of their library.
The old Japanese execs don't understand non-Japanese markets, make no effort to understand those markets, and see global revenue as secondary when it comes to most anime, so they have no incentive to give a shit about other markets.

Baccano! OVAs

What a tease.

While I thought the series ended nicely the OVAs do a good job adding further detail to some of the characters' stories. We are also introduced to Graham Specter, a rather eccentric fellow whose motivations are all over the place. He was really interesting and fit quite well with the other characters in Baccano!. We got more of some of the minor characters in the main series such as Chane, Rachel and Jacuzzi's gang. No major character developments but it was nice to get some additional information about them. It's a shame we didn't get to see more of Ladd and the woman he was protecting only to kill. I want to know why she was so important to him.

Are the OVAs needed to see the complete story? Not really. But it was good to see more of the minor characters in the series. The ending leave the story open for more though I doubt we'll see any. :(

Tokyo ESP Episode 3

Today's episode wasn't bad. We got to see more esper powers and a mysterious teleporter like Kazuma. And there was a flying penguin.

You must believe. One day we will get a season 2. I mean who would of thought Durarara would get a season 2.

What's really weird is when they don't license stuff for the Scandinavian market, but does for other European countries. Who even blocks them? There's nobody releasing any anime here except Ghibli stuff and a few other random movies.

HAPINESS CHARGEEEEEEEEEEEE PRECURE - 22

Oh yeah ....

OH YEAAAAAAAAAH

This is the kind of mid season battle i want

The good kind:
Happi_precure_22.gif

And then you add the cool lines , the forgiveness, the cool transformations, not once a dimp in budget or animation, everythins was SPOT-ON.

That despair .That cure tender reveal that she
lost only because she was protecting her sister

Precure Hunter , i knew he was competent but i didn't know he was so competent .. damn this "joker-level" of despair with this insane hability.
So good, you're making most of the previous antagonist of teh precure series , hang in despair at how pathetic they were .

Precure Hunter BEST antagonist !!
Just look at this:
Happiness.Charge.Precure.22_01.jpg
Happiness.Charge.Precure.22_02.jpg

Happiness.Charge.Precure.22_03.jpg
Happiness.Charge.Precure.22_04.jpg

Soooo good , please stay untill the end , you deserve it !

Hapiness charge precure is so good right now ...SO good...
That episode was Hype

Look , our cards were used, i guess we have to take new ones !
Look a new toy , don't forget to buy this , children !

but it's ok ..this episode was great.

Precure Hunter is the shit, all other villains can get rekt

Only joker ( smile precure ) was near his level , everyone else is left in the DUST in term of simple capacity , then you can put Gooyan ( splash star ) afterward in third place but NOTHING remotely comes close to precure hunter on the protagonist side in those 10 years.

And i'm loving it !

Someone mentioned I should watch Durarara right after Baccano! Hmm... what to do... :p

Durararara

can you use a vpn with crunchyroll?
I never dared to fumble with VPNs. I just use some browser plugins to dodge some YouTube videos.

I am home with sour popsicles, time for some anime.

Yeah, it's really sad.

Psycho-Pass 4

That was a strange episode that escalated quickly, RIP Spooky Boogie you were a cool cat
I would actually like if they didn't just drop the internet after that story.

Tokyo ESP Episode 3

I am interested. Didn't you think that the action was pretty lifeless?

I wouldn't do that. As far as I heard, DRRRRRR has very unsatisfying "end".

Subete no aware
Yama no Susume 2-3

You know, perhaps it was because of the delay in watching the episodes or whatever, but I think I'm swinging back toward Yama no Susume as the "you can do it!" show of the season. Hanayamata has the infectiously (perhaps insipidly depending on your mindset) genki Hana to drive the show forward and to bring out Naru, but Yama is a lot more subtle about it all.

Having a first season of short episodes do a lot of the ground work forced them to keep Aoi's development extremely efficient, without room for too much meandering. And while the half-episode length gives them a lot more wiggle room, they still keep the pace fairly brisk compared to a full length episode. There is no need for "filler" cuts that are just pans of the background, and you can feel the show move without it feeling completely rushed. Sure, episode 2 is probably mostly unnecessary in the grand scheme of things, because it just sets up the next little arc, but I don't really mind giving the characters a little time to express their personalities.

And it's strange. Aoi has had what amounts to one season's worth of character development... but all fit into what would be a single episode of a standard anime. So with the heavy lifting done, they can have her realize how she can inspire herself much more effective without being forced to show her as an extremely shy girl. It feels like a natural evolution of the character rather than something set up just to have her make a gigantic life-altering moment of self-realization.

Of course, comparing Yama no Susume and Hanayamata is more for the sake of having a discussion more than anything else. They both do the "make a friend and learn more about yourself" arc pretty well in their own right, and having two of these shows is great if you're into that arc. After getting a taste of Tamayura again, and even in the Non Non Biyori OVA, it's nice to have shows that are going to go deep into that character arc.

Yeah the action does seem lifeless. I mean you would think the studio would add a bit more life to the action, but naw. I don't hate it and I feel the studio could of done a lot better job. The reason I keep on watching is due to the X-Men type of powers, but I'll eventually read the manga once it's done.

I guess they don't make enough money off your market to make licensing the shows worth it.

Elfen Lied it is! Mike can't be the only one watching horrible anime. Someone has to suffer with him. At least that's how I'm sure he planned it.

As long as things aren't really boring my tolerance for bullshit plot, fucked up violence and stupid characters are high. Enjoy ;)

Oh thank god. If you liked X-Men, Tokyo ESP won't disappoint you. Except the anime as far as I see it now.

Crunchyroll usually just licences United States and if it is possible get a world wide licence. That means they don't think the rest of the world can't come even close to america and japan.

Ill describe them too of course.
Oh good. I just saw already three times people making giant lists with names in this thread.
I've only watched the first episode so far. Is "train shots" a euphemism?
I have a similar thought after watching the pictures in his post. Well, nothing against some nice traincars, yes.

Precure Hunter is lame, give me back Dark Precure.

yeah you're right i forgot dark precure...
She was great but she got plumelled SO HARD by cure moonlight that you kinda forget that she was strong as well.

Gonna change my ranking

Precure hunter > joker > dark precure > gooyan

Dark precure was just a tool, that's why she cannot rise higher in my list . precure hunter is following his ideals. you feel that he is more loyal , than submissive.

I think bringing together seemingly unrelated storylines is fine, but I will always question why the story is being told from multiple perspectives. Each individual thread is inherently weaker, so if they aren't working cooperatively or drawing parallels from an early stage then it all seems fairly pointless. The third episode of Terror fixates around the cop character, but what does the check in with the stories other characters achieve outside of reminding the viewer that they exist? Lisa's mom is still delusional and thinks people are maracas. Glasses terrorist guy still has borderline sepia tone flashbacks about immoral testing. These characters can't feel complete when they exist only to slavishly serve the inevitably preachy ideals the show is building towards.

Have you ever seen Paranoia Agent?

^Because the final link was labelled NSFW I figured the other two would be fine, haha.

It's getting to that part of a cycle when i'm recognizing less and less names in this thread. Weird how that happens.

It's just the nature of the churn though. Soon it'll be clear whose staying and whose leaving.

I've seen people banned for less, and I've only been here since early last year. It's a shame, really.

The Duckroll/Dresden menace that destroyed a community. What a shame.

Plenty originals are still here. They just don't post as much as they used to it seems.
