With the way things are going with the squid mechanic, you can basically have someone use a long range high power sniping rifle to help you sneak around. Or other things of that nature

I love that the devs are doing this twitter update stuff, every Nintendo team should do this, imagine Smash Bros. Dojo for every game.
I agree, even a weekly or monthly update with an image plus a brief description would be enough, at this point they should know how a single screenshot can generate really long discussions and speculation, keeping the game in the mind of the public, it's free marketing.

They mentioned a 1v1 local mode where one player uses the TV and the other uses the Gamepad.
The limited local multiplayer mode could be a hint of what they might end up doing with controller support.

On second thought is kind of weird the local multiplayer mode is a 1 vs 1. Wouldn't make more sense to be a co op mode to tackle multiplayer battles? That is, multiplayer supported up to 2 players for each Wii U.

Regarding what this could imply for controller support, a 1 vs 1 would be an scenario were quick travel is not needed. And so far the only method we know is by using the touch screen. So under normal circunstances the Gamepad is the method to play the game and Wii Pro or Wii Remote would be for local only.

Couldn't careless about Wii Pro, but seen a shooter not supporting the Wii Remote fully is a waste.

So I was thinking. We really need some symbol or icon for Splatoon for the hype and the eyes in the Splatoon logo just don't seem to work well. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to recreate the missing pieces of the octopus and squid posters we see in this image here.

Those would make a great little stamp on an avatar, like squid approved or octopus approved.

I recreated the Octopus poster from scratch. Now you got a clean looking one to go along with the Squid poster!

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
why are squids and octopi fighting

don't they know both are great dishes?

never left the stone age
Yes at E3 they confirmed there will be other multiplayer modes.
I hope my great idea is in.

Basically it's capture the flag, only difference is that you can't take the flag object with you through the enemy team's ink. The one holding the flag can't spray ink at all so his or her teammates need to assist and spray paint a path towards the capture point.

This control scheme wasn't used on the Wii. It's used on the 3ds versions of Resi Revelations and Ocarina of Time if you've played those. It's far faster and more accurate than with just sticks.

No gyro = waggle. People know, they played Wii Sports.

Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. Yabuki turned off voice chat in Mario Kart races. True artists of their time.
This game looks so fun.

I feel like we are getting a lot of these, lol. They can't keep doing this for months, can they?

It has an early 2015 launch, right? So, they probably can continue releasing tweets about it, until launch.

If this game is compatible with Wiimote pointer aiming, it most definitely has my interest.

It should be in the game, but I don't think they've confirmed it yet. Using the Wiimote might be a more accurate option than just using the analog stick, which could give an unfair advantage to people using the Wiimote, so maybe they might not include it.

Gyro Aiming, how does it work exactly? I think it's a piece of hardware installed in the controller that lets you establish a default point of reference in 3D space, and by moving the controller, you're essentially moving a cursor around in that space from the previously established default point of reference.

A PC mouse, once it has been set down on a mousepad and, in effect, "established its point of reference" is sort of the equivalent but only on a 2D plane. (All though, I assume that most games will only use gyro aiming on a 2D plane as well.) As opposed to analog, which uses a real "object" to directly translate movement to the software or graphical based "cursor", as well as IR or motion sensor trackers (Wii controller, etc.) that require 2 points of contact established at all times (Controller and a remote sensor.), and, while a 3D plane is probably possible with the tech, the gaming stuff only uses a 2D plane. Is that correct?

GamePad also uses a magnetometer (wasn't part of the WiimotePlus). Don't ask me how it works, though.

Reporting from the Squid Translation Lab!

Investigation report from the Squid Research Lab. This mysterious person (sorry, squid) guides the protagonist in Hero Mode. It seems that in the peaceful squid world he is the only man (sorry, squid) that has noticed the plans of the Octopus Corps. Anyway, he's totally seeing our cameraman here.

We have confirmed the existence of various contraptions in Hero Mode. This cannon can shoot powerful ink bullets. Could it be something that the Octopus Corps set up, or was it someone else entirely? Be that as it may, it looks like a rather technologically advanced device.
