Killcam is not in matchmaking and I haven't had a matchmaking game with load outs either. Sure the selection menu comes up but there is only one choice in most matches.

My only issue with H2A is that there are only 6 maps and one of them is Bloodline (I've always hated this map) and the fact that pretty much every map has performance issues.
I know this may sound crazy, but I've only gotten into a few Anniversary multiplayer matches. All of which were BR's on ________ so I was going off my custom game experience with which I've had more time.

Why are people voting for Warlord with BR starts? Oh its against Stonetown with SMG starts? WARLOR.... dammit. Stonetown with SMG starts.... for the 12th time in a row.....

At least I get games.

The Halo MCC community is the WORST at voting.

My criteria is

BR starts are most important. If you see BR starts PICK IT. I don't care if its on a shit map, BR starts on a shit map is better than AR's on a great map
If you see 2 BR starts, pick the better map

If no BR starts are available for voting (fix this 343) then vote for Halo CE

Naw dude SMG starts on KOTH in H2A is the best!

I want to know why there are AR/SMG starts in the first place. It's almost fucking 2015. You think someone would've learned by now, yeah?

What don't you like about H2A? Feels amazing to me.
I dunno, maybe the fact that it is completely unplayable in split-screen?

Going from a rock-solid 60 in HCE, H2, and H3 to sub-20fps in H2A is incredibly jarring, to say the least...

I feel like nothing in this collection was playtested extensively before launch.

H2A split-screen campaign is fine most of the time, so why is MP such a steaming pile of shit?

Whether it was well-playtested or not, it's obvious that MCC needed more development time. Testing probably isn't the core issue.

Well, H2A campaign and H2A MP were made by two completely separate companies on two totally different engines. There's not any particular reason for them to be in the same boat.

Well, as you said, it's almost 2015, why are you still split screening, hah.
Dat FoV.

Dat comfy couch.

Dat not second job.

were are the open terrain fights that required aim and skill to win rather than just throwing nades and then sprint for an easy melee
i know closed quater caters towards casuals that can pickup a kill easier there..
Another example of how varied the fan's perception of an ideal Halo is.

...

Why would I want to make my girlfriend (or brother, or friends, etc.) go downstairs and suffer through the horribly buggy online (as the game is lacking the promised system link functionality) in order to play with me when we could just... I don't know, turn on a second controller?

Do you have no friends in real life? Split-screen Halo is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. Playing with your friends and loved ones on the same couch is amazing.

I'm just giving him shit, I really do hate guests in MP though.
When my brother and I play we almost always top our team, even with a "disadvantage." I'm sure you'll get over it.

We already have two PS4's in the house, and that was a mistake I won't be making again (now that they're used almost exclusively for Netflix). Needing to own two consoles just to play with someone else is really fucking stupid, and the ever-decreasing amount of support for split-screen in games is an incredibly worrying trend in my eyes.

I've played over 20K games of Halo MP, and never has a guest topped the leader board, so yea, you're a pretty big exception to the rule. I'm not saying you shouldn't be allowed to play MP with a guest, but there should be a list dedicated to it.

Doesn't have to be a guest to be split screen. The second player can easily have their own gamertag since only one needs to be paying for gold membership.

*Puts on old man hat*

Back in my day when we played Halo everyone got one quarter of a 20 inch CRT screen and we got good the hard way.

Oh the good old days. Still remember the 16 player CE LAN with a 32", (2) 25", and a 19" tv. People were sitting about 3 feet from the 19" shoulder to shoulder.

If anybody is wondering why the reviewers didn't mention the multiplayer issues - the multiplayer reviews were done at a closed 'review event' run by 343 on a LAN. The actual matchmaking code didn't go live until the 15gb patch (shortly before release).

And they didn't learn the lesson from Battlefield 4?

A major number of the reviews for this game are an embarrassment today.

I think you may be forgetting the fiasco of Halo 2..... or the fact that he worked on Destiny up until nearly going gold...... or the fact that he's a writer, not a studio manager.
Considering all the content that had to be cut, I think Joe put together a great story. Halo 2 is the most quotable for sure.

How do you mean?

The downgraded graphics, the janky animation in cutscenes, the HORRENDOUS texture pop-in, especially during cutscenes. There's no secret that Halo 2 came sliding in flaming hot at the end and it shows. Playing the original is garbage compared to the MCC with original graphics turned on. Janky is the best word I have for it.

Sure, but I believe the comment was "Make Joe Staten studio manager."

He's a good writer, what makes you think he should be overseeing all development? Halo 2's problems/ambitiousness are an example kinda similar to Destiny of how development can change course and leave you with something fans didn't expect.

EDIT: If Staten wants to go be a writer for 343/Halo 5, then I say FUCK YES!

I just picked this up and when I can play it's lovely but can we talk about why the fuck there is an assault rifle in Halo 2 Anniversary? I saved a clip and I'm like this is wrong....

Don't know what you expect from Joe Staten. Books, story, tv and film are his thing.

Microsoft can't just create a top studio out of thin air, who knows if it's been smooth sailing or they've changed staff after it didn't work out once or allowed time for things to settle then see how it goes. If Halo 5 fails to hit the mark and looks like a copy cat then god knows what they'll do. They've got a hard time either way. One day 343 might knock it out the park and find their groove, could be Halo 5, could be some other Halo IP. Chopping and changing might help but it could put them back to square one. Hope for the best I guess. Microsoft will keep it going.

I love the AR in 2A. I always swap my SMG for it. It rips people up in close quarters.

I don't mind the AR being in it, but it seems redundant. The silenced SMG is a murder machine close up, doesn't seem like both need to be in it.

It's astounding how broken this game still is. First game I have runs surprisingly well except that it's a 5v3 match and all my teammates start betraying one another. That one ends, I stay in the lobby and get a match on Blackout. After a long load, I'm the only one in the match. Quit out of it and try looking in another playlist. Game hard locks and I need to shut it down. Just like why.

Pfft, the texture popin was the most forward looking feature in the game. I can't count the number of UE3 games I played where textures meandered into the game some time after I started playing.

Sure (though I don't know about downgraded graphics, I still think Halo 2 looks great), but those are things that never ruined the campaign for me, personally.

Agreed. It was everything else about it that ruined it for me.

Alright, it has a few good levels, to be fair.

You guys that want Staten back... Have you read Contact: Harvest? Because I honestly though that was a pretty bland book. It also seemed to me like the book suffered from the typical situation where you want things to retroactively fit and then they just feel forced.

I'm not saying that Staten is a bad writer, he put together the Halo Universe after all, but I don't know, I think we could hope for more.

In the silenced SMG on any maps other than Bloodline? I haven't found one.

I thought it was on Lockdown? Either way, still redundant. Levels w/ AR could've just had the Silenced SMG.

Contact: Harvest is the only Halo book of the ones I won (I have like 6? of them) I couldn't finish because it was so damn boring.

With Combat Evolved starting as late into the history of humanity as it did, that's just a natural part of writing for the 'verse. There's a good 545 years or so of stuff that happened that we might have a hard time really understanding, and then on top of that the Covenant have been around since roughly 2000 BC.

So I decide to continue my CE LASO playthrough. Start out on Halo, finish it without much trouble. T&R is hell on earth, after an hour an a half I make it up the gravity lift. Game crashes trying to load the fuck you room in the ship.

This is the part I'm currently stuck on. These gold elites with swords are so brutal. I try to pull one of them but I end up getting 2 or 3 all jumping at me. That paired with low sniper ammo, yeah. What a miserable slog.

BRs on Warlord is terrible and should never, ever, be voted for. I don't care if your other two choices are SMG KOTH on Coag and Team Regicide. BRs on Warlord isn't getting my vote ever.

Even though it goes against every fibre of my being that has been instilled in me for almost a decade, this is a correct statement. I makes playing CE with it's "lol random spawn in front of an enemy squad" mechanics look almost reasonable.

BR starts in every other gametype and map in H2A is fine by me though actually.

Yep. BRs on Warlord is that weird laws-of-reality defying anomaly in Halo where the most useful weapon in the game actually ends up ruining a map. Giving everyone a BR on that map is the equivalent of giving everyone a sniper rifle that holds twice as many shots.

Do you like being shot at the moment you spawn before you can even react? Warlord is straight up too small for BRs/Carbines and makes matches on Warlord boring and generally unfun. Warlord BRs would be decent for a 2v2 match up, but any player count higher than that just transforms the game into a spawn killing fest usually.

Into the Belly of the Beast is a tough fight, but it's easier if you play it really aggressively. That's true for a lot of fights in Halo 1.

Lay into the enemy as they're coming through the doors, using the motion tracker for information about where they'll come from next. Try to rip apart groups of grunts and jackals as fast as possible; AR and PP can work here, and grenades if you desperately need to blast a wave.
If there's a group coming toward a door and one blip is way in front of the other blips, there's a fair chance that a sword goldie is coming. They like to roar, which is a great time to stick them with a plasma.
When music plays, you're down to the last few waves.
Try to keep killing enemies quickly to avoid being overwhelmed as long as possible. When you absolutely cannot sustain that any more, the next time you're by a door with enemies, get to the door. Only enemies can open them from the front, but you can use the hallways+doors for cover and to funnel enemies, to slowly pick off the last of the enemies. It sucks to be in that position, but you'll typically have to do some of it unless you're doing really good.

I'm at the point now, that when it takes a long time to find a match, I wonder if it's because the game is broken or if it's because of low population numbers. Sad.

Heads should roll at 343. Microsoft should put Joe Staten in charge of 343, to help instill some confidence in the community. I'm sick of all the negativity. I want Halo to be fun again. New leadership is needed.

bungie_joseph_staten_2013.0.jpg

He is the Bungie co-founder, and was the one that decided to leave Microsoft in the first place so he could work on other things besides Halo. Why would he join 343?? Seriously.

Sephzilla

For the same reason Warlock in Halo CE is flipping outrageous with more than say SIX players total (team or FFA). You're straight up shot to death within 1-2 seconds off of spawn... and those grenades don't make things easier for you.

Honestly though, 16 player FFA Halo CE Shotguns only / No shields / No Grenades on Wizard is fun in a stupid kind of way. Mostly because at some point one person gets "KILLTACULAR" showing like 5 times on their screen at once.

He actually is an employee for Microsoft Studios as of early 2014 as a Creative Consultant so... you know... there's that.

Basically his story goes that he wanted Bungie to go independent and make this awesome expansive new IP called Destiny. However, as time went on, the other heads of Bungie (I'm guessing Jason Jones, Harold Ryan and whoever the lead art director is) had this "vision" for Destiny that's more in line with what we see today and that's when Joe said "I'm out" and formally quit Bungie in September 2013.

Guess the grass wasn't necessarily greener on the other side...
