3d blurays are great, way better than in basic cinemas, sharper, no cross talk (my tv is a panasonic plasma)
Jurassic Park in 3d is amazing!

Now I finally can unplug my ps3 from the living room :)

Now I don't have to use my PS3 for 3D blue-rays :) and with this patch now it means PS4 gets 3D before the Xbox one as their August patch isn't out yet :p

Next up needs to be DLAN though Microsoft may have to announce this first...

I watch a lot of movies like this tbh.
This is how I usually catch up on what I've missed during the year.
I don't have that much time to watch a 90mins movie, so I use this feature with subtitle on since I can read the text faster instead of waiting for them to speak.

Sometime, I do the 15-20sec skip buffer too since you can still understand the overall context by reading what the next person will say.
If it is a dull/action movie, maybe skipping every 2-5mins since it is a Hollywood movie, nothing is important or complex enough to not be able to understand the plot by the end of the movie.

What are the best 3D movies out there?

One of the best 3D stereoscopic games for me is Batman Arkham City, really looks amazing in 3D on PS3.

I wish they would improve the wierd sound skipping issue I get when playing some blurays. An example would be Cosmos, it runs great on PS3, but has a wierd audio skip on PS4.

the notification thing is so random. Any idea what would have caused them to swap sides?

was it constantly covering up anything important or did they realize people are used to notifications on the top right from their PS3 and most modern operating systems use the top right corner (Windows 8.1, OS X) or at least the righthand side of the screen (Steam, Skype) as well.

Nice, now I can finally watch Pacific Rim in 3D.

Still find it kind of funny that MS is the first to announce 3D playback and Sony overtakes them and releases it earlier.

I cant understand this, I mean if you are happy to then more power to you but if you can watch like this then either the show isnt very good to begin with or you are just missing a tonne of subtle actions/interactions etc that probably give some weight to the actual plot/action etc.

I don't know anyone. I barely even know people who watch normal Blu-rays. IMO Germany is extremely behind in that regard.

I'm not a 3D person.. it's nice in a good cinema, but I don't need it at home. Specifically bought a TV without 3D since it was much cheaper.

This update does nothing for me.. where's my friggin suspend/resume?

Perhaps they do this so that they can advise devs to put important game HUD stuff on the upper right side? Now OS notifications were on both sides. But yeah, somehow, upper right side feels better, but it's an improvement that they've picked one side.

I can still see and hear the subtle interaction/tone while still able to read the subtitles.
1.5x isn't that fast at all, it is still slow enough to catch all the subtleties from the actors.

I am more of an overview/summary kind of guy. I am probably one of the worse person to take to a movie as well. I usually create 3-4 scenario for the plot/ending, and just watch the scenes as a mini-game to see if my predictions come up spades.

I have to disagree in this point. I am from gemany too and know a lot of people which at least watch blue rays and also 3d blue rays. And i bought a 3d tv one year ago, where tvs with similar quality and without 3d were not really cheaper. of course there are cheaper tvs, but according to tests and user experiences, these also had a lot lower 2d picture quality. so i think 3d is a basic feature now for tvs with good quality.
And i also find 3d way better at home than in cinemas. I sit in the absolute right position for 3d, have shutter technique and can configure the sound like i wish.

But of course this is only my opinion.

FPS games have their radars in the top left corner.
sports games have the clock / scores in the top left corner.
any Action RPG kind of game has the "character stats" like health / mana either on the bottom or in the top left corner.

notifications are on the righthand side of the screen in every major desktop OS.

i agree with you on the last sentence, though.

edit: Just installed the update and I now have brand new flickering on my screen. Oh fuck. edit 2: And then it stopped just like that. I'm still scared though lol.

no, because it came with quite a lot of features ootb, didn't it?
even less, later, because it broke CFW compatibility and removed features like OtherOS.

right now, the only way to go, feature wise, is up!
