Pics from Xbox One Launch in Russia, 15k+ Pre Orders

Yeah those numbers seem pretty low, but not much of a surprise to be honest.

The pics are hilarious though.

Take note, Xbox fans, just post pictures of good-looking women next time not exactly flattering news hit NeoGAF. Since most of us see women as objects, too, we'll only assess the entire package and will deem it acceptable.
Yeah it's pretty sad. One good looking woman and so many guys here turn into ogling teenagers. No offense to anyone, but seriously people.

I have no idea what 15,000 consoles for launch sold means in the scope of things but progress?

Did find this though

So let's dig into some figures. All of them are unofficially provided by my friends and former colleagues in publishing companies, retailers and platform holders. There are about 1.7 million Xbox 360s and about 1 million PS3s sold in Russia. My sources told me that the current install base is estimated as 1.2 million 360s and 700 thousand PS3s (some consoles were broken, some exchanged). There were more Xboxes sold because it was always easier to mod them and still play online. Jailbroken PS3s mostly can't get online. And now check this out: the best-selling games like FIFA and Call of Duty sell 3000-10000 copies per platform. Only 500-1000 copies of games like Enslaved or Shadows of the Damned are sold in Russia. The most popular officially-sold games are the family games (dancing, racing sims, kids and other Kinect stuff) beside such huge hits in Russia as Call of Duty and FIFA.

But of course that's because both systems were hacked so not sure how new consoles yet to be hacked will fair

I swear so many of you act like you've never seen a female in the flesh before with these borderline creepy posts.

Eh, it may be the fact she wouldn't look all that to folks with different tastes in females, she does nothing for me, but put a female that looks like she dances for (Uncle) Luke Skywalker from 2 live crew and I'd probably be pulling a googly eyed wolf too.

Just for starters, we know the PS4 sold over 1 million units in its launch day in the US, We know the Xbox One sold over 900k in its launch month.

Relative to these figures, these starting numbers are very small. They aren't even comparable to the recent launch of Xbox One in Japan (it sold ~24k units in its launch week there), which was listed as historically weak.

It's possible you're confused at what my point is: I'm talking about whether places like Russia and Japan can compensate for the contraction in console sales we're seeing in Japan, the US, and elsewhere. This is hardly the final word, but 15k is a very bad sign if we wanted these emerging markets to truly compensate for that contraction.

We're looking at confirmed pre-orders for Russia. I was asking how the pre-order numbers we see here compared to other systems released in that region. With respect, I don't think I was the one confused when I asked simply:

Are you basing that on volume comparison to other console launches? I'm not especially familiar with the market, but that seems like the most reasonable way to answer the question of how successful this is for pre-orders.

And you aswered "Yes." I wanted to know if we have pre-order data for earlier platforms, and it sounded like you did, and you were responding to someone who asked specifically how the pre-order numbers compared.

I find this all funny considering how good friends the U.S is with them right now.
Console warring knows no borders.
Congrats on the solid launch I guess, Microsoft. Better than Japan I'm guessing.
Shockingly no! 24k, but down to 1300 in the third week.
Every time a photoshop of something like this gets posted I feel slightly older. Both because of the age of the joke but also because I know future generations will never know such humor.

15k on pre-orders alone is decent, it'll probably rival the Japan launch week. You can't and shouldn't compare them with US numbers, a developed country with +30 years game culture. These sales mean the Russian market for the Xbox is currently as big as a small Euro nation. Afaik this is the first gen we're seeing official console launches in emerging markets, previously there were limited soft launches or platform holders licensed local companies to distribute their system in small quantities. I know Nintendo did this in Turkey and then pulled out. A single emerging market isn't contributing much to the overall picture, but a TON of small make a lot. As these countries' GDP per capita increases, so will the market for consoles.

NoFunAllowed.jpg?

Pretty sad? Come on man, if it was a hot guy I would find that funny girls/boys going crazy on him.

The girl is beautiful, why would we be indifferent? We are humans after all, we're attracted to what is nice.

The problem is that this isn't what I was discussing. It's tangential to it.

And you aswered "Yes." I wanted to know if we have pre-order data for earlier platforms, and it sounded like you did, and you were responding to someone who asked specifically how the pre-order numbers compared.

I assumed that you were asking if I Had data related to the specific platforms we're talking about, since that would be relevant (i.e. confirm or refute) my position. Clearly that assumption was wrong, but that doesn't mean it was a silly assumption. We did not understand each other; it happens.

Or not. The GDP per capita of Japan is going up, but the market for consoles is going down. The GDP per capita of the US is going up, but the market for consoles is going down. It's not a safe assumption, other than to say at least some minimal interest is greater than no interest at all.

I definitely agree that this is not sufficient data to reach firm conclusions; we'll just wait and see. I'm just saying it isn't a particularly auspicious start.
