There is nothing wrong with it.

The monsters are well...monsters in the wild.

Monsters don't have to exists in a medieval setting. You're not thinking out of the box.

Hell, it's not even like this would even be the first Final Fantasy where we've seen a car on the overworld.

Thought the close-up of Noctis' face was CG there for a moment.

My biggest problem is that it seems like there is no thematic consistency in the art design.

Huge Dinosaur monsters, naturalistic landscapes, and then a Mercedes Benz driving around with future looking knight dudes to fight.

Just doesn't seem to tie together at all and is lacking a unifying cohesive vision.

That is one of my problems. It just feels like it doesnt all tie together.

Beautiful game, but I can tell this won't be my cup of tea.

What a shame. I'll never see another Final Fantasy game like IX again.

The combat animations are really bad though. I hope there is some variation to it. Noctis & Co. are always doing the same attacks with the same weapons in every single trailer they showed. :X

I think it's more to do with them not showing variety of attacks/spells and enemies more than anything, just a bad cut they decided to show for whatever reason, I guess it's more like they want to focus on the exploration and the scale than combat, while the last trailer shows a bit more on action/scripted sequence and the teleporting.

We'll probably need to see actual gameplay demonstrations or longer non story related videos to see how it all comes together. This video shows just AIs stumbling around and doing nothing but a few slow slashes lol.

You know what I miss most about Final Fantasy? The FANTASY. It's a sci-fi series now.

And I get it's been that way since like 7 (6 more steampunk), I just miss when it was swords and sorcery instead of guns and cars. 9 brought it back though

And guys in plate mail with assault rifles, really?

Guess I'll just going to go play FF4 and relive the glory days.

I don't know, I've been pretty burned on FF since 12 and that was due to game play. 13, well we know whats wrong with that.

I hope I'm wrong and 15 is awesome but Square seems incapable of making good choices anymore.

Consider me interested again that trailer was great. The trailer actually had some nice character to it. The characters have certainly undergone a little bit of changes but I like it, it looks a little more cartoony in a way.

I think only a couple shots were CGI. That shot of Luna was definitely realtime though.

Wait, did they change Stella's name to Luna? I thought they might be referring to the other girl in the E3 trailer. Although it would make sense they were talking about "Stella" since it showed her.

FFXV temporarily replaces Bloodborne as current hype leader!

GTA-style and attitude set piece cutscenes for traveling? Interesting. Of note-- The license plate is from "insomnia" ... that's either oldschool "Loveless" name placement or something more interesting. Also, Gran Turismo staff pulled to work on FFXV confirmed.

I think it's a good representation of the world. I think it's supposed to be a "classic FF world" during a "modern age". It's like, what if you took FFV's world and fast-forward hundreds of years where Tycoon, Karnak, Walse and such became actual modern cities, yet the outskirts in the world is still roaming with fantastical creatures(LandCrawlers, Adamantoises, Garulas an such). This is probably one of the BEST representations of THAT type of world. And hell, if we are lead to believe what they said is true, only a portion of the world is modernized. Other parts are stuck in a technically advanced "medieval" state(I guess like many old school FFs).

Personally, from the look of the world, the vistas, the forests and plains, and the dark yet massive caverns, it LOOKS like how I'd imagine a FF world to look like(in size).

They really took the corridor RPG criticism to heart, lol.

I'm glad for that! Hope this marks a standard for future FFs. No looking back towards the corridor paths of the past. The future is MASSIVE!

Graphics look kinda mediocre, but I'm hype as fuck :)

Love the designs and art direction.

Someone didn't see the gameplay video from last gen. They were great, but this is another level of awesome. Still quite a long time to polish.

I dig everything except the AI. The soldier guys appeared slow and apathetic to getting their asses whooped. Story, music, all that stuff was tight.

Alright, time for me to temper these expectations from that sweet trailer.

But I want to see more. That's a good sign, right?

Monsters don't have to exists in a medieval setting. You're not thinking out of the box.

It's not about thinking outside the box, it's about presenting a universe that feels cohesive and makes logical sense.

In past Final Fantasy games, vehicles and environments were just as over the top and fantastical as the monsters that resided in the area. There was a logical consistency to everything. Of course I could accept a flying magical airship because everything else in the universe was grounded in that same sort of logic.

The mishmash of real world technology and environments combined with the absolutely ludicrous monster design doesn't "work" for me. It's a very jarring juxtaposition that seems incredibly random.

If the monsters were treated with the same sort of grounded sense of reality as the world itself (something that would feel completely fresh and new to the Final Fantasy series, I could see myself buying into the universe more.

You are free to like what you saw, I'm just explaining why I personally don't like it.

XV really has it's own identity now (road-tripping backstreet boys but that's ok because it's amazing).

Last trailer there were comparisons floating around to VII, or VIII, or whichever FF you desperately wanted to see in it, but this trailer gives it a vibe that stands on it's own and that makes me really excited to see more of it.

Yeah, I think the fights in this trailer are more of the "random encounter" variety.

uhhh..what does this even mean? just because they're blending fantasy and reality doesn't mean it doesn't flow. it's just that you're not accustomed to it since so few have done it and you rarely see it.

their vision is a modern society in a fantasy world. i guess we have been trained and brainwashed to connect fantasy with medieval.

i like this setup and i want to know how they'll handle it.

I've been messing around with the predicative text from iOS8 today and I've made complete sentences that are more cohesive than the dialogue in this trailer. They can shine up the graphics all they want, but I won't be fooled again: same old nonsense.

don't they supposedly come from a kingdom that's literally more advanced than the outside world because of the crystals? or something to that extent
