Shame on all the rebel scum who buy X-wing and not TIE-fighter.

No mention of Enemies of the Empire in the Tie Fighter blurbs. But wouldn't its inclusion be implicit in the Windows version?

Edit: Hey, The Stele Chronicles! Would be fun to reread that.

It says so in the game description.
One is the DOS version(1994) and the other is windows.

They have numerous games with multiple versions, they always get 1 entry with multiple download links in that entry.

Won't be able to check this till I get home - is the "94" TIE edition really the first release, or is it the '95 Collector's CD-ROM release?

It's the collectors edition.

Got X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Sam and Max! Never did play the first two, glad I finally get a chance to rectify that.

Just installed Tie-Fighter. There is native Xbox Controller Support in Flight Mode. Even my XONE Controller works.

Never played Tie Fighter back in the day. Does it still hold up or is it an old relic that hasn't stood the test of time?

Well, I can't think of any contemporary game that quite plays the way it does, so if nothing else, it's kind of unique.

(Is there anything that apes the pseudo-dynamic mission structure of the X-Wing family of games?)

Anxiously awaiting news of how 360 gamepad works for TIE fighter

Just installed Tie-Fighter. There is native Xbox Controller Support in Flight Mode. Even my XONE Controller works.

Oh, ok then!

Pretty cool that you can also try out X-Wing for Windows, didn't see that in last night's release thread. Good for them having triple-OS compatibility for DOSBox-only games right off the bat!

What a launch this will be.

TIE Fighter's description says it includes TIE Fighter and Defenders of the Empire; am I to understand that it does NOT include the Enemies of the Empire expansion? Enemies of the Empire is pretty good content and well worth it.

It's not super surprising that the game wouldn't include the new engine since it's a nightmare to get running, but I was kinda hoping they'd be able to back-port the content. :(

It was integrated into the collectors edition and never released on its own though right? It's not a real expansion like the others were and may not have been listed for that reason

Douchebag. Yes, me.

WHAT! Is this in both the DOS and Win95 versions?

Does the game automatically create black bars for correct 4:3?

Can you remap controls onto the 360 pad? Does it support shifting (ie, hold LB and press A for a different command than just A)

Could I potentially be comfy couching TIE FIGHTER?

My god...

Enemies of the Empire was never sold separately, it was only ever in the collectors edition which is what GOG has.

SoMI and KOTOR are normally $12.49 ($9.99 for the first week), more expensive than on Steam which is a bit of a shame. Then again, gotta squeeze a little extra cash out of the DRM-free enthusiasts.

Man the DOS version of TIE Fighter is only 20mb, I can remember wrestling with about 13 floppies back in my more impressionable days. My poor, battered CD copies of TIE Fighter and Sam & Max can now rest easy now as decorations on the shelf.

I wasn't going to get these, since I have both versions of both X-Wing and Tie Fighter, but it's really tempting for the controller support. I may have to get at least X-Wing and try it out.

The updated version of Monkey Island is terrible. Disappointed about that, I'd have preferred for them to put on sale the original one. Save your money on this, it's not worth it.
Rest is... well, fucking fantastic.

You can switch to the original version at any time.

Apparently you can also retrieve the original game files from the special edition and launch the original with Scumm. Not sure if that makes a difference versus just switching to classic mode while playing the SE, though.

Now I just need the Galaxy client. I'm usually too lazy to download and play Gog games from the website :(. And I have *a lot* of games there.

Well that's that then, superior version confirmed? Once you delete the rest of the 1.3GB worth of bloat and back it up in a tiny 5MB archive with ScummVM.

I paid good money for this Dynex!

Pretty much. And I'll gladly pay more if that's what it'll take to get a DRM-free version of a game.

I think I'm in for KOTOR and SoMI today, and that's it.

The '94 version seems to be very clunky. You can calibrate your 360 controller (old calibrate your jostick thing) in it but I have not found a way to remap it. Also the game runs much slower and has a very low fps feel. Like the original.

The '98 Version runs much faster and you can remap controlls in it for all your gamepad buttons but LT/RT (XONE Controller). You just press a button on your controller and then select from a very long list of controlls what you want that button to do.

EDIT:
And no shifting option, so you still need the keyboard...

There are no black bars in both versions with one exception: The '98 versions intro.
