I like the "road trip" angle or whatever this is presenting, but I wanna know what that does to exploration.

Are you strictly limited to going where that road goes? Can you drive off-road? Do you get to stop whenever or wherever you want? Can I get out and walk over to those hills over there? Because if not, then this is basically FF13's hallway with a more clever coat of paint, but you are still just limited to an elongated hallway.

I still don't know what they're really promising here.

My biggest problem is that it seems like there is no thematic consistency in the art design.

Huge Dinosaur monsters, naturalistic landscapes, and then a Mercedes Benz driving around with future looking knight dudes to fight.

Just doesn't seem to tie together at all and is lacking a unifying cohesive vision.

I agree. Interested to see how all of this fits. 90% of the footage shows FFXV is during some sort of huge war or something...then we get this. The main characters are taking a road trip and it seems like some sort of love story. Wtf?

Well hopefully the story would explain it so it makes sense.

Seems like Cor and Gladiolos became one character

No way. They didn't even show him until last year's E3, it's way too far along to scrap something like that. I imagine since this is the "bro" part of the game Cor isn't involved, as he is older and is more of a bodyguard than Noctis' friend.

Funny, the randomness is what appeals to me the most.

I looove the road trip thing.

Destiny will win GOTY this year. If Destiny came out in 2015 it would easily win GOTY.

Haha, you wish, after being slammed by the media the way it was? FFXV may be a piece of crap when it releases (and it sure is shaping to be one), but Destiny isn't GOTY material not in a million years. Maybe by Destiny 3 they'll get it right.

You're going to have find the ultimate suspension and ultimate tires if you want to offroad in that thing.

I'm guessing the combat was so much slower cause they're maybe lower leveled?

or is it another Nomura purposely slowed down the combat for the video because noctis is "too fast"

Seems like a strange problem to have. It's a car driving through the countryside with some FF monsters acting as wildlife. Nothing that really screams "confused art design".

I think the combat looks good.

Maybe they had to slow it down to make it more deliberate and strategic.

Yeah, it's slower but still okay. Maybe it'll fasten up the more you level up.

I have never played a Final Fantasy game before and I'm super impressed with this. Do I have to play one to understand what's going on or can I jump in here? If not, where should I start/avoid?

You can jump right in.

At the end of trailers, is that "Distant Worlds" music? The game look gorgeous...can not wait to see more gameplays footage .

There's no way this game can live up to the hype, unfortunately. I'm curious to see if it will be released on PC or not. I have a good feeling it might especially with the announcements of FFIV and FFXIII hitting steam.

That looks incredibly baller! *looks* I dont think it will release 2015 though. Well atleast we know it wont be slowed down by KH3 since nomura no longer directing.

is this real time combat or turn based? The animations look too 'good' which makes me hesitate if this will play well if its real time. It is fascinating. The more realistic movement looks in a game, the more sluggish i imagine it playing. It's kinda like how you get mad at say uncharted or ass creed when your guy doesn't do exactly what you want.

Also I hope there are AI settings to make your homies fight for real instead of goofing around in the trailer :p

I don't want to game over against a hard boss because my bros were high fiving instead of healing me or something!

There is nothing wrong with it.

The monsters are well...monsters in the wild.

Monsters don't have to exists in a medieval setting. You're not thinking out of the box.

The cars and technological advancements are part of the game ,but the wilds and small remote villages do exist or remain untouched.

Where exactly is the reality in this game? I don't see it anymore. Doesn't look much more realistic than FFXIII.

Much of the technology? The locales based on real locations?

That's also our moon in the sky.

Love the road trip aspect, one of the main reasons why I love FFX so much. Love how the road trip feels really broish, comradery is a theme that's rarely explored deeply in games. What I'm not digging? The environments seem so structured and drab. They look nice, but there should be tons of different wildlife, not just huge beasts that roam the land. No towns or cities were shown besides one of the main cities.

I have no idea how combat really works, it looks simple, but then there are the bro takedowns that look entirely scripted for trailer usage. Too many things were scripted, it felt like we are being sold a concept rather than being sold on gameplay, exploration, combat changing throughout the game.

Essentially, we still have no idea what FFXV is.
