I am not seeing anything that disprove Keighley wrong, unless they come out and say, "Rise of the Tomb Raider is exclusive for the Xbone." otherwise it's safe to assume that it's a time exclusive.
Geoff writes it like it's a timed exclusive by saying "for holiday 2015". While Microsoft acts like it's a full exclusive.

It remains to be seen whether or not it's a full exclusive.
I think thats just him reacting to the reactions of the announcement thats all.
My thoughts exactly.

That can't be true.
Why? Sure they are the developers but what would anybody lower than either the studio founder or president be involved in deals like these? They should have been given a heads-up, but it's not surprising they weren't. And he might be responding to reactions, as well.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Why are we so hypocrite about this stuff.
Okay this isn't a standard or wise thing to do. But Sony and Microsoft both have been doing this for years. Now some may argue wait, Sony doesn't moneyhatt for full exclusivity. But they do for exclusive content. We have been seeing this for years, they get extra 1hr playtime for AC, WatchDog, exclusive content for Destiny.

What I am trying to say is, for people who think this is morally wrong and shit. And don't want to support. Then stop buying all those games and not just Tomb Raider. You might think I am comparing apple to oranges but if you see the bigger picture I really am not. If Sony had that much cash, they would be doing the same practice. So its not cool to think well 1hr extra content and some timed exclusive content is great but the entire game is not.

So either you are okay with the whole thing, in which case, that fine. Or you don't support this kind of crap at all. That's also fine, but then stop buying COD, AC, Destiny, etc. and games like that which has exclusive features for each console. And you know if you do that, then you have my respect. But enough with the double standard people.

Well after Type 0 not on Vita and many big franchises on mobile i would say we can expect ANYTHING from Square.

Since Rise of the Tomb Raider is releasing in 2015 exclusively for Xbox One, it's obvious that FFXV will be released in 2015 exclusively for PS4.

Everything makes sense.

The only way that happens
and it won't because it's probably not coming out in 2015
is if it's in Japan first.

This is a fairly big megaton. Will Sony now announce something that they weren't originally planning to (as in something they were saving for another time) in order to counter? Can they make that kind of change to thier press conference in a few hours time?

Reminds me when Tomb Raider I came out on both the Playstation and the Saturn...then part II only came out on the Playstation. I was very saddened...good thing I have all the new consoles now!

It's a xbone exclusive just like blood born is a ps4 exclusive.
What is with this terrible analogy being drawn? It's been drawn more than once now.

Bloodborne is a SCEJ co-developed SCE published SCE owned new IP, always announced as an exclusive title. It is not a sequel to a multiplatform reboot, from a multiplatform franchise, published by a third party publisher, made by a third party developer, owned by a third party publisher, formerly announced for multiple platforms.

Ok... who's the chucklefuck (necronzero) who responded to that tweet? That seems like it was definitely about Robin William's death, and not some console war shit.

Tweet was posted before Robin Williams news broke.

Also, it's absolutely bizarre that I'm using the death of Robin Williams to assist in building a timeline of events.

He sounds thrilled.

It feels like he got the news from SQEX to stop development on PS4/3/PC versions and they'd announce at Gamescom that RoTR was now an Xbox exclusive and he was just like 'Fucking great, now I'm gonna get death threats.'

At the very least the Salty posts have reason to be. There's no reason to celebrate this unless you're a fanboy, plain and simple.

You can celebrate the salt. People lost their shit over Bayonetta 2. FF 13. Those kind of people's reactions are fun to witness. Memes have come out of this process.

The amount of backlash this is getting I don't see it selling systems. MS is gambling because if this is a true exclusive they put out a lot of money for this. It's not going to move the sales needle. This isn't a hyped game like Titanfall which moved the needle albeit only a small margin.

If MS put out more money then they will see in return(console sales) it's another negative for the division. At what point do investors say this is enough?

Halo will be the ultimate game from their portfolio to compete with Sony's Uncharted, but considering that TR has good amount of followers on both PC and PS3, it will definitely help in moving bundles.

If they're working on it now, they're not stopping development on them. They'll just hold them back for later/prioritize the Xbox versions.

But ya, I bet he's totally not thrilled with having to deal with Twitter nonsense right now, especially since they bungled the message so badly

I have this image of Phil Spenser holding a gun to your head. It's videogames ...they can't force you to do anything. They're merely enticing you with something you want.

The only way to not play the salty exclusives game is to just own every console. It's easy, both consoles within one year of launch are only $800 USD. That's a steal compared to this time last generation.

But seriously, when was it definitively announced as multiplat?
"Only $800"

You may wipe your ass with $100 bills but don't act like it's totally reasonable and affordable for everyone to own all of the consoles

MS is in desperate mode, they NEED to move systems, add that to the fact they have no trust whatsoever to their first party studios and this shouldn't come as a surprise. Still the amount of money, they possibly paid for this, doesn't make sense

Pretty much this. All and all, Forza Horizon has been created as a direct competitor to DC. They bombarded with words like social integration, clubs and the 'best social racing game ever'. I do think that competition is good but copying a game or in this case, buying exclusivity deals to have a direct competitor to Uncharted is lame and should not be applauded.

Edit: I meant Horizon 2.

Your edit doesn't make sense either.

The speed of this salt-train is astonishing cant wait for the Sony presser and see the reactions.

The whole " they didn't want to compete with uncharted" thing is laughable. People buy more than one game during the holidays. People will buy both games not choose between them.

It's a xbone exclusive just like blood born is a ps4 exclusive.

No is not, would be comparable if the game was Dark Souls 3 instead of Bloodborne.

He knew Robin Williams died two hours before the media?

How'd he pull that shit off, exactly?

This story just won't stop unfolding!

Plot thickens.

He signed the NDA about everything. Everything was exclusive.

Goddamnit guys :p

Huh? My timestamp says 3pm yesterday, which is right about when news of Robin Williams' death broke out.

No it wasn't. That news broke after I got home from work, so much later. Try 5-6 PM.

Because most of the people that bought TR, bought it on either PS3, PS4 or PC. Yet that majority of people are unable to buy the sequel unless they happen to also have an xbox in their house.

I'd say being pissed off is an acceptable response to this announcement.

No, it it must be SALT! That is the correct fanboy response, lol... You can understand people being upset with this, that is not salt, but hey, let the warriors gloat..
