I think a decent debut, all things considered, would be in the middle between 360 and PS3's debuts for the first game, i.e. 100,000 units...but the more days pass, the less possible it becomes :(
Hopefully, it's more like Hyrule Warriors i.e. preorder pts being quite less than its actual debut.

Those are some low numbers for the Toukiden Expansion compared to the original.

Did Toukiden release before Mon Hun 4?
I'm wondering If the PSP buyers moved onto the 3DS after Mon Hun was released.

So I guess Toukiden is the last multiplatform game between PSP/Vita? Moving forward, it'll be one or the other not both.

YW2 should easily pass 3M by the end of this year, especially with the movie coming out. The series is still growing, we yet to know how far it will go.

I feel very confident it will be Vita and maybe also a console, but definitely not PSP.

Yeah I mean if its gonna be multiplatform it'll be Vita/PS3/PS4, those Touiken PSP numbers shows the fanbase has moved on from PSP.

But I have a feeling niche PSP-only games isn't over yet, even though its very close to that time.

That was the case since mh3g came out since mh4 was also announced exclusively on the 3ds at the same time, the fanbase on the vita is just god eater/toukiden/ss and the like.

regarding toukiden again, expansions rarely outsell their originals, only time they do is when a series is still young and growing.

The fact that Neoromance, Konami Baseball and Uta no Prince-sama is coming to Vita practically means that the last holdovers from the PSP era ( that didn't pull a betrayalthon and go iOS/3DS) have migrated over in entirety.

Those super niche games are only waiting for the respective kings of the genre to move over.

Uta no Prince and Neo-romance are the kings of the otome-game line. Their migration to Vita means every other game in the same genre will shift over in a blink of an eye.

yeah its about time, the psp had a great run all things considered, despite the domination of ds. sony has to thank nintendo with the ds somewhat by making japan handheld land, the psp hardware sales benefited from that fact. too bad the vita lost mh, it would have made things alot more interesting if mh remained on the vita.

bomb, same for hero bank. mainstream games like these only have one chance with its debut, the sequel will do nothing if the original failed to even make a splash on the charts.

I feel that PSP2:I and SSD are the best comparisons. So depending on the tracker, Toukiden Vita did good or okay. I'm sure Toukiden 2 will be for PS4/PSV, though.

MHP2G was still growing the franchise (also FW was supply constrained) and God Eater Burst came with an append disk for people with the original game at a much cheaper price.

I hope those 11k Toukiden PSP sales were worth it Tecmo. Maybe now the next one will be PS4/PSV like it should have been from the start.

All things considered Wii U landing anywhere above the 360 in regards to Bayonetta 2 would be decent. I have a bad feeling it will land below 50k though.

It's funny because it sure feels like they're publishing it in the West too, considering how they keep reminding us of how much of an "exclusive experience" it will be on PS4 lol

Yeah 3DS XL is selling more now, but 3DS sold more overall.
I believe the same was true of DSi.

Will consumers give up the larger screen and battery for greater portability and customization.

Probably Dead Rising 3 or Forza actually. Both are actually exclusive to the XB1 and DR3 is a Capcom game.

I keep getting the bad feeling that the Wii U's YTD in 2014 is actually going to be less than 2013's. Famitu's Wii U hardware numbers really concern me. This week it already dropped to Wii U terrible levels from last year while actually having a decent piece of software release a couple weeks prior (as in that actually sold). It's still a good 60K behind last year's YTD on MC and about 35K on Famitsu. After that last year, the Wii U had a price cut + some very good bundles (Wii Party U), 3D World & Taiko and had a great holiday season. I could potentially see a good holiday season here, but I'm almost worried it'll only do slightly better in the holidays, and much worse leading up to the holidays. It's kind of sad that consoles can't even seem to hit 1m in a year these days (I hope I'm wrong with the Wii U this year =( ).

The Wii U has what this holiday season? Smash (still has no release date, if we don't have one by the beginning of October when 3D World got its release date, I'll be SUPER worried). Toad likely (NA got a release date) and that Kamen Rider game right?

holidays - Smash, Toad

X1 will probably sold something like 30k i doubt 1/3 of peoples will buy DR3 or Forza

The slow climb to 2m begins? Less than 93K to go!

The good about this week, Toukiden has proven the audience has moved away from the PSP onto the Vita. So no more PSV/PSP cross-plats (instead it'll be with the PS4). Youkai Watch 2 & Mario Kart 8 still continue to sell quite well. Decent amount of software sold for the Vita.

The bad news - basically all the hardware numbers apart from the 3DS & Vita being steady.

So for the folks talking about the Vita, what titles are there to actually expand its audience? I guess how many RPGs does the console have? It's got FFX/X-2 HD, a port of a Tales game iirc, and now Mana? Or is there more I'm forgetting.

Basically I see the Vita right now is:
Hunting Action games (God Eater, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden, Phantasy Star Nova)
Anime/Otaku games (too many to count)

Minor genres:
Warriors games
RPGs (FFX/X-2 HD being the main one here)

That's pretty much it for the console?

More like 14k at the same attrition rate as the PS3 version.

The fact III sold so poorly through last time probably didn't help either. It was heavily discounted within 2 weeks so there was little incentive to buy this at release.

Didn't Dead Rising 2 sold decently in Japan (around 80-90k first week on 3, dunno about Xbox). I'd say it could sell above 10k this month.
