Metal Warriors is decent enough in single player mode. It's the splitscreen multiplayer where it really shines and becomes a ton of fun. You can eject out of your mech and run around on foot Blaster Master style.

-The Adventures of Batman & Robin

I never hear much about this one but I remember really enjoying it. It even had a mild amount of customization before levels.

I thought the game was very unfocused. It's commendable that they tried to incorporate many aspects of Batman beyond just action platforming, like saving hostages, driving, and detective skills. But ultimately this led to the game being a jack of all trades, master of none. I remember the mode7 driving parts being especially bad (bad mode7 gimmicks being thrown in seems to be a signature Konami move). In many ways this game reminds me of all the throwaway licensed platformers they started churning out on the GBA which were just this string of token stages and gimmicks/mechanics related to the source material.

Loving all these "underrated" threads.

Makes me wanna go and dig up my consoles and buy super expensive rare games.

king arthur's world. It was a side scrolling strategy game, a bit like a cross between Lemmings and an tower defence game.

SOS. A cruse ship has completely capsized at sea and is starting to sink. Try to escape with as many passengers as possible while the ship rotates and fills with water.

I remember this being a fun game back in the day.
I tried so very hard to like this game, but it just couldn't hold up to Mario Kart in my eyes.

I remember this game getting some review buzz upon release. Definitely fits the bill for underrated with fans, never heard much about it over the years but good fun.

Games that came to mine for me but maybe don't qualify as underrated:

Dropped a lot of hours into this game. Great fantasy/miniature golf type game, with power-ups and all.

Awful frame rate, but great fun. Great replay value, loved it's janky physics.

I guess the original Ken Griffey is well liked, although folks seem to like the sequel more (I did not). I consider this game underrated because it may be my favorite baseball video game. Well done Nintendo!

I also preferred KGJ Presents MLB over Winning Run. I think the first one had a better season mode, or something. Can't really remember what the difference was, anymore.

It's definitely the most I've ever played a baseball game.

It's essentially a better, tighter version of Kirby's Dream Course (and that game's predecessor). If you're a fan of weird golf games like I am, give it a try. It's great.

I remember playing Legend at Summer CES one year, really enjoyed it.

Legend is great stuff. I picked up a copy for a few bucks back when GameStop still carried SNES cartridges, along with some other beat-em-ups. I'm surprised how pricey it's become.

I really enjoyed the following as a kid:

The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse

This game was so awesome. Great graphics, great music, solid platforming. The "outfit" scheme was fun and at the time, since I hadn't played that many other games, I found it unique and refreshing.

This game was really good. Picked this up randomly as a kid because I knew that all the Capcom Disney games on NES were good and I wasn't disappointed.

Happy to see so many people showing love for EVO. A great title that I rented a few times but was never able to purchase. I'm assuming it's probably pretty rare now?

Koei made tons of sim games during the SNES era, but a particularly good and accessible one is Aerobiz Supersonic. The subject matter of managing an airline sounds horrible, but trust me it's a really fun game. Weirdly you can play this 4 player, so there's an odd way to spend a drunken evening with friends.

The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
Goof Troop (not great, but it was fun for a kid)
Captain America and the Avengers

Captain America and the Avengers was ass on the Snes. The Genesis and Arcade ports are much better. Phantom 2040, Spawn, and Run Sabre (already mentioned) were games I had as a kid I finally beat Run Sabre a few years ago but I am still working on Spawn and Phantom really fun games.

That's the best part of these games-- almost all of these are reasonably priced. E.V.O. is the only one I'm seeing that's crossed into insane price territory.

That's not really an underrated game though. Mickeys magical quest was well received.

love this thread <3

Oh man! Don't say that, I thought it was even better than the Genesis X-Men games. :(
I had Mutant Apocalypse back in the day, and despite being a huge X-Men fan, I never really liked it. I remember being able to climb walls using Wolverine's claws was really cool, and it had Psylocke, who was one of my faves back then.

Hahaha, awesome.

An Under rated SNES game that I found and enjoyed is Live-A-Live, an Japanese only title made by Squaresoft(before it became SquareEnix) which came out in 1994, the same year for FF3/6 came out, which is mixture of a RPG/Strat. game with its battle system(one of the most unique RPG battle systems for the SNES, in which you move in a grid and have to choose where to be at on the grid to have your attacks to come out, and also how to avoid getting hit by your enemies.

The story has eight different story arcs to it, with stories like: A caveman saving his woman, kung fu master trying to find a worthy pupil, ninja trying to assassinate a emporor, two cowboys trying to save a town from bandits, an cyberpunk mecha story, an wrestling trying to become the best in the world, 2001 a space odyssey type story, and a story tying all it all together.

It never came out in english, but there is a fan translation patch that translated all the game into english, but I do believe there are minor translation errors for what I know. So, if you want to play it, you would need to find a copy of the game, dump the rom, and apply the patch to play it.

Also there is are a couple downside to the game, the graphic suck on it(It was the same year that FF3/6 came out) and it shows that they didn't put enough time with the graphics at all, and some of the stories are not that good for the arcs, and the battle system is very weird to get uses to at first. Also, you WILL need a guide for it because the translation messed up some parts of the game, so you won't be able to figure how to advance without one, just letting you know.

But, it has some amazing stuff to it, the battle system is the most amazing thing I have seen in a SNES RPG game, and some of the story arcs are amazing, and the ninja assassin story arc is amazing, with you can fight every single enemy in the story or try an Metal Gear Solid approach to it and avoid killing as much enemies as possible to it, and make the game more of a challenge because you will low level trying to beat the final boss in the story so, you can make a challenge mode for that story.

Also, it has some amazing boss music that I love: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1Nmc84Noos

Live-A-Live is an amazing under rated title!

It sounds like Seiken Dentesu 3(Secret of Mana 2 JP version).

Anyway for there to play a English translated copy?
