Me too. No idea why everyone is gagging over these screens.
Yeah, I think Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMix is my last PS3 game. All cross gen games are going to be bought on PS4 when I get it soon.
judging from that egx overview- there is no possible way you can see alot of this game in stills-or even in previews of the game- going to be monstrous-
highlighted area is approximate size of the ship in the movie ALIEN- what you see surrounding it is the size of the station the game team made
edit:and it was said that is just "some" of the game map-
you can make jokes about vaseline, but I think this looks pretty impressive for nearly decade old hardware specs. ever LOOK at PS360 specs? there's almost nothing there to work with by today's standards.
Oh, I wasn't speaking of the length or size of the game. Just the screens appeared to be the very beginning (at least in the context shown). I am just very picky of spoilers .
and people were actually saying next gen consoles werent a big jump
Looks fine to me. How on earth do people cope with indie games if they think this looks bad and outdated.
Indie games don't usually shoot for photorealism.
Remember in 05/06 when we entered the "HD" era and we were so amazed by how clear and pristine games looked. Why did that go away? Is it because graphical assets and features improved, making a higher resolution almost a necessity? Meaning, the less geometry rendered, the more you can get away with by using a low resolution? For example, if I play an HD remastered ps2 game on ps3, the image quality and clarity is much better than a game built for ps3 running at the same resolution.
How come its so bright? Anyway we could see the same screen for the PS4 version?
The less geometry a game has, the better performance you can get, freeing up room for extra antialiasing and whatnot.Remember in 05/06 when we entered the "HD" era and we were so amazed by how clear and pristine games looked. Wow, really? They look nearly the same?PC youtube shots with all that it entails.
Sub-native 720p
Vaseline like blur
Aliasing
Yep, it is PS3 version.

But no, I don't think this is the main reason. Its simply that our standards are ever-changing. I bet most console gamers were quite impressed with last-gen games all the way through to 2013. But now that we've been looking at next-gen visuals for the past year or so, our standards have been elevated and what we were impressed by before is no longer impressive.
There will come a day when we look at a game like The Witcher 3 or DriveClub and say it no longer looks all that good.

I've been trying to avoid newer Alien Isolation footage/screens or whatever. Has the game gotten a huge downgrade?
That's where I got the PS4 shots from above. But the screens posted from that guy's stream of the PC version look only a tiny bit better than the PS3 version. :/ None of the fancy lighting or depth of field or anything.Gamersyde has some PC screenshots :

In terms of assets there is definitely a difference, so cross-gen should not hinder the game that much.

PS3 version is Russian. How bizarre, how bizarre.
Looks VHS quality! Secret best version confirmed for that retro-fitted Alien experience.
Just because a game isnt 720p doesnt mean its not pushing the hardware to its max. There's far more to graphics than resolution.Since the hardware is so old, what's the point of targeting sub native 720p?
Would last gen owners really throw a fit if the game doesn't push last gen hardware to the max, even though it's still going to be inferior to the next gen versions?
