Rumor: Far Cry 4 Xbox One runs at ~1400x1080

That's still a massive resolution difference, I don't think we'll ever have such a disparity again (Nintendo aside). Must suck to have 90% of a library sub 1080p.

I agree that it is odd how DF is seemingly choosing one platform to do analysis on instead of proper faceoffs.

eh Sony has a marketing deal with Far Cry 4. Who knows what the tangled web is required for them to have acquired FC4 on XBO in an adequate time frame!

Not that big of a difference…(lololol) but at the same time, it's funny how so many people argued that XBO was just as powerful as PS4 yet here we are a year into this generation and the simple act of getting the same resolution is still a struggle.

Won't work properly unless the game lets you manually control the aspect ratio as well.

Dark Souls 1 would be a good game to test it with, actually. DSFix gives you the option of keeping the original res and its aspect ratio, so the higher res equivalent would be 1536x1080.

I believe GeDoSaTo can do something similar to this.

"Due to the higher resolution, there are dips on the PS4 where as the XB1 holds a steady framerate (relevant posted video shows otherwise). To sum up we find that largely both version perform similarly."

Because the game is CPU bound and XB1 has higher clock speed.

Excellent, but you forgot "we see a dip here in the PS4 version in this random area that happens for half a second. Curious."

This is pretty sad that those of us with both systems have to wait to figure out which versions is actually 1080p, has a better framerate, and so on.

I'm very upset that publishers aren't being upfront before the game comes out and saying here's exactly what they are.

What are you talking about? You don't have to wait for anything. The PS4 version will always be better.

Sad? What are you expecting? It's a relatively small niche that actively cares about the minute differences in games.

Therefore the supply for these types of analyses will be on the low end.

And during a busy holiday season, it's no surprise that DF is beyond busy with work.

If it ends up performing better on Xbone I'll get that version when I get the console down the line. Current pattern of PS4 showing more detail at the cost of performance is concerning.
