Hey, if I get more people to check out Black Jack, it's worth it!

I'm not saying Black Jack is bad. I mean, the stories are all a lot of fun, it's just looks and feels really cheap.

It's kind of the reason why I want more people to watch it. It feels so overlooked in many places. And sure, it looks cheap, but the designs come from one of the grand-daddies of manga and anime in general. This guy's works influenced people like Miyazaki and Toriyama. Age may have done some work on it, but there's still some great stuff in that show that I'd like more people to see.

Personally I was only interested in doctor batman and his adventures. But they kept focusing on the kids and I lost interest.

Yeah, another reason why it's mostly overlooked is that Black Jack does focus on the kids quite a bit. I thought it balanced the focus quite nicely, but the kid characters can be a turn off to some people.

I figured Hito won't mind them since Doremi apparently focuses on kids as well. Certainly much more than Black Jack does.

Absolutely nothing. Actually I like Brotherhood's ending more than the original. I just like the originals pacing better and I just liked the original more. To a degree I liked the animation more in the original.

It's nothing against brotherhood. I just really liked the original.

That's a pretty tough list. Even the relatively popular Key stuff is divisive, and the shows you named are pretty consistently disliked here. Shounen Jump adaptations tend to get looked down on, so there's not a lot of Death Note love. There's a small but hardcore contingent of Hyouka haters. And of course there are tons of people who had their hearts broken by AnoHana because they liked Kanna more than Ichika for some goddamn reason.

Like I said I have so many more to add to the list. Notice how Air and Kanon aren't on the list yet so you know I haven't worked on it extensively. I have just watched so much that I have to literally go A-Z just to see what I have and haven't watched. Unfortunately MAL also makes EVERYTHING in "Japanese Titles". So that hinders me a bit. Today or tomorrow I am going into it and finish it all up while watching G Gundam. Hopefully. I know there's 100+ anime that I still haven't added yet.

I generally like what they did with uplifting the XIX century France into distant future but during the poisoning case, it felt jarring that no one used a god damned phone. Surely when you have spaceships and interstellar travel, phones should be readily available.

The music during the church coffin reveal was godly.

You know, people have been harsh on the recent performance of legend Kotono Mitsuishi, but I could never even fault her for some miscast like that when without her love for Risa Itō's work we wouldn't have had the animated series.

I generally like what they did with uplifting the XIX century France into distant future but during the poisoning case, it felt jarring that no one used a god damned phone. Surely when you have spaceships and interstellar travel, phones should be readily available.

The music during the church coffin reveal was godly.

The music in that show is top tier. I remember one particularly haunting scene in a later episode. The music and the English voice actor made a certain scene truly godly.

The animation this episode was rrrrrough outside the actual RahXephon fight. I can't believe Ayato didn't immediately put 2 and 2 together with Mamoru's sudden appearance outside the barrier and the sudden dolem attack. You'd think he would after what happened with Asahina! He's too busy with his "I will protect everyone!" mantra, which will eventually probably cause him to kill Mamoru, although he deserves it. Mamoru's just a manipulative dick

Just because it didn't follow the manga doesn't mean it's bad. It means BONES had their own ideas for how the show should progress. Plus during production of the original FMA I believe the manga wasn't even finished.

I know it seems like a lot, but I've seen so much, and it's hard to pick what's definitely the best out of those! For film I definitely have a top 5/10, but for TV anime it's much more difficult...

Digimon Adventure: 1 - 13

So ends the first arc of the first season of Digimon. After the quick warm up of almost everyone's digimon evolving for the first time, they all get separated by our first villain, Devimon. A couple episodes of character development while they regroup, and we get the show down with Devimon. Naturally, he wipes the floor with everyone, until he tries to finish off Patamon, the only digimon yet to evolve. And of course, Patamon evolves for the first time into Angemon, slaying the devil that is Devimon, and reverting back to an Egg due to the power drain being too much on his body. A mysterious old man appears to the group, leaving us on a cliffhanger to start the next arc.

Digimon's first arc is a good one, giving us a nice introduction to the series while giving all the characters enough focus to give them personality.

I don't think I'd have watched this show beyond the first episode were it not for the positive impressions that fellow gaffers put out there for the later parts of the series. Truly glad that I went through and finished it. Thanks for keeping me from missing out on this one guys and here's to Season 2 in the fall!

Nah, it's probably my nostaliga. I tried to watch the japanese dub once, but it just sounds wrong. The Digimon and their humans will be forever weird german speaking in this weird world where I am not always sure if is Japan or the US.

And at least we had a version of Butterfly instead of the weird american opening.
