Could you try using hammer offline and then online with the n3ds?I can't speak with certainty but I had a colleague over with it on his old LL and it seemed to load a bit faster on my N3DS. Another thing I've noticed is that there is a much higher quality of colour on the new 3DS. I think the old models had a bit of yellowing if I recall correctly, that seems to be gone now.
I wouldn't say it is a game changing difference in terms of load time but we'll have to wait for more tests I suppose. Could also have a lot to do with the memory cards.
Quick question.
Is Monster Hunter 4G/ Ultimate free roam like MH3U?
Can you go to other areas when not doing a mission?
[Spoiler about monster/weapon]
Can anyone help me identify a weapon from the following video:

At about the 1-minute mark they show the equipment, but I'm not sure if it says the weapon name.It looks like a new insect glaive, as I can't recall having seen that one before. Anyone knows from which monster it's made?
Haze caster ヘイズキャスター glaive made from Oonazuchi オオナズチ parts.
Where does the forum stand on completely unverifiable, my-friend-who-works-at-blah rumours?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6iYOHaGGKkThis probably isn't the right place for this, but can someone link me to a good Monster Hunter primer / gameplay introduction?
I'm really looking forward to diving into the series when 4U comes stateside.
Very cool. Thanks.
Man, G is already out? Been so busy the last year I've barely had the chance to play through vanilla MH4...
Man am I psyched for this! Online is gonna be fantastic.
Can't decide whether I wanna play this on a New 3DS or New 3DS XL though
XL there really isnt a reason to play on the tiny screen of the standard models anymore with the XLs around

I played MH4 on a 3DS LL and I play MH4G on a regular N3DS now. As mentioned earlier, the LL screen really makes the game shine at some moments. But I'm really enjoying it on my regular N3DS to the fullest too to be honest.Man am I psyched for this! Online is gonna be fantastic.

Yeah, I always loved the volcano areas and that shit is such a letdown. I hate when devs justify their cheap decisions through lore like in this case. Well, in MH5 hopefully...man i was hoping they would make a new volcano stage but apparently for the time being does not seem to have one and its still the same shitty doubled up stage from 4... (ノ-_-)ノ~┻━┻
never liked that map.
the new desert stage i dig though.

I think I just had a visual orgasm. I was NOT expecting it to feel that different, wow.
In MH4, go weapon practice against Great Jaggi and sometimes the framerate goes to 60fps and is super smooth. It's like that the entire hunt
Holy shit. New 3DS MH4G totally different. Silky smooth 60FPS online you can see the difference immediately
Yeah, the game feels MUCH smoother.Anyone confirm this?
Yeah, the game feels MUCH smoother.
Not sure if it's 60 fps, but it's a huge improvement on the new 3ds.

Please don't make your first Monster Hunter experience be on a handheld. Ugh.

Yeah, this game is something else with a proper gamepad and a TV. Don't get me wrong though, my 3DS is more than ready.

New 3DS helps
I mean not by a crazy amount but Ill take it
This area runs at 15fps, lol.

Highly recommend
- 3Ultimate on WiiU
- Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd on PPSSPP or a hacked PSP/Vita
Pretty sure MH4U on the New 3DS will be comparably amazing though.
I have a Wii U but I was primarily expecting to play this on the 3DS.Yeah, this game is something else with a proper gamepad and a TV. Don't get me wrong though, my 3DS is more than ready.

Can you guys speak more to this? My understanding was that the series mainly rose to prominence on the PSP and then 3DS. Is it just a question of the screen size not being able to contain all of the visual information?

Not on 3DS it doesn't.Does it? Or doesn't it?

You can let 4G be your first MonHun experience, because it's the noob friendliest yet. Then when you like it you can go HD hunting with 3U on the Wii U if you want.
Once you've played 4, there is no going back.
I'm not an expert veteran, just a dude who spent almost 500 hours on MH3U (both 3DS and Wii U) but never played the older games.
I just find the home console experience... better. This game is not about quick sessions, I find home consoles' gamepads to be more comfortable than handhelds for long games, HD is not bad to look at, playing online with voice chat or a comfy keyboard is nice, etc etc... I guess japanese hunters love their handhelds because they play together IRL, I sadly can't do that.
This series is golden dude, nobody should miss on it just because it's on 3DS, but I'd say you should try out MH3U on the Wii U, if you find a good deal.

Thanks for the answers guys.My biggest beef with the 3DS version was the controls (while functionally slightly better than PSP) since they are a step down from Tri on Wii and Unite/P3rd on Vita
Its hard to go back to slider/touchpad after you play comfortably with a standard control set.
Its gets worse when you factor in the Underwater segments on 3 Ultimate. Stack on the lack of online play, voice chat, cross region, off tv play, and HD visuals... Its easy to prefer the WiiU version
Most of this is addressed in 4U with the New 3DS.
Still my favorite setup thus far has been playing Portable 3rd on PPSSPP with a Dualshock 4. Its godlike.
Here's hoping they still dabble their toes into the console space from time to time. Even if its WiiU only
Wait is this the newvariation? He looks the exact samebrachy
