Resident Evil HD Remaster confirmed for PS3/PS4/360/XB1/PC

I think the game looks as expected in the new pictures. I think there was no way they'd do anything special with the backgrounds for the PS4/XBONE/PC versions. It wouldn't make sense for them to recreate certain backgrounds for those versions but not for PS3/360.

That said, this screenshot is probably the worst the game will ever look:

That background looks like they just gave up. That background animates in the original, and I guess it's a good indication as to why they've been re-doing parts of animated backgrounds for REmaster, and that's to prevent it from looking as bad as this. But I guess they didn't bother with this room for whatever reason.

In the newest behind the scenes video, the guy says they didn't fully re-create all the rooms because they were worried it'd become too different from the original. But I'm pretty sure what he wanted to say was "We'd love to re-do every single room, but we don't have the budget for it."

Those versions still don't have a date. early 2015 is so vague too. I'm just wondering, what else could they do with that time.

Believe.

I wonder why didn't they also completely remade this room in 3D. This room is beautiful in the original game. Here, it looks simply awful :/

Not sure why some people are still somewhat butthurt over the look of this.

I think it looks great.

I dunno

People are "butthurt" because to them, it doesn't look great. Different people have different priorities when it comes to games. If you're fine settling for it that's cool, others don't have to.

No offense, but I genuinely wonder how those pics can look 'great' - even 'good' - to someone. I mean, aside from unquestionable personal tastes - I know many who play 'hd ports' of old 2D games with that smeary filter all over the place, and claim they look fantastic - the heavy filtering here pretty much screws up the entire scene, hiding details, compromising the sense of depth...

Did this game always look like that?

Guys, has it been confirmed whether the japanese version will have english subtitles? I know the asian version will have, but not only do I prefer japanese versions over asian ones, I also pay less for it when importing to my country, so it would be great if I could get that one.

I think it was stated in one of the videos it will have english voices, but nothing was said about subtitles.

I don't think it's confirmed anywhere. Play-asia.com lists Japanese version as being Japanese only, but I don't know where they'd get that info from.

I can say that my Japanese copies of RE5 and RE6 on PS3 both support English, but that doesn't guarantee REmaster will be the same.

I see, thanks for the info. If RE5 and 6 had it, odds are this one will have too. I remember Okami was a similar case, Play-Asia advertised left and right the Asian version would have english subs and said nothing of the japanese version. Turns out the JPN version had english subs, Capcom simply never disclosed the info.

Looks like the Asian Release is getting a Collectors Ed too (I missed that info) also it still seems that the Asia releases are the only ones that fully translate the game based on your systems region at least according to Play-Asia
Play-Asia
Collector's Edition also includes an Art Guidebook (B5 Size 48p) and a Mansion Designer G Trevor Floor Map (B2 Size)
Supports both English & Japanese subtitle and voice, language is based on PS3 system language.

Why are they even bothering with last gen? By focusing on next gen the game could be soooo much better.

It couldn't be. The problem is that the game is using prerendered backgrounds and (as we can conclude by now) Capcom only has assets that were used in the final GameCube version, i.e. pretty low-res. No matter how much work you put into it, turning 480p pictures into 1080p will never give you amazing results unless you make them from scratch.

Since this is due out this week in Japan, is anyone buying it digitally on PS3?

Any recommendations for places to buy psn vouchers which are sent via email?

I think Play Asia sells them. You can also buy the Asian version from them which is in English.

Might get the Play Asia version assuming the text/menus is also in english (not just subs and audio).

Anyone got any pics on what the collectors edition brings?

Thanks I'll check them out. Looking forward to playing this again so hoping it has English text... although I guess it doesn't really matter if not.

I'm wondering if I made a mistake by ordering a physical copy rather than buying a digital one. I guess the release date is the same, right? Considering it's being shipped from the other side of the world, I probably have to wait a while for it, even though I paid for expensive shipping.

Came across these images and have failed miserably to find their source, I had no idea there was any kind of "behind the scenes" footage/images out there.

Anyone know where these came from? would be amazing to see more making of material.

EDIT: slightly NSFW image

I can't believe we still didn't get a release date for the new generation version but a "early 2015".

If this wasn't released in January I will be extremely upset.

Playasia sells the ASIAN version, which features both english and japanese and works perfectly on all systems sold worldwide in case you should wonder.

hmm after some further reading it seems Una was the voice and Inezh was the actual actress, I'm terrible at finding the info I want though lol, but will keep reading.

EDIT: I give up lol, there is next to zero info on Inezh (that I can find anyway), aside from "Mikami said in an interview that she was a stubborn high-school girl at the time". It's up to Detective Gaf ;)

I remember reading some of the heated discussions about this way back when. Some people were pretty adamant that it was indeed Una, and even when she herself confirmed that it wasn't her, people still insisted. It was pretty funny how fanatic some of them got about it.
