Oh man I'm in fucking tears. I'm going to an outing with my family later today but I'm going to bookmark this thread for later. I'm going to re-read the first 40 pages the same way I'd re-read my favourite Stephen King novels. I don't know exactly which page/post it's revealed that everyone bitched for literally no fucking reason, but let's call that the climax or denouement. I can't wait to get to that part fellas.

honestly how big the maps are will make or break the game. The maps in Halo 4 were just too big. The "small" maps were as big as medium size maps in the previous Halos.

I liked Halo 4's campaign. The multiplayer was meh but the story was solid. I just wish the end
fight with the Didact was more than a COD style QTE
. Otherwise it was fun, had engaging battles, had incredible graphics, and some truly awesome cutscenes. I played through it solo on legendary.

Its a matter of opinion. Granted, I haven't finished the campaign yet. But ill hold my taste against yours any day of the week and twice on Sundays. So far its fun. And that's all that matters to me.
 
I'm assuming by e-sports/"competitive scene" he meant things like MLG or something.

Figured. Also the small type arenas should go well with that too. It's just that this post of yours

Asked around, things can change but, assault rifle got dat ADS too, "pretty much" all the weapons. They're going for that e-sports scene very hard.

made it sound like the ADS was in because of eSports, haha

There is a reason, its still in. xp and sprint along with medals are in too. This tells me they are still after the COD crowd.

Do they mean there's no difference in damage per second...or no difference in accuracy...or both?

I would think its pretty pointless to even have ADS if it doesn't offer a slight advantage to accuracy at range. Especially for e-sports why bother using it if you can't hit something a little more accurately? If anything, if that's the case its worse than pointless...its a detriment bc its slow to use and opens u up to getting shot when u slow down or stop to use it.

In CoD, ADS increases accuracy, slows you down and snaps to a target. Plus, when you get hit, you react by "flinching." In Halo 5, you'll move at the same rate, have the same accuracy and when you get hit you will descope rather than flinch. No idea if it will still snap to a target. As for why they're including ADS at all, as Shinobi said it has something to do to make the game appealing to MLG.

Medals have been in since H2. As for XP... we'll see. I don't have a problem with having cosmetics tied to an XP level so long as there's a proper skill rank as well.

from what I get, ADS is basically scope with all the same mechanics and different skin.

A bunch of overreaction. It's a very early Beta for a reason. Voice your opinions loudly but respectfully. Calling 343 stupid and telling them all to go fu- well you get the picture.

I got called it out for saying this, but it looks like I was at least partially correct.

It just seems like 343i has been listening to fan feedback for the the entire development of Halo 5, and it would seem odd if they suddenly threw in everything that Halo players are opposed to.

Glad to see that we might not have a GAF revolt on our hands.

Why exactly are people against COD style boss battles with QTE's? I always find them especially fun, they really drag me into the game and I feel like the character, pressing all these buttons to do all these actions.

I always feel they are very strong especially on final bosses.

They're cinematically interesting, I agree, but with all the hype we'd seen with the Didact up to that point it did kind of feel like a let down. I mean, it didn't kill the game for me, and I don't know how a boss fight with him would have gone, but something more would have been cool.
 
I'll never stop overreacting on the chance it ends up being justified. But I'll admit when I was in the wrong.

You don't think there is anything even remotely wrong with this? I mean it's good that you'll admit when your wrong but why not just be a level headed human being NOT overreacting to every sliver of news?

- tired of playing as the master chief, the dudes become boring. i welcome playing as Locke for the duration of H5

LS to climb up on the light bridge, LT to plant a grenade, LS to crawl towards the bomb, RT to detonate the bomb.

Just astonishingly uninspired stuff.

Thanks, that helps clear it up some.

To clarify a bit more between "COD ADS" and presumably what "Halo ADS" is going to be...when you say COD ADS increases accuracy do you mean it increases accuracy artificially beyond basic zooming accuracy by giving some sort of statistical boost to hit rate that compensates for recoil and movement?

If that's what you mean then I suppose there could still be a way to add ADS to Halo without all that auto-aiming compensation stuff so that Halo ADS basically only gives you a slight advantage in some medium distance fire-fights by virtue of zoom. So, no auto-targeting boost and itd actually be a disadvantage in close quarters due to zoom reducing FOV and descoping time so people would be discouraged using it too often.

I just expected to run around and use the cover that was all over the final area fighting a space ship or something while Cortana hacked it to open up weak spots or something. Instead it was... What I said above.

Jesus Christ @ this thread.

Destiny did ADS and sprinting, and the combat in that was outstanding. Reach had sprint and it was the best feeling of any Halo by far. And honestly, even if they added ADS, as long as the core components of the combat don't change (ie how long it takes to take someone down and the weapon balance) I don't see how it changes anything. It's still much more Quake then CoD, as it always has been, and why I love Halo MP.

Honestly, what I saw in those clips looked GREAT to me. Hard to tell, but it looks like the visuals will be amazing.

Disagree, of course. Not much that is more embarrassing than intricately describing the ebb and flow of Halo's fluid and fast-past combat, and lamenting its demise, all based on literally nothing, and then being proven spectacularly wrong a few hours later.

Master chief is boring because Bungie wrote him that way. He's actually very very interesting and bad ass in the books(can't speak for the comics) and I think they are gonna delve into that in H5. But I agree partially as I too welcome Locke as MC isn't the only Spartan. He's unique but it's be nice to see the story from a different perspective. And whoever the actor is that plays Locke fucking nails his VO and look.

Ah okay, so just better QTE then? Yeah I agree, the way COD utilises QTE is way more fun and feels impacting than in H4. Like tapping A 5 times before quickly switching over to B. Halo was more like a guide cinematic lol.
 
I'm perfectly fine with overreacting to stuff like this. 343 already fucked up Halo 4. It never helps that the first stuff you see of their new game is ADS. Guilty until proven innocent in cases like this for me. Good to hear the new details however and I'll keep a close eye on the reveal Monday.
