Just because we don't know the reason, or the reason isn't immediately obvious to us does not mean that there is *NO* reason.

That's true, but it also doesn't carry much weight. If this leak is footage sent to the ESRB, why would some content be locked/unavailable? Would the ESRB not have - would they not demand to have - access to all the game's content? Unless there's a compelling reason why the ESRB footage wouldn't have contained them, I'd say an ICs reveal would pretty much sink the leak.

What proof do we have that the person who posted the pictures on 4chan is the one who took the pictures? What proof do we have that he is also privy to the DLC roster? Every other section of stages is organized 2 rows, 1 column. Leaker made a huge mistake making the first row different.

I really hope Ice Climbers makes it in because the only good reason I could think of for cutting them is that Sakurai couldn't make them work on the 3DS, and I don't want those characters held back because of some hardware limitation.

While not an exact comparison, if four Rosalina's can work on 3DS I'm not sure what would hold back Ice Climbers.

I'm starting to wonder if the Subspace is the only reason Brawl didn't have a bunch of Melee style clones like Smash 4 seems to have.

But Brawl's "clones" were generally much more differentiated and must have had more development time than Melee's. I think it was mostly a design choice. I don't see how less development time and resources would have resulted in less "quick" clones with reused assets.

This new Smash bros, if this line up is real seems to be going in a direction where either the character is completely new, or it's a straight up Melee-type clone, differently from Brawl, which attempted to make the clones more unique in general, both old and new. The former approach might have been considered mistaken due to the negative reaction to those characters anyway.

Also they had to also either get lucky with Planet Zebes stage, or also edited that in extremely quickly, as the leak was only like 10 hours after Zebes was shown.

10 hours is enough time to change a portion of the image.

No, it's not an IP address. It's a kind of password you can use on a site like 4chan, where everyone's posting anonymously, to "sign" your posts. Someone better versed in this stuff than I could do a better job explaining this, but as I understand it, you come up with a password that you type at the end of your post, and then the site scrambles it into a code which is attached to your post.

Also I've been playing the second Taiko no Tatsujin game for 3DS and I now want DON-CHAN as a newcomer.

He is in Pac-Man's taunt already, but I think he would be fun to play as. If you've never played Taiko no Tatsujin, it's a rhythm game based on the large Japanese taiko drum. With red circles you hit the drum, and on the blue circles you hit the side of the drum. There are also big circles where you have to hit with both sticks (or a specific area on the 3DS version), and other special notes where you can hit anything or you have to tap really fast.
You can dress him up in the game, so he has a large array of alt costumes. Also you can palette swap his brother, Katsu, into the game.

Also he was already in Mario Kart arcade.

Before the Rayman trophy was revealed, multiple sources claimed that Rayman was planned but eventually scrapped, most likely over the delay. Even our very own John Harker revealed that Ubisoft wanted Rayman in Smash but Nintendo said no.

That's not what happened. You're either willfully misinformed, a liar, or incapable of reading comprehension because no source ever said that's why Rayman wasn't accepted.

Nor was he scrapped, which implies he was ever in the game in the first place. Ubisoft posited the idea, Sakurai said he didn't feel it appropriate for the game, that was the end of the discussion on Rayman as a playable character.

Please do not masquerade false information as truth, it's how the shittier forumtruths get started.

Do we know that's the *ONLY* footage sent to the ESRB? Maybe there's more footage where the CSS is fully revealed.

Also, just because he posted the pictures doesn't mean that he took them. Maybe friend/family (or friend of a friend) works for ESRB, gave him the pictures, and then he made up the DLC part?

If there's a possibility it can be explained away, it's not proof for or against the leak, unfortunately. At this point, only sakurai or the game itself can prove or disprove it.


I'm team real, personally, but have no qualms about it being confirmed fake. So far none of the 'fake' evidence has sold me, nor will a reveal of ice climbers. If i can come up with a reasonable scenario for their exclusion from that 'esrb footage', then that doesn't disprove it to me.

On the subject of "too big", I'd love to see a playable Mother Brain. She could move around on a mechanical platform or just float ala the Aurora from Metroid Prime 3. Her specials could be the obstacles in Tourian (turrets, Cheerios, those regenerating barriers). Instead of having the monster form be a final smash, I'd make it a "super" transformation that can only be activated at a certain damage threshold. Her actual final smash would be the hyper beam.

Ya'know I was thinking about that ''leak'' earlier and how silly it is to have Dr. Mario as a playable character again. Sakurai is going great lengths for some of the alt costumes, so having two Mario's on the roster just seems so jarring.

Then it hit me. Besides Sakurai's whole philosophy on why Lucina is playable. Transformations are gone. We have a roster with two Zelda's and Samus's so I guess having two Mario's isn't as weird as I first thought.

The ESRB don't actually play the games they rate, right?

Wouldn't the footage Nintendo had given them be recorded using a game capture device, or some other method Nintendo has to record directly from a 3DS? Why would Nintendo give them such shitty quality video?

The way the pictures are taken makes it look like someone is taking pictures of a 3DS (which we can't see for some reason)...but we've already established that they wouldn't actually be playing the game.

Why would you even be able to see that Wifi is 'disablad'. Seems weird that it would be showing up on the screen, especially on a fight against CPU's.
