I don't like the news that they changed Noctis' personality.. It screams that they are pandering to the FF hate bandwagon of "Cloud is emo", if they are messing with the creative vision because of bullshit like this.. This coupled alongside Nomura being "forced out"(speculation obviously) of the project, seems like his concepts are being compromised...

Noctis has gone through so many changes since his original trailer debut.

LR's ending.

Hmm.. no that's not the world of versus for sure
because the mythos, crystals and all that shit disappears in the new planet(at least they said it in the CG ending cutscene of LR), something that is still present in the world of FF XV

This is just my speculation but the reason why I think they changed the battle system so much is that they couldn't keep the high quality action combat in an open world environment.

- The plot is simple, the party must retrieve a stolen crystal from an enemy country.

Interesting that this is a selling point. I know XIII was criticized for its convoluted plot, but I think the bigger issue was weak dialogue and one-dimensional characters. I'm keeping my expectations for XV's story low until Square hires better in-house writers.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Here's a translation of everything he said

- Final Fantasy XV's director has been changed, now the game is in Tabata's hands. Nomura will work only on KHIII
- The trailer's not extended, but the scenes showed confirm it's about the upcoming demo
- Tabata (I suppose): "There are great expectations for this game, and we're not forgetting this saga's roots while creating new elements (see the final part of the trailer)"
- The combat system starts as "action" a-la-KH, lots of things changed since then but the action nature is still there. Not a classic JRPG, for sure
- Episode Ducsae is confirmed for March 2015, included in Type 0 HD
- Ducsae is a region in FFXV's world
- The demo will be about a period not too far from beginning of the game, but no spoilers, don't worry, Tabata reassures. It's all to let the player comprehend the new combat system
- The demo's length is far bigger than normal, with 3-4 hours and possibily of playing exploartion and dungeon phases
- No classic Final Boss in the demo, but the final impression will be incredible for FF fans
- There will be many exploration phases, the player can freely drive the car or let the CPU drive it through Auto Drive, so he can see see secret zones
- Tabata: "The combat system's modifications have been applied correctly, and the development team feels the game much more like a "Final Fantasy" since it became a main title
- ...but this doesn't mean the end of the action nature! The combat system's basis will stay that, but it won't be confusionary. We want the player to control fully what happens
- There will be many new elements, and most I can't talk about. But I can tell you Noctis can dodge enemies by keeping pressing the "Block" button; there will be also Auto-Attack and the Warp button
- Every character/ally will fight with his/her own style; by knowing how Noctis can perform different combos with them the player will be encouraged to search for them on the combat field in order to make a turning point in the battle. In specific moments, only a specific ally can be used against specific enemies, and the command will be visible only near the enemies. This is what makes our work on FFXV magic. We're very satisfied"
- Tabata praises next gen's power, by underlining the beauty of the real-time day/night cycle
- Tabata: "Open world? Yes, FFXV will have a massive world to explore, all thanks to next gen consoles
- The demo is 70-80% complete. March's version will be better.
- We've worked hard on how each character is characterised. Everyone's going to have his own character (laughs...). You'll love them all.
- Prompto is the typical exuberant boy full of vitality, while Noctis the one who "knows", he's not the once-reserved-lonely boy anymore
- Aesthetically, Ignis has been changed too
- SE would like to expand the FFXV's universe on PSVita and mobile phones, i.e. it would be great to connect outside of the TV screen
- The story retrace the Fabula Nova Crystallis' myth from FFXIII and Type 0, in a different world. The plot is simple: the boys have to get back a crystal stolen by an enemy country
- During the interview, some names were mentioned, like King Aegis, Emperor Aldercapt, Luna, the city of Altissia...any news on the matter? Tabata: "No comment".
- Not even Luna? Tabata's answer: "The others are no comment, while Luna is...tabula rasa" (laughs...), then "I'd love telling you more, but right now I can't, still she'll be a key character liek Notcis!"
- New details on plot and characters in future events, Jump Festa 2015 especially.

How the hell was FF XIII's plot convoluted, I get that some people might have gotten distraught by the terminology but the actual plot is one of the most straightforward and simple in the entire series. It can be summed up in 2 or 3 sentences.

I hope FF XV delivers a story with a ton of depth, it can still have it while being "simple" but I am not particularly intrigued by using the word "simple" to describe it.

So far so good.

- Block button, auto-attack and warp button.

Not sure how I feel about auto-attack, hated the almost real time but isn't quite turn based nature of Lightning Returns, hope this doesn't imply that.

The combat system's modifications have been applied correctly, and the development team feels the game much more like a "Final Fantasy" since it became a main title

This just gets worse the more I read

Is the demo coming to both platforms?

Yeah I think so as it comes with Type-0 HD which comes out on both PS4 and Xbone. Though you're not getting the demo on disc but thorugh a download voucher that comes with Type-0.

I am pretty sure the "Auto-Attack" is similar to FF12 or FF13. you have option to turn it off and generally it pretty bad if you keep turn it on

- No comment on Luna, key character as important as Noctis.

Guessing "Stella" is still alive

This new translation puts me more at ease. At first it read like they changed the character's personality for whatever reason and now it reads like the character itself will suffer this development in universe and it was always planned to be that way.

But the auto stuff is real. Not a fan of that.

Holding down a button vs mashing repeatedly like in KH ?

Yes, because that's the game they've advertised for 8 years.

I personally have been looking forward to a Final Fantasy where I can control a player's attacks rather than sit there and watch him/her attack.

what does it matter ?

Holding down a button vs mashing repeatedly like in KH ?

Depending on how battle system will play like it may not be bad but holding down a buttun is not as satysfiying as seeing your character attacking while you're pressing the button like in every action game. But auto-dogde sound bad like really bad because good dogining system is based on timing. It feels like it's double downed for masses just like auto-batle in XIII was.

It's the sense of control, holding it down feels like character doing everything for you.

Yeah I agree. Sense of control is a huge part of action games.

You can still have a sense of control.

If the game forces you to constantly switch up your commands you essentially end up with a very responsive system.

You won't be able to attack endlessly in the game and movement will likely play a large element.

Carried from the other thread, my thoughts:

So damn, from the looks of it, much of Final Fantasy Versus 13 was changed just because it's now a main FF title. A part of me is hyped because the trailer looks awesome, but a part of me is disappointed that it won't be the game that was shown to us back then aka "fantasy based on reality."

Noctis not being the "lonely wolf that he used to be" and the Tabula Rasa comment of Tabata about Luna (if I understood it right) seems to imply that even the original plot has been changed. I just hope the plot wasn't simplified to "stealing back the crystal" just so that they could rush this game (although I always thought the plot was about that, but it also included some political intrigue between kingdoms).

Also, the thought of possibly not getting to know Stella from the FFVS13 cutscene trailer is just really unfortunate. I am now quite cautious about the game (but the open world + gameplay is hyping me up!)

Yeah, the story of XIII was quite good and had great potential in my opinion but the game had a pretty bad narrative.

About XV, having realms fighting over crystals-control is a good starting point for me.

Luckily, it sounds like we're going to get a nice, lengthy demo to really cut our teeth on how the game works.
I'm can't bring myself to be concerned over what's been said/rumored.
I like just about all of it.

Imagine playing games like Devil May Cry, KH3 or even Tales where attacking is just holding a button. It's not fun.

Doubt its auto dodging. That would break the game.

I understand.As a souls player,I love a good sense of control myself.

but they just stated that they want to give the player full control. So I'd wait for more exact info.
