Come the fuck on.

It looks ugly. I don't know what you're looking at but everywhere there isn't grass I see a bunch of stretched, ugly textures. If it's because the footage is offscreen then maybe they should have given us direct feed footage to make their game look not ugly.

It looks pretty, but...it's hard for me to get excited/hyped about the overworld; I mean, this was basically the video equivalent of Aonuma telling me that I can go to the mountains again, and it's getting a little old for me at this point.

I'm waiting to see the new items, dungeons (puzzles, level mechanics, etc.), and narrative elements (villains, heroes, NPCs, plot, etc.) before my hype train flies off the rails.

Heh, that stone texture following the form of the terrain perfectly in the top image looks awkward.

Even with the shitty video I think we can pretty much say the rock textures look like shit from what they showed. The field looked so good though.

The initial trailer gave me a Mononoke feel.

I have the feeling that "'Pokemon" may be Xern..I mean the Shishigami.

The scope is clearly immense, but the graphics in this demo didn't seem to measure up to the original reveal trailer that was shown earlier this year.

Don't care much though.

What I am more concerned about is if all that huge space is going to go to waste.

I don't want a Zelda title that is just an open desolate and barren waste.

I would rather have a smaller Zelda world replete with content than a vast one where you need to go major distances to find adventures.

I hope this game isn't like that.

2.15 there's a hut in the distance.

Honestly, kind of a let down. This video hasn't delivered on what was promised by the reveal and that amazing image. Waiting to see more.

But the reveal at E3 was in game as well, and there was quite a bit going on in that trailer, no?

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Come the fuck on.

I think you misununderstood his comment.

He says that for those who claim that there is a downgrade, Youtube compression + off-screen play does not help in establishing a reference between both reveals.

I guess they didn't want to create a proper trailer for TGA, but still wanted to show something so this is what we got: a game with a massive scope but is still clearly a year away.

The game is alpha, what we saw at E3 2014 was most likely an area the devs focused on to be able to showcase it. What we saw is pretty much everything else and is FAR from being done. A lot of it is likely not final and can change at the snap of a finger.

That's how it always works.

Looks good. I am a bit leery of endless grassy plains, even though that tends to be my favorite open world setting. I think open world games like this are only interesting if the environment changes up drastically, and often. I'm sure it will though, given Zelda's tropes. In any case, looks wonderful to explore, even if the gameplay looked rather same-y.

Motion tracking looked awkward as fuck though. And we still can't think of a better use for the Wii U screen than a map.

Relieved that I don't share the complaints after viewing this. It looks like the Zelda game I thought Ocarina of Time was going to be after seeing the Beta in 1996, and never turned up. It looks like a world I want to (and can) fully explore at my discretion, something only Wind Waker has ever seriously attempted to deliver in 3D Zelda. That they didn't show any towns, characters, dungeons, bosses, items or story beats doesn't bother me in the least, since I know these things will be there. Despite the sense that the game obviously has still yet to go through a decisive optimisation phase, and the fact that they didn't really show anything amazing (yet) I got what I wanted from this. Looks awesome.

I'm thinking this was made quick and dirty at the last moment because perhaps of a late request by Geoff. He did put the whole thing quite fast.

After E3 I was sure I would get a Wii U for this, but this looked kinda boring and with much less style. Didn't look like gameplay really. Still have hope.

Though it still looked like work in progress, 2015 now seem possible :)

This is my most anticipated game.

It goes without saying that it's far from being done. No excuse for a poor presentation. If it's not ready then don't show it.

I don't get all the comments about emptiness and "needs more wildlife and houses" (everyone is entitled to their own thoughts). This was a tiny snippet of a huge overworld for a game with another year left in development. On top of that, there doesn't need to be deer, wolves and bears around every corner for the sake of keeping your attention and becoming unrealistic. I grew up near the Cascades and what they have shown gets my heart pumping for exploration - I simply cannot wait. It also feels like a great return to the original Zelda.

That's how we know it's alpha, because the games that use gyro tracking for aiming (Captain Toad, Wind Waker HD, Ocarina of Time) absolutely do not look awkward, it's surprisingly smooth

Oh shiiiit!!!!111 That looks amazing! Though I'm still not convinced they can make it look as good as the picture (kinda hard to tell how good looking the game is graphically since it's off-screen). Anyways, this will definitely be day 1, and it's awesome to get an updated confirmation that we're still getting it next year.

Edit: Just to make sure, this is the picture I'm talking about, though I think we all know that.

There's just no way the game will look this good.

I That screenshot was touched up with some kind of super sharp AA iirc. Can't wait to see what the game will look like when it's done. Hopefully more creatures roaming about. I loved seeing the flock of horses running through the woods, I want more of that. Like all the npcs in the first trailer.

really discouraging. like the hand-crafted, distinct and personality filled sensibility of zelda has been lost to pander to those horrible western open world fantasy games like skyrim and dragon age. or maybe more the eerie emptiness of shadow if the colossus' world with the artistry of a windows screensaver.

"Real horses don't run into trees very often"

This... is so fucking obvious

how has this not been done before?

It has. Hell, Shadow of the Colossus has a boss specifically designed around letting your horses AI take over while running away from a boss so you can shoot at it.

Hah... well that's something we might agree on. This looks WAY better than The Order :D

LOL! : D

I actually think the Order looks great graphically, I just REALLY need to see more of it. I'm hearing we're supposed to get a much bigger gameplay demo tomorrow, so I'm hoping for the best. Regardless, I do think we're getting a bit off topic now. I'm glad our conversation didn't end on a bitter note though :)

Can't do that. Last time they did, people said their footage was fake at E3

I feel like Nintendo's under the pressure to show off the game a lot earlier than they'd probably like to, but it's great to see it. Zelda 1 is being translated into a 3D world.

This came out of nowhere D:

Whatever super expensive LE NoE can come up with, I´ll be there. That looked amazing

That's it. Rub it my face biatch.

We guna get a Nintendo World store exclusive while you get all da goodies ;.;

I'm bitter.

In all honestly it didn't look as good as E3 but I'm going to assume that's because the game is still a little early. Some sections looked pretty horrendously bare. The E3 reveal seemed pretty clearly in-game so I fully expect the game's quality to be there in all areas by release.

When people complain about empty overworlds, I generally get the impression that they have not spent much time outdoors.

As long as the game encourages and rewards exploration, the size of the overworld can only be an asset.

Creating trailers takes a lot of money and effort. You could put someone on a trailer for weeks and it has to be reviewed by a group of people, then edited, then reviewed again, then released. Sitting down and playing a dev build for a couple minutes is much quicker and cheaper.

The overreactions to the overreactions are getting pretty out of hand.

Game's overworld looks barren, the game will be good nonetheless. Nobody's saying this is the new Superman 64, the E3 trailer was on a whole other level of excitement and attention to detail though.

I do think the E3 trailer was in engine and at least part, if not all gameplay, but that forest though, compare the forest in the E3 demo to those 30 trees they call forest, a forest dense as the Milky Way, in today's demo.

Horse Riding Simulator 2015, huge lifeless world they have lots to do, as that demo makes me want them to shrink the map and pack more in rather than "it will take another 4 mins riding", I have faith though it is Nintendo they tend to show crap demos at the beginning then bang close to release shit looks amazing :)

Just a few other thoughts after having watched the video twice more.

- I love the wide open look of the forested area. Having been raised in prairie Canada I've noticed very few games manage to capture that look and feel. Looks good.

- I really hope the map is explorable almost exclusively on-foot. Epona is great, but I'd like to feel like I'm actually on a long journey as well.

- Please include pro controller support with tablet controller as a map.

I think the overworld is going to be similar to Shadow of the Colossus, too, although there will be a bit more to do since there will be NPCs and enemies to fight and other stuff to collect and whatnot. The real action will take place in the dungeons. I'm ok with that. It'll be a good contrast between exploring freely and then suddenly you're in a dungeon doing all sorts of fighting and puzzle solving.

I'm okay with this.

It's hard to keep track of who is posting what in this thread :p

True. Anyways, I believe this was just a quick demonstration. I'll wait til E3 for the trailers where they the show different varieties of NPC's and enemies before I judge this game as empty with nothing to do.

Vista's... X and Zelda U gonna give it to yah!

I'm SO beyond words right now in terms of my hype level. Tomorrow is going to be just as good too!

On another note... I hope FFXV can deliver on some cool views like Zelda U and Xenoblade as well. I love seeing that kind of stuff!

Gahiggidy

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.
Here...

Someone play the E3 reveal teaser trailer on a 46 inch flat screen. Put it next to a window during a sunny day. Then record that flat screen with a camera setup far enough that the screen takes up no more than one-sixth of the frame, and at a ~20-degree angle.

Then we can have a fair comparison.
