Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire |OT| Hoenn Finally Confirmed

It's not explicitly stated, but Zinnia stops Steven's plan to avoid the meteor by warping it elsewhere, saying that it would cause trouble for some other universe, specifically citing a universe with a Hoenn that's the exact same as their own, but in which the war 3000 years ago never happened so there are no megas, aka original RSE.

Is there any way to transfer Hold Items and Mega Stones from my Pokemon Y?

It's bullshit that because I buy my games from the eShop and because I only own a single 3DS, I don't have anyway of transferring all my Items and Stones and EV Training and Breeding tools...

You'll have to find a trustworthy trading partner, sadly.

I really need to try a Pokemon game sometime. Coming into this thread is like I've entered a different dimension where I don't have the faintest fucking clue what people are saying. The individual words make sense but the sentences that they form I am unable to compute. This goes for just about every Pokemon thread I've come into.

You'll ease into it once you actually start playing.

Little of what we're talking about is necessary to enjoy the game on a basic level.

Twhaht? You guys are going to have to draw me a picture...
Red/Green = Ruby/Sapphire -> Gold/Silver -> Diamond/Pearl -> Black/White -> Black2/White2 = X/Y

A Gamefreak employee actually elaborated upon this a few months back for inexplicably no reason, I guess we know why now.

Rival Theme

It's not terrible. Still not nearly enough trumpets though.
I like this as much as the original: good mix of brass and electronics, more percussion is fitting, and the original elements are still here (timpani and trumpet).

Route 119 Sounds WAY too weak. That track should be blowing my ears right off. Just depressing to hear something that limp. The Gym leader battle theme is a crime too. There's just no punch to anything.
Is the Route 119 trumpet lead dying off a problem with the YouTube sound recording or a problem in-game? It sounds bad, as in I keep expecting a low trumpet drone or some blast and then the arrangement squanders what I honestly think are half-decent trumpet samples.

Wait, bw2 at the same time as xy? This I did not know.

Oooh, I didn't realize BW2 and XY took place at the same time. If we're gonna discuss the Pokémon timeline do we know how much time takes place between those games? I know we do for some of the earlier ones at least

Flee from this place, there's still time to save yourself!
Hey, this ain't half-bad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saJKbcrFKME

More chipper than the original, and still less french-horn blasts, but the melody lead's a bit less obnoxious now. One of the troubles with arranging GBA-era Pokémon music is that (for RSE in particular) certain samples always sounded more like processed keyboard synth than orchestral/modern instruments. This is a good compromise.

It's 2 years from B/W to B2/W2 iirc.

Bulbapedia has a pretty complex timeline going on here.

But it looks like 3 years between Red, Blue, Ruby, Sapphire and Gold, Silver, Diamond, Pearl.

And as mentioned above two years between B/W and B2/W2, X/Y.

But we only know its a 'few' years between G/S, D/P and BW.

What if there was a post game patch they released for Battle Frontier? That would help keep it timed exclusive.

Thanks for that, the stuff on that Bulbapedia page is way more interesting to me than it probably should be. :p

I do wonder how much time has taken place from R/B to X/Y though..

Battles look great, overworld looks ok...soot doesn't come off the grass now though

I had so much fun clearing that route from all the soot back in the day, that's terrible. D:

Route 104 sounds great.

See, they actually did a good job with the brass samples, but I swear Kageyama's doing the bulk of arranging the standard tracks like he did for HG/SS. Only PokéMart stands out to me like a definitive Ichinose piece. Still crawling the playlist.

So I am in a predicament here. I transferred my pokemon from GBA, to Gamecube to DS and Wii. The last game I transferred my Pokemon to was Pokemon White. The problem is the game isn't being read anymore by the DS or 3DS. Does anyone have any ideas on how to transfer to Pokemon Ruby or am I screwed?

Are there any version exclusive Mega stones this time around? I'm guessing yes, but I can't find an answer anywhere.
Only megastones Serebii has not found in OR are Garchompite and Lucarionite

I think we can both agree that those are probably both cases of "haven't located" rather than "version exclusive"

So the answer to your question is probably no.

I'm not even kidding when I say this is the only good brass piece.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Kageyama. Ichinose has been missing for a while.

You can't use your copy of White on a DS or 3DS?
Wait a minute DS to Wii?
Wouldn't that mean that you have pkmn from Gen DPPt/HGSS transfered to the Wii App Pokemon Box or something?

I'm in the same situation. Looks like my mons are going to stay on Y, my only real life friend who has a 3DS won't be buying the new games for now so I can't use him to trade. I'd even be willing to pay for Pokemon Bank once if it could be used to transfer items, but nope. My shiny Delphox won't be coming along with me on this adventure :(

Not enough trumpets for me. Here's hoping there's GBA sounds.
There's voices used to replace the synth-like GBA sounds, but yes, not enough brass overall. I don't mind for some arrangements because they have different instrumentation or approaches to the original track and environment, but there are some baffling changes. For example, Sootopolis City the original started on a lower dynamic with muted organ before introducing the accordion synth, but the new version sticks to one boring dynamic and has accordion in every phrase, so it sounds repetitive despite sharing the same track length. Based Kageyama. This applies to Mt. Pyre's Summit, sadly, but that at least benefits from great acoustic guitars.

I hope Amazon's preorders for this don't turn out like Fire Emblem and Pokemon XY did for me where they didn't come until a few days after release. :/
Still stuck on "Pre-ordered" at 6:15 pm.
C'monnnn Guaranteed Delivery date...

Just listen on from 0:47 for the Team Magma/Aqua Grunt Battle music. The brass has been completely replaced by the frankly terrible synth. There's no subtlety at all.

Game Freak couldn't nail the most iconic part of Hoenn's music. I pretty much dislike most of what Kageyama does, but we'll see if it's him.

To celebrate ORAS, I will continue for the first week or so catch Birth Island Deoxys from Emerald (I have the means to get on the island too). Some gaffers have already received these too.

They're not genned, are uncloned, are unhacked, and come directly from G3 Hoenn!

Same applies with Wishmaker Jirachi (with TMs or vanilla with Salac or Ganlon berries and Ageto Celebi (vanilla or with TMs) and to a lesser extent Colosseum Pikachu (comes with light ball).

Give me a PM if interested.

Kind of dumb. Really liked that effect, ah well.

Do you think you can confirm something? I heard that the Battle Frontier Brain theme plays when you fight the Chatelaines, have you heard that/and or checked yourself?

That new phrase beyond 0:50 actually has more brass in the ORAS mix and a sudden punctuation of tubular bells and hard synth in the original. RSE'a arrangement does this for effect because the listener's expecting some brass climax; the ORAS version just seems to drone, not hitting its high quick enough for me to care. That's what's lame here, the loss of dynamic complexity that even Masuda exhibited, not just Ichinose or Aoki.

Kageyama's credited in ORAS, and he might well have gotten this work done before leaving. I hope Ichinose's in the full credits, not just the slice we got from the demo dump.

Must admit, I was never really much of a fan of the original RSE music, but I'm even less of a fan of the ORAS stuff. It all feels a little flat to me. Not sure why.

Anyway, this was something I remembered we covered a while ago. Not sure how much that holds true/applies to what you said. Adachi seems to be taking lead on the music.

Listen at 1:00. That's the main part. There was singular horn in the originals, in the new one, it's just a jumbled mess.

And I hope Ichinose isn't involved. He is so by and far the best thing they have going for the sound team that I don't want to think he's washed out now.

Aoki has been MIA for a while, too. I was hoping the original team would be back for at least a few of the tracks.

So, uh, I really wanted to abstain from this because of no BF bs and everything...

But thanks to some videos, I'm starting to build hype for this. WHY

Honestly, it's difficult to predict who's doing what track given how rapidly the Game Freak sound team evolves and tries different sounds. Some tracks are impressive, like the new Diving theme, which takes Ichinose's original, adds an aquatic ambiance, but doesn't sacrifice the counterpoint and moody texture of the original. But Adachi could be in charge of that one, too, and I still think she's a wildcard, more so than Sato who's barely around to compose or arrange.

And yeah, that odd horn is missing. They really didn't get the Grunt Battle theme right, whereas the Admin Battle theme is awesome. Legendary Battle themes are equal to me.

Adachi's known for her synth and she's relatively new to the sound team.

The Diving theme and Surf theme are both absolute bliss now. They're great. Again, they just really messed up on the brass this time, and that's a shame since it's what mad Hoenn's music iconic.

I agree that both of the weather trio's theme is pretty good. The tuba made a big difference.

The newer compositions are pretty good. They're a step above XY tracks and don't have brass samples.
