Why did Activison put a Sierra website up?

I mean, its not going to be anything but a studio based on exploiting the Sierra name and not an actual return to form... Right?
It's Activision. How many chances would you see to have them working on what are generally perceived as niches with low profit margins just to please nostalgic gamers?

So after trying to get rid of them in 2008 Activision finally realised they can use the brand to sell hype to whatever they will do now.

Oh man, if this is a sign of a revival of Sierra/Vivendi Games, HNNNNG!!!

They were awesome IMO during last gen before they were eaten so to speak, they actually gave a shit about Crash and Spyro.

Whoa, color me surprised. Hopefully it will be something new, and not just some push for the already announced GK1 remake.

There is like a 0% chance this isn't a nefarious F2P iOS game right?

I want to get excited about the prospects of new Sierra stuff in 2014 but its still Activision. Best to temper that hype I guess.

You know what this means....

METAL ARMS 2 MOTHERFUCKERS.

Haha, just kidding. More like $40 steam versions of classic PC games.

Prototype 2, singularity, deadpool, blur. If they don't sell it's not there fault.
Eh? Are you for real?
What makes you think those games you just mentioned, beside being flops, were "niche genres" to any degree?
You listed third person action games, shooters, racing games.

It'll be Activision's new digital storefront/DRM service.
Eh, beaten you to that prediction:

God, I hope I'm wrong.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
Thread is making me feel really old.

Get off my lawn, new Sierra logo.

Please Spyro.

This better be as amazing as I hope it will be. Give me some King's Quest. Or even a proper leisure suit Larry.

New Quest for Glory series, c'mon!

In the original QfG using text input to ask questions and figuring out what to do next, or who to talk to was amazing, their responses and learning about the world and people. Then there was climbing trees over and over to level up climbing(which actually mattered), throwing knives at the targets to level up throwing, joining one of the guilds, most notably the thieves guild was so memorable. Drinking Dragon's Breath... always a great idea! And the combat was fun and well done. The game had so much humor and many memorable characters. If they could figure out a way to make the game work again without betraying the core mechanics, I would be all over that.

Whatever happens, I want the DOS versions of Thexder, Slipheed, WiBARM, Zeliard, Fire Hawk, and Sorcerian to go up on GOG. I suspect Activision still holds the rights to these conversions, which is a bummer. Square-Enix is unlikely to bring Thexder Neo to DD and CD Projekt would have to fly through hoops to get untranslated emulated versions of the Japanese originals working.

Would be interested if it's some sort of return to form, especially in the RPGish Q4G fashion. Point and clicks/similar have certainly had a bit of a renaissance.

Hoping for Quest for Glory, none of that King's Quest nonsense.

My man.

Edit: Earthsiege...that's a name I've not heard in a damn long time. Man, what happened Sierra. What happened.
