Resident Evil HD Remaster confirmed for PS3/PS4/360/XB1/PC

So it really has to be playable on every major console ever released?
Sry but I don't see how all these HD "remasters" lately are necessary.

I played it on Gamecube and on DS

Well no game is necessary. This is just a good way to make money.

Yet its clear they've taken the 2D assets and applied filters. How exactly could it look better on the new gen consoles if they've used the same tricks?

Re-rendering all of those pre-rendered backgrounds for higher resolution instead of just using sharp filters is my guess.

Well....I'm getting it. I need some more REmake in my life.

I really doubt they'll do it but I'll kill for a "hard mode" to be available to both Chris and Jill. I love playing as Jill but hate that she's basically easy mode.

I always wanted to play the REmake so i'm very happy about this.

Can't wait!

Why does it matter to you? If you've already played it and don't feel the need to play the remaster, then this has literally no bearing on your life. It can only be a good thing for more people to play REmake. (Assuming of course it's a good port).

How do you feel about the new Resident Evils in comparison to this installment?

This isn't a remaster that's just being thrown out there solely for profit, even if it's being handled that way seemingly in development.

Deadly Silence isn't even the same game as REmake, even if they are both takes on the original

What a deceptive image. Here is the texture as it appears on GC/Wii.

Right. On what TV is GC REmake looking like that? The only way that game looks like that is a thumbnail sized source screenshot.

People giving crapcom money for a shit port is a bad thing yes.

Well nobody will force them to pay for it full price. And we don't know from now 'till November 2014 if they can optimize it and make it look better. If it ends up a shit port they will just wait for a 70% discount sale...

Stopped supporting ≠ boycott. I still played some of their games, like RE4+5, but I waited for the prices to be halved, at least. Now, that the game which started it all is coming back home, I have no reason to pass on playing it.

Is this a pun on PlayStation home or are you such a fan you call anything PS related home?

It's actually disgustingly common for companies to make the "before" shots in comparisons for remasters look much worse than they really did.

I remember the Okami HD shots being particularly guilty of this. The images they used for the 'original' quality were atrocious.

It sold 1.35 million for GC's ~22 million userbase, how much do you think it's going to sell to Wii U's smaller userbase? Especially considering, that horror games, like REmake, RE0, RE4, and Zombie U, have never sold as well on Nintendo platforms as they have elsewhere.

RE4 sales doubled when it went back to the PS2, and RE5 sales more than doubled on the PS3 compared to the RE4 sales on Wii, eventhough the latter had a larger userbase.

The REmake is clearly made for a new audience, and platforms where it's likely going to sell better.

I can't wait for the millions of people to buy it on 360 and X1 in Japan.

Damn, I think it might even outsell the PS3 and PS4. Dude, you are hurt or some shit about the past and you are still salty now. Let it go dude. It is a new generation.

To be fair, REmake upscaled to 1080p on my Wii U looks a lot more like the image on the right (though not as bad), which is understandable.

If we're getting a native version of the backgrounds at 1080p, it should look just as good as that native 480p image.

I love RE Revelations on the 3DS and would prefere a Revelations 2 to REmake HD

Ehhh..
Well I just prefer people to work on actual new stuff instead of Remakes.
But I'm also the kind of person that is mostly more excited for new IPs than repeating ones. But I guess Capcom needs the money, so allright - it's not a bad thing. But the people working on it might do a great job on something new, too.

Yeah... that's why I bought it in the first place on DS ;)

I call the platforms where the series had its four entries before the REmake its home, just like some might call Nintendo platforms Rare's home, or Xbox Bioware's.

Why the hang-up in having series on their "home"? It's a fucking plastic box playing a game, enjoy the games not the hardware.

S-Video or Component on a 640x480 TV.

In all my years playing the game (still have it and play semi-regularly on Gamecube), I've never had the game look like that, even if you were to remove the various filters and whatever from the game.

Maybe it's the assets prior to downsampling and alterations, or its a render of the mansion on what someone thought it would look like on PC. But GC/Wii as is?

From the comparison on the site, it looks like they took the original 3D files and re rendered them at 1080p. As long as they have the original source files, it should be easy to just change the resolution and re-render. EDIT - Upscaling wouldn't reveal the pockmarked texture on the candle holder, it would be a blurry mess.

No, they didn't. The "Original" picture here has been made to look like shit for some reason.

Here's the same place being run through Dolphin. It's the Gamecube version, and you can see the same amount of detail as in the "Remaster".

EDIT: Agh, beaten.
