Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer | Lord Nomura giveth us His only Son so we may live

The problem with this is that it's too ambiguous.
- The trailer dialogue speaks about Luna and then it cuts to Stella, but it may be cut intentionally as a red herring, with the dialogue referring to a different woman, but edited to appear this way
- 'Luna' may be be a name Stella is using to hide her identity, didn't early story details pit Stella against Noctis? (in the iconic face-off CG) so perhaps she's forced to assume a different identity to meet him outside of the battlefield
- In keeping with Shakespearean style (as the game is clearly inspired), there may be a case of switched identity, so perhaps Stella/Luna are one in the same/ different people acting as the same person (sisters)
- Stella may be renamed Luna

Could be any one of these, we just don't know, but I think it being a new character is fairly unlikely.

#1 - I thought about that too, but then on the other hand, we haven't had a decent shot of new Stella, and then they focused several frames on a close up of her, I assumed that was done for no reason other than to show off the new design.

#2 - Would be interesting, new Dagger? Stella is said to be extremely wealthy, maybe she wants to escape that life style for xyz reasons? Maybe she goes about other business under the name Luna in a new area from her homeland?

I'm not convinced on the name change yet, I still think Luna is a different character not shown in the trailer, the dark haired one, this might sound stupid but I can't see a character named Luna having blonde hair, Luna though meaning moon, evokes the night and darkness, and we all know FF takes hair and details like that seriously.

Is there not someone we can tweet about this?!

Edit: We have had no ingame footage of the girl with dark hair shown at the end of the E3 trailer with the full cast right? Little to no information I could find.

Luna/stella's pendant has a moon as well as a star.So that's not really an indication.

That's what I'd like to know.

They haven't revealed many characters. We only know 4 party members so far and the reasoning for them being men is because they are Noctis's entourage and they're job is to protect him (the exception being Prompto) but they've also become close friends with him.

I'm sure we're gonna get more party members and I'm sure some of them will be females. We still know very little of this game. Footage of the early sections of it aren't gonna enlighten much.

damn just got home and watched the trailer on my laptop, To me this is the best looking game ever, right behind it is drive club, some really amazing shit, we are finally seeing that 10x jump in power.

Wut...have you played any of the Kingdom Hearts games? Yeah...like that.

No, never played a KH game. I've been playing the FF series since the first one in 1988, so all my experiences and expectations have been shaped by those. I'm trying hard to be open minded (hell, I gave FF13 a pass), but I'm struggling to see anything but a scripted action game here.

I'm going to assume Luna/Stella will be a party member, but I wish they would have shown some of them off in this trailer, I mean surely by now they would have enough of the game done to showcase them.

Still not excited about this the trend with this generation of games is hype everyone up with nice graphics to disguise a very bland game looking at you kill zone. So will wait for reviews but omgosh! Then graphics made me change my pants.

So scripted it hurts to know that we'll never be playing that.

TBH all the battle gameplay in every trailer looks totally scripted.

"-Yo guys, how do we make this scripted sequence look like actual gameplay?
-Just throw in some health bars and HUD!"

If they had added some "hit numbers" over the leg of the mammoth I'd have laughed so hard....

I got a feeling this game is going to annoy me more than Max Payne 3 with all these long ass animations and scripted moments.

Oh...okay.

KH gameplay is really solid and fun. If you still have your ps3, I would totally recommend buying the Kingdom Hearts II.5 collection releasing this December and play Birth By Sleeps.

It is not about graphics here. Heck the gameplay doesn't seem all that fleshed out to me. It is all about exploring that world of XV. Meeting its characters, exploring its locales. This is what this is all about. For years, we heard about the stories of this world and now we can finally explore it.

I am also glad to see that Nomura delivered on his promises. Because this is exactly what he promised years ago.

I do not want to go cross-country with that blond.

Have they mentioned whether or not you can switch party members?

Where is the female cast? Looks amazing graphically though.

That's what I'd like to know.
Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought they said there weren't any playable female characters the last time they were asked, at least in singleplayer.

In the old trailers you could, but I'm unsure if that's still true.

Blond guy had third person shooter controls at the time.

Revealing that there'll be a female playable character is practically a spoiler given the kind of approach and setting the game is in.

Since the game's design/initial story approach is that of a road trip amongst close bros/friends, the only way a woman would even come into the picture is if the 'bros' got split apart or someone dies.

It's not something they'll reveal right now, assuming there will be a female playable character.

After sleeping on it and watching the trailer again, I'm starting to warm up to it a lot. I still feel like I need to see more character variety and don't really like how repetitive the designs are; basically some color and vibrance would be nice, but the game itself looks super good. I was turned off by the dialogue, but these things always have shitty dialogue so it's pretty par for the course.

Shimomura is killing it again, the visuals and scale are pretty insane, and the combat looks phenomenal. I think once I actually get to play it in March (wat) that I'll have a much better grasp on what they're going for. I do hope they ditch that car very early into the game though.

Never remember anyone mentioning this. The only thing I remember is that Nomura said there will be more party members but not as much as we would expect.

Looks more like FF12 combat to me which is pretty awesome. Thay game was anything but "scripted action"

main cast designs are still completely awful. Animations look amazing, and the pace of battles is too my liking, something I didnt expect.

still not that hyped, but more interested than I was before this trailer.

actually the only thing hurting my hype at this point is the cast...

I have all Sony systems except the Vita and the PS4... I actually wanted to migrate to PC, because all games I'd like to play are on PC.

FUCK.

I guess that I may have to get a PS4 for this. >_>

The character designs are just awful. Like cutting room floor Nomura designs which have then been rendered with a realistic art style. Embarrassing.

I hope there are some customisation options.

I remember in an old trailer of Versus XIII, the team was stopping the car at a place were the road was cut by the sea.
So maybe no more car after this point, if this is still in the game.

Where we're going we don't need roads.

It's not that unbelievable this road segment ISN'T the whole game, is it?

I think we will see Female cast members... no way we won't have any female in the party.

Remember FFXIII? we didn't know about Fang till almost 2 months before the release date... so don't worry there's still time.
