It looked pretty fleshed out to me. Of course they could have just chosen to show parts of the world they'd completed but it was quite extensive and those character animations didn't look like 'work in progress'. I'm think Christmas 2015.

Yeah, the vertical slice. I dunno, seems farther off than that to me. Won't argue though, as I hope you're right. If nothing is announced in December, I would say it's safe to temper expectations.

Isn't the fact that the XB1 versions of most of the top 10 games are the worst selling console versions big news? I thought Madden was typically an Xbox game, but XB1 is even outsold by PS3, let alone PS4 and 360. Same thing with Disney Infinity 2, Diablo and FIFA.

I think Madden's not so much an Xbox game as it's a game that happened to sell better on 360 than PS3 due to market share. This is Madden's second month. In the first month, the XB1 version was ahead of the 360 and PS3 versions. It's probable that the XB1 is still ahead overall. Same with Diablo III. Disney Infinity doesn't surprise me too much, because of demographics. As for FIFA, you got me. I don't know.

Kind of expected considering its now 1 millionish behind in the US. The vast majority of multi plats are going to perform better on the PS4 in terms of sales.

That being said in comparison to last gen is it shocking / a big deal? Yes, a massive one.

That's not a good sign for Destiny that it sold the most on XBO (outside bundles), because the fact that MCC is coming to XBO makes it most likely that XBO owners will ditch Destiny first.

Highly unlikely. PS4 will be in China too, but the real problem is that China likes free torrented games and hacked systems.

They also like stuff like MMORPG's, Free to Play games, & MOBA's.

Same.

This gen won't end early anyways given skyrocketing development costs.

Wonder how many studios will go under this gen.

Then most 3rd party publishers need to start cutting back on AAA games & go back to making mid-tier games.

You're helping make my point. They've ditched their waggle fad in favor of their swiping fad.

Bathroom games come to mind.

There is a lot of "but other Septembers" in the previous pages but i think 300k bundles is fricking awesome. Thank you cream and thank you aqua for putting up with us and still delivering the goods.

With that I'm out. Goodnight, Gaf!

Thanks for the info sugar! Woah at the Destiny White bundle alone selling more than the XBO; didn't belive it would sell that well :0!

People love a white system. It's why the 360 sold so well, and now the SSO Bundle is about to hit ~300k. Confirmed!

jk, but would be amazing if this happened.

Well, you start at page 1...

...and you read...

...and you read some more...

...and then, when you're finished reading, you make a post!
Aqua is my new favorite number.

I'll save you some time. You can start on page 50.

I lucked out and started on page 50 before I saw your post. Good stuff.

I'm still in shock coming from 8 years of 360 and even more time with MS before that, that I and thousands(millions?) of others have settled into the Sony family so easily. He'll I even have one of those rare Vita's as they call it.
What the hell happened?

I really don't think many people are going to ditch Destiny, even on Xbox One. It'll probably cross the 10 million mark soon (shipments+digital), if it hasn't already.

I thought we all knew this. Most games will be barren come November 11.

My point is the XBO owners are the most likely to ditch Destiny more than any other console's Destiny owners because XBO is getting a "Bungie greatest hits" package for $60 with phenomenal PvP and hours upon hours of campaign content. Lots of younger 360 owner Halo 3 fans who never had the pleasure of experiencing Halo 1 and 2. 4 games at 1080p(*) 60fps for $60. Destiny owners on XBO will bail in droves. Other platform Destiny owners will stick around longer.

That's the only point I was making.

Anyone who lends credence to the soccer moms and grandpas that bought Wii's last gen as "growing the market" will obviously see this generation's sales as a supreme contraction. Fact is those customers were a temporary blip in the console market. How is this generation performing compared to the PS2/GCN/OG Xbox numbers during the same timeframe? Because that's a better indicator of core console gamers. Or a comparison to ONLY PS360 sales for last gen. It is my view that the Wii market in general skewed the entire market to unrealistic expectations for the following generation, especially when it became obvious that the additional market quickly ditched their waggle fad.

Nintendo had never seen console sales like the Wii, and it is my view that Nintendo will never again see console sales anywhere close to the Wii.

we also clearly lost the handheld demographic in an enormous way. 240 million handhelds were sold last gen. there may be perhaps, perhaps a third of that sold in this generation. and the loss doesn't come from just the ds market, but the specialized and higher end psp market too. it's not a great thing when an audience comes in to a marketplace and then leaves, but when multiple demographics do that, it's a sign of concern.

the industry is not growing. that means more consolidation and less risk. perhaps the greatest risk with destiny was the yearlong marketing strategy and the enormous budget that accompanied it. instead of reaching out to new users, focus has become how to squeeze more money out of the richest users.

Pretty close to Halo 3. That's insane for a new IP.

Halo 3 had no digital sales at all. From earlier posts, it seems like big games like destiny could have potentially sold 25% or more digitally, which is not tracked. Overall, I think Destiny beats halo in monthly sales.

So, this probably has been asked a lot, but why is SSB for 3DS there? Pre Orders? Or the NPD takes into account the first days of the next month?

I understand that, I just think Destiny is going to remain very popular on Xbox One. It's been incredibly successful.

You know, I'm honestly curious what the split on Destiny would look like had Sony never done the exclusivity stuff and the huge advertising push.

I'm wondering how much of that 875K Destiny Xbox One copies were paid for by Microsoft with their promotion. Seems maybe 100Kish?

Oh people will start to ditch Destiny. Especially when other big games start coming out. The only reason people would keep playing is for multiplayer maybe, but the XBone will have MCC, and COD will start eating into that player base once that comes out as well.

Not sure how much staying power Destiny will have until the xpac comes out. Maybe a big group of people will go back for that (me not being one of them).

And I, for one, welcome our new lower budget, non-focus-group-tested-publisher-meddled-homogenized-shit-packaged-"AAA"-game overlords. Indie/small studio revolution!
