Assassin’s Creed Unity: Time Anomalies Trailer

Crossing Eden

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Felt nothing for this and looked plain boring people forget so fast what happend in these couple months with Ubisoft PR and what not and now all of sudden praising like there is no tommorow lol.
Well this trailer and thread has nothing to do with Ubi's PR hiccups, that's why nobody is bringing it up here.

What the fuck was that? Not getting Unity this year but I wish I hadn't seen that. It's like having THAT moment in AC3 spoiled.
The entire series is about playing with time so how is this a spoiler in any way? This isn't the first Assassin's Creed game.

How exactly is the thread title an "obvious spoiler"??? Not everyone is going to read "Time Anomolies" and think "Oh I must be able to play during World War 2".

If something like this can actually spoil the game for someone, then they shouldn't be watching trailers at all.

Wasn't there a guy on reddit a couple of months ago that said he was a play tester at ubi and that there are many different playable time periods other than the french revolution? Almost nobody believed but now it seems like he was telling the truth.

The game is set in Paris.
So? Hitler was in Paris.

Okay okay...fair enough. I just thought it would be awesome

No, it was a bunch of bullshit. Especially about being a tester at Ubisoft part. He said they there were a bunch of open worlds in different time periods where you also played as different characters. These seem to be specific challenge sections or some sort of side missions.

Pretty curious to see how much you get to see of the surroundings of the Eiffel Tower, because the crapton of landmarks surrounding it were built after the Revolution. If they went to some lengths to model these, I kind of expect another game or expansion using these modern assets.

Really? Okay, I'm slightly more interested now. Tell me more.
AMM missions give a theme and can change depending on what you do during a mission. For example, if you’re caught during a tailing sequence, it becomes a chase sequence. If you lose your target, it becomes a locate sequence.

Blackbox missions, which is the way the main assassinations play out give you an area to explore, “create opportunities, and kill your target.”
You can replay missions and complete them in different ways. To provide a visual example.

Wait, so this screen is a fake?

From what we know and what we've seen that appears to be the case. Ubi would have to be trying really hard to make Arno less appealing than Altair.

Altair and Connor are absolute snooze-town. At least they're moving away from a self-serious protagonist in a goofy sci-fi popcorn game.

This seems like it's gonna be either DLC or a game-within-a-game, like the Watch Dogs mechanical spiders that turned out to be part of an AR game.

The guy who originally leaked Unity to us, the one who said he sat next to someone from Ubi on a flight and they told him about the game (probably safe to assume he was a plant)... so far pretty much everything he mentioned has been confirmed, with the one exception that he claimed it takes place in both Paris and London.

What. I guess I'll poke the creative director on Sunday when I get a chance to speak to him at PAX Aus, because this will change everything about the franchise. Typically we were stuck in one time period but this is just...what.

According to the cast trailer and recent footage he's playful around Elise and a more professional around people like Napoleon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAsM5l9l0Vw I quite liked Connor and his plight, apparently the higher reviews came from people who played the homestead missions according to the creative director of AC3.

You guys haven't seen the 30fps whining and Ubi boycotting for literally the last 2-3 months? Yeah Ubi is screwing up in the PR department, but that doesn't mean Unity is going to be bad, in fact it has looked like an amazing game from the start. This trailer just proves that point further.

Now it's just funny to see the "WAIT THIS GAME ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD" reactions.

Will you relax? People have a valid issue with the resolution stuff whether it upsets you or not.

At any rate, my preorder was never in danger of being canceled and this just renewed my interest :)

To people protesting that they shouldn't have shown this trailer - well, it's sort of worked! Judging by a lot of posts in this thread, there's been a sudden surge in Unity interest, providing many of them weren't by people pretending to be indifferent and uninterested to begin with. Someone at Ubi is getting a raise by the end of this week.

And lo! WW2, that particularly obscure historical era! Never been there before in games!

And as much as I'd love to climb the Eiffel, why have a turret section? Who asked for a turret section? Ugh.

What the. This didnt need to be spoiled. I hate this about modern games, there arent any surprises left when you get to play the games.

No. That is a different person. The other thing was the guy who leaked the internal beta footage on reddit. He said he was a tester for Ubi and that there will be a bunch of different open world levels and to choose from and different main characters. <--- BULLSHIT.

Wait, you don't get to play a mission as a particular character of the era/country?

=\

No.

Sad that we live in an industry where a cool secret like this has to be spoiled for marketing purposes though.

Yeah i'm pretty pissed they spoiled that. It's probably just a fun 5 minutes linear sequence, so keeping the surprise would have been way better, and it's not like an AC title needs that for marketing.

I remember when the first AC was released without anything being revealed about the whole Animus/embedded in present thing, and I thought it was a very cool surprise for such a big game to keep.

Too bad they didn't choose the same way here.

Or in AC2 when you briefly went back to the crusades.
