By CC do you mean chain combos or custom combos? Because I want the former, but not the latter.

Isn't air blocking already confirmed?

customs. always a ridiculous mechanic.

i didnt notice air blocking in the trailer... maybe i missed it? certainly hope it isnt in.

guard break is cool though.

You misunderstood my post, my mistake for not clarifying, all my friends hate Smash 4, well most of them. They'd rather play Melee and PM. Some are still struggling, hoping for the meta to improve throughout the coming months, its a fun game though so it'll garner its audience.
I'd be pretty hype if Nintendo did something acknowledging PM instead of ignoring it but knowing how IP's and business works, that ain't ever happening ;_;

Are you serious about air blocking? God dammit.
What exactly is bad about Smash 4 is my question? Coming from someone who never played smash competitively... Is it worth it to get into Smash 4 if everyone hates it?

Never heard about confirmed air blocking before in SF5. Source?

I think I may have misheard someone, nevermind me.

EDIT: Oh now I remember, it was a picture that looked like air blocking, but really wasn't.

EDIT: I still refresh after every quick-edit.

Oh yeah, I think that was concept photos for SF4

You'll always have me to play. <3

Unless your connection sucks.

That muscle memory.

I no longer F5 after editing, but I still get this confused look on my face when it refreshes on its own.

Personally for me, I'm indifferent, the game looks alright but I like PM's feel more but would not mind playing Smash 4 casually. My friends have played it and they say they don't like the general direction of the game, feels like a Brawl 2.0 with a few of the quirks taken out from the original Brawl. Additionally, their mine gripes about the game is that it takes too long to kill someone and ledge mechanics drastically changed, essentially equalizing it so opponents have a much easier time returning to the stage and the player has less opportunities to prevent the opponent from reaching the edge. If you want to get into a Smash game, check out some videos on VGBootCamp on YouTube and see which one floats your boat. I can't recommend Brawl, even though I played it to death, tripping and general floaty-ness killed it for me. I'd recommend trying Melee, PM and Smash 4.

Guard break sounds like an excellent idea. It will take away from the monotony of constantly blocking and add some needed fear. You can't block your way out of everything in SFV from what its shaping up to be from the trailer and should certainly make it more exciting.

I think we played a couple times in USF4 and it wasn't bad with PSN lag so probably wouldn't lag in Smash 4.

Quote, PS4 right? I hope you're upgrading to that. My Gief needs to dance with your Ryu once again. Also, I thought people here would be a lot more hype for SF4 PS4 and PC online players being able to face each other?

The only thing I really want out of SFV is for defensive play to be less strong. Whether that means better offensive options, or weaker defensive options, I don't really care. It really sucks to be down on life when the opponent outranges you in footsies. It's actually just goddamn boring.

Great! Just make sure you are wired!

I'm pretty sure folks got hype for it and called it a megaton. Not much more to say beyond that.

Also I finally got the cash to justify putting a new desktop together so I guess I'll be back to posting dumb shit in this thread super often again.

This needs to be posted here too.

Fighting games have long been plagued with stupid bitch characters and Tekken is no exception. Lucky *KAWAII* Chloe, is the antithesis of manly violence, the focused embodiment of everything that's wrong with Tekken, the polar opposite of everything that is cool about fighting games.

Through the twisted looking glass of a fever dream Namco was able to conjure a skinny white girl that spins and flips and pirouettes while flapping her little hands and improbable angles, and we the Tekken audience are supposed to believe her unlikely gesticulations are inflicting damage to badasses like Heihachi, Brian, and Paul? If this doesn't bother you, you are the problem.

Every time someone wins with Chloe the gods of Tekken die a little. This is the King of the Iron Fist Tournament, not the Newport Beach Cotillion. This is a game where dudes punch each other in the face and stomp each other into the ground. If rhythmic gymnastics is more to your liking, go attach a pretty ribbon to a stick, put on a sundress, and go frolic in a god damn field. Your bullshit has no place in the world of Tekken.

Is that why people are mad at that character? I mean I didn't read the thread, but I kinda assumed that people were gonna be mad because liking 16 year old catgirl titties is sexist nowadays or something.

Plot twist: the catgirl is the Muslim character's waifu.

Combofiend said that tweet was a mistake. USF4 will not have cross play.

I'll be getting it for PS4. Just need to get a stick. Looking forward to playing sony players I haven't played before.

I just watched her trailer because of this, and she has normal looking attacks. I dont see a problem with troll characters. Hell, a lot of fighting game characters are questionable in different ways. Some are just more blatant.

Am I the only one who hates guard break? If blocking is too good, your game has serious underlying issues that need to be addressed. Buff mix-ups or other offensive options instead!

Having a guard bar is bad, just punishes you for properly defending yourself.

Unblockable setups or specific guardbreaking attacks are fine though, especially if it's in a game where blocking is a strong option.

It all depends on how much it takes exactly to get a guard crush. That's what needs to be fine-tuned. Nothing wrong with the mechanic itself.

Proper defense isn't just blocking. Then again this is also a reason to reintroduce Zero Counters.

It depends on the game. Technically, Smash has guard break, and it is basically a necessary mechanic. Most Smash players think the shields need to break even faster in 4!

i think this is valid but i still like the mechanic...it makes footsies and pressure kinda intense and every exchange even if blocked becomes meaningful. its a cool little extra thing for people to consider so i dig it.

GG does something like a guard bar but it instead of getting guard broken it just increases the decreases the scaling/can lead to multiple counter hits in a row if you do get hit ... i think that is the coolest system ever. makes blocking scary but its not as cut and dry as a normal guard bar system.

If guard crush is caused by draining guard meter (where anything can drain the bar), it's almost safe to expect Alpha Counters to be in.

Hard to think of too many fighters where they had no Alpha Counters in a game with Guard Crush.

Edit: If air blocking does make it into SF5, I wouldn't mind it. It didn't ruin the footsie game of Alpha.

Alternating mainline SF games between a slower style and a faster one seems like a pretty good idea in terms of keeping the audience happy.

Damn what a weekend! So much new information. Shame SFV is PS4 exclusive.

I'm not really into it myself. Turtle/Defensive style is a legitimate play style.

i like this, but the game didn't look too fast based off the trailer. But that can change easily,

Regarding Smash 4's shields, the regen/drain isn't the problem. It's the lack of shield stun, imo.

Having it drain or recover fast wouldn't really help the game, imo.

The shield drain/break rate is fine. It's the regen rate that needs fixing!
My fault for not being clear, but this is what I meant.

Then again, M2K got shield broken in tonight's tournament. DK's down B is serious business.

I think cutting the regeneration by 50% would be fine.

Yeah, ita already been said, but usually if theres guard bars then there will be alpha counters as well. Thats pretty standard from a lot of different fighting game developers.

Or, SF and VS. Which is more likely a strategy because there is way too much time between SF titles and a lot of crossover.
