The MH association is surprising and almost sort of sad from Sony's perspective, given how that's shaken out.

I mean, sure. You don't need to make a habit of it. But when you come upon brand synergy like this, good business is to act on it.

on the bright(?) side Sony has been making efforts to dev and/ or market MH clones hoping to have a successor to MH on PS. Freedom wars, God eater, toukiden, soul sacrifice etc. yadda yadda

Monster Hunter will always be a Playstation series to me and the best games were on the PSP. Hopefully it'll return to the Vita one day.

I also hope MH comes back to PS platforms some day.I spent hundreds of hours in the PSP games.

I wasn't gaming in those days , but I wonder if this is how Nintendo fans felt when FF went to PS1.

Actually the opposite. GameCube, Wii, DS, 3DS and Wii U have had a lot of exclusive Sonic titles, all published in Japan.

She had 3 console games, was the protagonist of the cross over FF game (Dissidia 012), has been in every major cross over game, was in XIV, etc. In less than 5 years, she's been in 23 products and that doesn't count merchandising or anything else (for reference, Cloud has been used in ~30 games over a 17 year period). If Lightning wasn't on that list with how much they've pushed her, it would be a failure of epic proportions.
