I went to the page IGN linked to and I was automatically logged in. I hope that counts towards signing up.
If all else fails I can beg Dylan for a code!
(I won't beg you for a code, Dylan.)

This feels like an unnecessarily rude post. Putting aside that they're not making LBP3, you don't think MM can come up with it themselves? How well can it be implemented without breaking the game and existing levels that have already been built?
This game looks amazing.
The only thing distracting was the players popping in from out of nowhere
Much obliged.
PlayStation devs were exchanging tech internally since the PS2 era, So does this surprise you? -_- And yes, not every company can come up with all the techs, but one other company invents sth new, they can benifit from that and vice versa.
It's supposed to be like that. People in your town will only appear when they do something in the world like mining. This game looks amazing.
The only thing distracting was the players popping in from out of nowhere (I assume it's just a technical thing since it's still early on in development right?).
I didn't know that much about this game but after the stream I can not wait for it.

The game as a whole looks awesome and I look forward to playing it but I have to agree the explosions against invading monsters looks pretty bad. In fact the whole invading aspect -as limited as shown- looked awful. Ie. demonstrating how good the monsters looked by zooming around them only served to show how unresponsive they were to nearby "threats" from player characters.
I'm surprised that no one has brought up the griefing potential in this game. The devs hint at it by mentioning raiding other town's resources or walking off with light sources other players have put down, but they never really say how you could stop that from happening. The only option they do give is the voting system which by itself could be used to grief. People could intentionally down vote other people.
Here is a list of griefing possibilities I thought of just watching the stream and all of it could be made worse by a few players working together.
This game could be great if everyone works together, but it could be a nightmare if just a small percentage of the population derives more fun in ruining the game for others.
- Dig holes in front of bridges so they are inaccessible
- Waiting around and stealing minerals others would pick up
- Waste town resources by building unnecessary things
- Running off with light sources
- Jumping in turrets but not firing or intentionally missing monsters
- Intentionally down voting players
You can move to a different town.
Also there will be ways to report players and if they get reported enough they will get deported by the ministry to a different town where there are other players like themselves!
However before that happens, you will naturally have been down-voted by a no. of people (and people who are already down-voted will have their ability to down-vote affected so they can't spread grief).
If your silhouette has turned black you will be caught by the police and thrown in jail.
So don't worry, griefing in this game has a lot of fun solutions and we've thought through a lot of this! We obviously don't want to remove all forms of griefing but there are definitely some interesting demerits to that style of play.

Just 2015 right now.when is the game expected to be releasing? roughly?
Don't worry, MM are up to amazing stuff without the need for us to "help" them
Good to here. I'll just post a few more of my concerns then. Since players aren't always visible, how will other players know who is working against them. For instance couldn't someone use up community resources by building unnecessary junk, and no one would know? If someone picked up a light source you put down and ran off, wouldn't they disappear from your view without any way for you to follow and find out who they were?
You say players who are downvoted will have their ability to downvote limited, but what if the downvoting itself is the grief? What is to prevent a player from just going around downvoting other players? Would those players even know who downvoted them? On the other hand if players are notified about who downvoted them would retaliation downvotes become the norm? Players would automatically downvote anyone who downvoted them which would removes all meaning to the voting system.
Sorry to be so negative, but the potential to grief just jumped out at me as this games potential Achilles heel.

That's actually part of the game. I'm pretty sure some people will make it their "job" to hunt down the rogue elements, you'll earn from the state for doing that too. I think we will add "wanted" posters to the town too for certain IDs that are particular bad and there will be equipment to help you track them down bounty-hunter-style. You can be the secret police.
So don't worry too much about it, the game is simply a ton of fun even when people grief - and yes, we have plenty of griefers on our test team! (and on our dev team!)
My wife, who (bless her) has zero interest in games and technology in general, was pretty captivated by the stream (was watching it on TV). She loved the running animation too, said it looked more real than most games.

All this game needs are labor camps for mischief makers (from which you could escape and turn into dissident/guerilla) and 'Nothing cannot surprise us' drills for the players
Precisely.
I can see you are getting into the spirit of things
Fantastic looking game, really looking forward to this! Not too keen on the social aspects, so need to look through the thread to see if a non-online solution is to be found. Regardless fantastic title and wish you guys luck with the continued production of the title!
Love how the game looks!
I only hope those explosions are just placeholders. I would love to see how fire would look like in the game, with amazing particles.
Like the fire in Alien: Isolation/Deep Down a mix between those ore something. What we miss these days in games are cool looking explosions with realtime volumetric clouds and nice looking physics around them.
So you're looking forward to a game where its central premise of community interaction & cooperation you aren't too keen on?

Oh look another comedian whos going to enjoy a special seat with the others. Hope its not too crowded in there.

Watching more of the archived stream this really looks nice, incredible how the graphics look just like the early screenshots and the unique style is fantastic. Its nice to see more "builder" types of games like these coming out, since always have a soft spot for them and can see myself messing around for a pretty good amount of time with the title.
Do hope the whole reporting system and such will work well, since otherwise would turn out to be a chore instead of something amusing.
Anyone who has played an MMO knows how disorganized a random group of players can be, and especially how so many people seem to enjoy messing stuff up for no good reason - people who've been playing the game for many, many hours or days (Raids, so the people in it are at the max level.) - and that's with no real gameplay powers, and in games that have already existed for several years.
But this is a brand new game, with no established player base or community, so the players in the game will be brand new. And since it doesn't sound like the gameplay is based around competitive, PvP mechanics, it's more about working with a community in a PvE style, won't the grefing just be annoying to those people who are playing for the PvE? Or, just fun for the people who are in it for the PvP?
Yet it sounds like sabotage or griefing will be a huge part of the game -- there seem to be a ton of mechanics for sabotaging towns and people, but it doesn't sound like that's the goal of the game. Or is it?
I think that's sorta the point of the game. It's a socialism simulator. Are we even able to work together for our mutual benefit? This game could be great if everyone works together, but it could be a nightmare if just a small percentage of the population derives more fun in ruining the game for others.

Which is awesome. I'm just worried that I'm not going to get in. I wonder how many people they will send a code to.Beta testers will be allowed to share their experiences publically!
