Yeah the Metroid file doesn't necessarily mean it's related to the DLC, could just be a resource on the webpage for something else.

But god we better get Samus eventually. I don't care if I have to wait for Mario Kart 9

Again, I'll repeat the lucrative precedent this could set:

20XX - MK9 is released. 32 tracks, all set in the Mario universe. Costs $60.

A half-year later: A DLC pack comes out with two new cups, four new karts and several new characters from other Nintendo IP, all for $15.

Months later, another pack does the same, also for $15.

For every four DLC packs sold (a $60 value), Nintendo effectively sold another copy of Mario Kart. More than that, actually, since they make much more money off digital content.

All of this, while maintaining interest and getting more bang for their advertising buck.

I don't like that idea. I'd rather they explore IPs outside of Mario in their main game, too, and I think $15 is too expensive per pack.

Is this a Excitebike track? :O

man this is a let down of a thread

i was hoping for more "NINTENDO HAS BEEN CORRUPTED BY EVIL MAINSTREAM PRACTICES" posts like the mario golf season pass thread

people have been generally accepting of nintendo's dlc because it's extra game content. if you want to see backlash, check out the hyrule warriors threads where that dlc is about costume sets.

I'm definitely preordering this mofo. Pretty excited! Hopefully we can finally get more Nintendo characters into MK. Samus and Kirby, anyone?

Nintendo, you're too good to me.
With tomorrows update/free Mercedes DLC, upcoming amiibo support and these two expansion packs, MK8 is going to have some serious legs.

This is actually the rumor I heard a year ago.

The person who told me said specifically that Diddy was being removed from Mario Kart for a Diddy Kong Racing and they didn't want to create confusion.

He could have been lying, misinformed, or things might have changed, but I didn't think anything of it until MK8's roster was revealed.

You aren't talking about this rumor are you? Because if you've got a different source that could actually make it a whole bit more believable.

As cool as this is I was hoping for some battle only maps. Maybe they'll put it in another pack.

My guess is Nintendo was able to see the data of users who played BM vs Races for MK7, and that BM was in a small minority, so they put their efforts into racing.

I know when i borrowed mk7, and played around 15hrs, that i didnt once play BM, for what thats worth.

MK8 came with the standard number of tracks though. Starved for months? The game came out on May 30th. It hasn't even been three months.

While it was standard it lacked a lot of things like a dedicated battle mode and cut out a lot of characters. The Koopalings, while neat, feel like interchangables left there to fill the void.

MK8 felt rushed and there wasn't a lot of incentives to keep playing. The online was great but it needed more meat to it.

Which reminds me it's kind of disappointing that the DLC doesn't include a better Battle Mode.

Dang, I wasn't expecting this at all, I'm really digging those non-mario themed tracks. I would love to see a Hyrule course, Samus and a Metroid themed course please!

Is it bad that what I'm excited for most is a MK8-style remix of F-Zero music? If it's the Mute city theme...be still my beating heart.
