Thoughts on PS Experience Keynote?

Great open with no lead in, to sum up my feeling.
Yakuza 5 news cool, no Yakuza Zero
Killstrain cool, no gameplay
Persona 5 cool, no trailer
Lots of teaser, not enough meat.

But if you make a list of announcement, it will be super impressive.

It took them 3 years to bring us Yakuza 5. Don't expect a possiblity of 0 for years.

I actually think Until Dawn was the worst "game" of the show, if you can even call it a game.

I generally don´t have anything against Tell Tale-esque games....

....but that really didn´t look all that good.

I was hoping they´d go for something more Silent Hill-esque :/ ....Oh well...

Even if Shenmue, Half Life, Crash, FFVIIr and TLG got announced people would still be saying it was a massive disappointment and showed nothing they wanted. 2/10

The only disappointment is, there's so many games coming out that Sony don't have enough time to show much of them in one show and I don't have enough time to play them.

Oh and an in-person no show from Shu.

I think it was one of their all time worse events.

I'm usually a pretty big fans of their conferences and such, but this one had litterally no steam.

It started okay with the gameplay premiere of Uncharted, even though the game won't get any points for innovating the franchise...Then the rest was all about indies, upcoming ports of existing PC indies, barely improved remakes of terribly old games we all played, quirky concept games I would not even bother downloading if free on PS+, another cool clip of Bloodborne (just release it already, you know I want it), another bland clip of The Order and Until Dawn... And that's it.

I guess having the Video Game Awards the day before didn't help, making most of the stuff feel like deja vu, but I'm getting sick and tired of the Indiestation 4. It was cool at first during the first year to show it was open to indies and it helped flesh out the gaps between the big first party and third party releases, but it's been more than a year and the so called killer next-gen apps aren't really coming. Do they really think gamers are buying PS4s to play indie games ? Why would I buy a more expensive, to be released in six months version of an existing PC indie title that can run on any 10 year old system because it's , you know, indie and doesn't take advantage of the hardware anyway ? So why should I get excited about all these ports.

And showing respect for the Vita... Yeah, porting a few PS4 and PC indies does not show care.

Am I the only one starting to feel tired with No Mans Sky? I sure hope it will be an amazing game but the media/Sony is hyping it to brand new levels. All the trailers so far are the same thing. Same background music, the guy spawns, gets on a plane, finds a new planet, walks. The End.

There was a tweet on my feed that gave me a shiver down my spine. It simply said "No Man's Sky gonna be the next SPORE". Dear God I hope not.

You are not lying. That 5000+ page thread worth of hype was ridiculous. Especially considering that we all know the "circumstances" for all those franchises some were expecting to see on stage today lol.

Funny part was throughout that thread, other posters was saying temper your expectations, be realistic and to relax on the overhype

But people didn't listen lol

Great show. But the ending was meh. And screw Square Enix.

beautiful ending to this train wreck, we got carried away and this is what we got.

Thank you Eltorro

It has all the interactivity of a DVD Menu
That's patently ridiculous. Get the hell out of here with your bullshit. I'd love to see what DVD menus you're looking at.

It's more or less a choose-your-own-adventure game. It has button inputs, branching choice arcs and fail states. It's a game. Get over it.

Didn't watch the whole thing because I wasn't home, tuned in right before The Order started, but I watched the Uncharted gameplay by now.

Uncharted looks sick. More open, more dynamic, all the animations really pay of, and better than pretty much any game I've seen.
I really wonder if that was 60FPS though, because if it was... damn.

The Order looked pretty standard from a gameplay perspective. Standard cover shooting.
Amazing weapons and an amazing story and interesting environments need to make this game worthwhile because I think the gameplay will only be standard.
The melee combat looked very cool though. If thats playable like that it would add a bit diversity. Hope there is more stuff like that. Maybe some puzzles based on the soft body physics.

After that there was a lot of love for smaller games, which is nice but it not stuff that gets everybody excited like Uncharted or Bloodborne. Thats more catering to specific groups of fans.

Streetfigher would've been a huge surprise, but well... :D

I thought David Jaffes game at the end looked incredible. Great art and looks like it could be good fun.

Still, when I look at all the Sony 1st party studios I kinda wonder what they are all doing. There are quite some unannounced projects and I kinda want to see them.

Overall very good for a "not E3 conference".

Bloodborne looks awesome and has a randomized dungeon that will give it infinite replay value, Shovel Knight and a bunch of awesome looking indies are coming to PS4, The Forest looks fantastic, Day of the Tentacle remaster is being made, Grim Fandango is coming out very soon, No Man's Sky still looks fucking incredible, and I'm getting PvZ for free. Great show.

Also this is a fan event, they have e3 and other events to go to. Why would you expect this to be E3, if this is annualized and is successful then later THEN you can pretend it's E3. A big part of the disappointment is done by yourselves.

I loved it. I just wanted DMC to be announced and it would have been perfect but I give it a 8.5 they have room for improvement but I had no huge expectations.

Gotta agree, people need to tame their expectations. I too wanted a DMC game of some fashion to be announced, but what we got was pretty damn good. Tons of games coming to Sony consoles.

The troll still has me giggling.

So... "Worthy" and all the other "insiders" etc. ...yeah, "Megatons" and "Gigaton"...."blahblah approved" etc.

Guys, just keep this in mind:
Stop listening to all that bullshit and think logical. THEN, you will enjoy these conferences.

Got it? Okay!
Let's move on.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?

Lol. I think I entered that thread twice. And when I saw what was going on, I was gone. The amount of ridiculousness was too much to even press a couple of keys.

Some people are so "hardcore" they become their own worst enemy.

Insiders are there to hype anything. They are no better than the WOOOO guy at the Video Game Awards.

Conference was great bar the one obvious exception. Every bit as good as any other Sony show over the past few years for me.

Honestly thought all the hype shenanigans in the other threads was just that - a bit of fun. Seeing meltdowns afterwards made me realise that some poor kids really did expect all kinds of miracles... oh dear...

lol?

All I cared about was Dragon's Dogma and that got its patent renewed. So that was my 'reveal' of the week, didn't care for the rest. That was bonus

Have you even played one of those DVD games? That's exactly what the game reminded me of.

Killing Floor 2 and Yakuza were good megatons.
Fuck you Squeenix. I respect the troll though.
Bloodborne and SFV fuck yea.
The Order...ehhhh...I want to hear floor impressions now because that was really underwhelming.
I don't see why they didn't save that Uncharted gameplay for the end...like why not end on an epic note?! People want to leave feeling good.

I was feeling the beginning half just went all downhill from there.
This was the "nutted but she still sucking but you can't get it up anymore" of conferences.

Holy shit, wow. This might be the saddest post I've seen on GAF in a long time, hahahaha. Guy doesn't like the looks of game. YOU DON'T HAVE FRIEDNS!!11!!
It's not that you merely don't like the look of it. It's that you're basically claiming that it isn't a game and comparable to a DVD menu. The only sad poster I see around here is you.
Have you even played one of those DVD games? That's exactly what the game reminded me of.
You must have played some real fancy DVD games, because it was you know...nothing like those.

Yup, people getting overhyped yet again. I can only understand being upset at the FFVII troll. For the rest, pretty good show... maybe too long though

So which one was WorthyEdge hyping? For the life of me I can't figure out other than SFV......................

Whoops wrong thread. But any way I give it a 7 out of then because of Yakuza and Suikoden and SFV

I know they're kind of obligated to show them, but Sony seriously needs to find a better way to show off their indie games then with huge montage-like 30-45 minute segments in the middle of their conferences. I mean some of the games look cool (Forest holy shit) but I think they kill the pacing and really drag down the latter half. And I never want to hear the word "console exclusive" again.

Now in terms of games... Uncharted 4 looked pretty, but that's about it. Bloodborne's monster design looks ace. Until Dawn actually looks really awesome. The Order looks like a game I'll pick up when it's like $20-$30. And that Jaffe game doesn't interest me because I don't play online shooters anymore. I'm also not a Street Fighter guy. I'm pretty sure that was all that was shown.

So, not a bad conference, but not necessarily that great.

It was one of my stand-out titles from the show, a show it had lots to offer me as a gamer.

For people who can only get their kicks from AAA, well - my sympathies.

Why can't game conferences be like the Oscars or TED talks or something?

THe games were all right but the presentation itself is what kills any interest in them.

A big letdown. No Ratchet. I'm trying to figure out what the big reveals were supposed to be aside from SFV which is a legit big reveal for the ps4, which was already spoiled yesterday. I fucking hated the FFVII thing, not because I expected them to unveil a remake. I did never expect that but the way the handled that... Damn. Kind of expected to see more new games like Horizon. So, E3?
It's never gonna be enough for me no matter what event it is :D

Extremely disappointing. This is supposed to be a celebration of 20 years of Playstation and the very first Playstation Experience. They needed big guns and to play up nostalgia. Instead they wasted like 40 minutes on games that have already been talked about 100 times (The Order 1886, No Man's Sky, Destiny, Arkham Knight etc.) they show an interesting yet too lengthy demo of Uncharted 4 that would have been better saved for E3, and then downright INSULT us with that Peter Moore segment and FF7 segments.

The ONLY decent things/nice surprises in that entire 2 hour conference were: Ono with SF IV/V, The 3rd party relations guy (the one wearing the fedora thing) segment specifically the part with Tim Schafer, and the last segment with Jaffe.

Everything else was corporate garbage, lame jokes, and indie games that could have easily been shown in a cool 2 minute montage instead of being stretched out.

Couldn't agree more.

Lesson learned..NEVER EVER get excited about any Sony conference in the future, they trolled me really hard this time.

edit: eh..and what about this tweet?
