I kind of want to get Kenichi, but it says $20 for each season seperately. Hm...

Hey guys, is Digimon Xros Wars (the 3 seasons of it) worth a watch? I'm going trough all the Digimon's seasons to prepare for the new one and was wondering if Xros is any good.

Been catching up on the new Hitsugi no Chaika season. Really liking it.
Maybe I will read the light novels some time.
Also, I finished Cardfight Vanguard Linkjoker the other day, after a Vanguard hiatus for like a year. Now to watch Legionmate next. Though I am disappointed to hear the newest series doesn't have the old characters as the protagonists.

Also I just found out there will be a new Milky Holmes series :D

The problem with her character is that literally nothing she does makes a lick of sense and this problem gets worse when you get through her character arc, not better. Seriously, there is no cogent reason why Saber wants to redo the selection, and for some insane reason none of the other characters ever tell her how dumb her motivation is, nor the fact that England is still a thriving first-world country. Ironically, several characters tell Shirou off for his weird shonen-hero acts, yet Shirou is considered a way worse character than Saber is for some reason.
O_O
No, you are the one that doesn't make a lick of sense.
You realise Britain was invaded by Germanic peoples right? And that they took over the land, replaced the culture, language, etc? That's why we speak English today, a Germanic language. King Arthur fought against the invaders, the Saxons, but eventually lost, and the Anglo-Saxons took over and settled in Britain.
Like, cool, England is a thriving country today. But 'England' didn't even exist in King Arthur's time. Hell, the name England itself comes from the German tribe Angles, one of the tribes that invaded Britain. I don't see how the knowledge that the people who conquered her people and replaced their culture etc, founded a prospering nation, would be any form of solace for her.

Majin Bone Episode 37

That Liberto sama outfit change, I love it whenever things make Shougo blush. The way they draw blushing lines in this anime his hilarious.

Fantastic episode. I need the OP and ED theme.

The same could be the said for any of the "ancient" Servants like Ishkandar or Alexander, all empire eventually crumble or are beaten and replaced by other newer empires, and they aren't emo because of it. :p

First season is alright , it's not great , but they were trying cool things and setting things up. Not great , but not BAD.

Second season is GREAT , Borderline awesome at times with good fights , cool transformations, awesome music , very fun story

Third season had a lot of potential but they just let it go away .. i still don't understand what happenned considering what they had to do and what they didn't do.It bombed SO HARD the last part was canned

IN short , watch the First 2 seasons ( 50 eps ) and ignore the rest ..you'll thank me later .

Guys, my friend is raging like hell to make me watch this Gundam: The Origin thing that will launch in the future. Is it going to be worth a watch? I never watched Gundam before, so that's one reason that he is bugging me.

Hm, I'd probably pick up the manga instead if I were you, Vertical's hardcover release of it is beautiful.

Series Composition: Norimitsu Kaiho (Nitroplus)

It seems like it's just lending his name. The main script writer likely will be that one.

Like duckroll said, for example you'll usually find manga authors on top of the list credited for the original, in this case it's Butch for the game. Sorry I probably phrased it poorly.

Did those servants care as much about their kingdom and people as Saber does? Every body is different. Saber became king of her own choice. She chose to pull the sword out of the rock. Her mindset was difference. She became king specifically to make her country better and lead it to victory. However she lost and her kingdom perished. She has a very strong sense of duty and responsibility over that. Also, it should be noted (Fate route spoilers just in case)
Saber is not dead. She is still 'alive' in her time, and trying to get the holy grail to give her kingdom a better future than she did. The Saber in the holy grail war is the exact same King Arthur as the one still laying there dying. While Alexander on the other hand, is just a copy of the heroic spirit Alexander, which is why he would have no memories of the holy grail war or anything if he were to partake in it again. Totally different situations.

Ef - A Tale of Memories 03

Well, that's unfortunate.

Renji just assumed that Chihiro wasn't going to be there because it rained? Ok...

We get to know why Chihiro got that eyepatch and that there's been an earthquake in the town, a strange girl with a hat keeps appearing and Kei finds out about what happened at Christmas.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
And again, her kingdom was conquered, the culture of her people and their language wiped out. To what extent were they killed off horribly or just put into slavery or servitude is an on going argument and one without a definitive answer but those were clearly not very happy times for them. I don't think it's much of a stretch that she feels regret over this, especially since she seems to spend all her free time in some Camlannesque time limbo.

Yeah well, that's how shit goes. Its not like anyone ever tried to reason with her that times were shitty for everyone in the 5th Century or whatever and changing the selection of the King would likely not have resulted in a better outcome. Its not like her intended wish was even sensical if her goal was actually changing the outcome to happy fairy magic happy land. I'm just saying Shirou never actually bothered to discuss the implications of what she wanted to do in the first place.

If I didn't know better, I would assume she just wanted to absolve herself of personal responsibility rather than actually prevent any of this from happening. But its Perfect Waifu Saber, so I have no reason to believe she's anything other than completely earnest.

You're ignoring the whole bit about how the Saxons, Arthur's enemies, eventually took over Britain...

I liked the speech, but I don't think the execution was that great. It was clearly written as something improvised, with awkward pauses and such, and yet the other characters just watched and watched like it were a formal speech. It just seems rather artificial when played out like that on screen, even if the speech itself was good.

Even regarding the speech itself though, I think a big factor in enjoying it is identification. I could identify with what he was talking about there in some ways and so I enjoyed it. However, if there's no identification, I think the entire episode probably would seem like a giant waste of time.

Yeah, but when was that relative to the alleged reign of King Arthur? Lots and lots of shit happened everywhere in the last 1200 years or whatever. Saber's concern over the long term consequences of anything don't appear to be relevant at all.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm starting to get kind of interested in anime and I'm wondering if I should watch DragonBall since its kind of a classic. If so, should I bother with the original Dragonball or skip straight to Dragonball Z?

It depends what you're looking for: Dragon Ball is kind of comedy-fighting hijinks; Dragon Ball Z is just straight up fighting and power levels. Very little of what happens in DB is legitimately relevant in DBZ because it takes on a very straightforward "fighting the big bad" structure, and almost none of the plot requires any particular knowledge of the first part. I'd say most of us who have seen DBZ probably saw DBZ first and didn't feel we missed out much.

You're also going to hear the opinion there's a better use of your time than Dragon Ball, which I can't necessarily disagree with. A lot of the Dragon Ball hype is nostalgia from watching it as a kid.

Xros Wars is really two different shows (the third 'season', Young Hunters whatever bullshit the rest of the title was, I can't be bothered to look it up, is a new story that was added at the last minute after the show had already finished).

As far as the first two season, which make up the actual Xros Wars show go, I enjoyed the series, but it takes awhile to get good. The first 12-15 episodes really drag and are pretty formulaic. The show starts to find its feet after that, and the second season is pretty good and more in line with classic Digimon (although they still have a lot of the weird combining/transforming stuff).

The third season, Hunters, is 100% garbage. It seems like they decided to greenlight a new series at the last second based on the success of Xros Wars, realized they didn't have any ideas for plot, so started stalling for time with filler (and I mean filler from the very first episode of the show), and then lost all their popularity and got canceled before they could even start the 'real plot', whatever that would have been. Stop at the end of Xros Wars and forget the fact there is another 26 episodes.

Haha. Kinda weird.

Anyway... Hiro seems to be throwing away um... is it bills? And him and Kei isn't actually related, right? Both Miyako and Kei makes food for Hiro and one of them is better than the other at doing that.

Well, you're bolding three points here and saying they don't make sense, and only referring to the last off-hand comment. It doesn't change her motivation being terrible.

Current England aside, the more salient point is that whether she redid the selection or not was almost assuredly irrelevant and she had no reason in particular to believe that she had personally done something that would have been corrected by someone else. None of this ever gets pointed out because nobody ever has a serious conversation with Saber about her motives. The fact that the English territory was conquered several times in the next hundred years should have been some kind of clue here.

Really, the best reason we're given for Saber's personal failure was that her personality sucks, yet she has a consistent belief across the Fate universe about how the King should act (i.e. just like Saber, which Rider-Zero points out is stupid).

I mean, I've played Crusader Kings II a bunch and I can confirm that when you play as England all that happens is that you keep getting invaded. That's just life!

Trinity Seven 10

Hijiri's still around, that was expected. Wasn't expecting her to also be a Demon Lord Candidate. The endgame is set to begin. The action's alright, but the interaction of the members of the Trinity Seven is the main attraction of this. Lilith is still as fun to see flustered as she was at the start of the series.
And going by the next episode preview, she's back, too. Knew they wouldn't just leave that plot thread hanging.

Instead, you should watch Hunter x Hunter (2011)

Ooh, this show! Not a bad choice.

Aura: Koga Maryuin's Last War

So I decided to watch this, after hearing multiple times that it was an anime that took this whole "Chuuni" thing pretty seriously.

And I gotta say, I was pretty impressed. They didn't waste time with jokes or anything. All the characters really did feel grounded in terms in how serious everything was handled.

I'll be honest, the definition of "Chuuni" in of itself has kinda confused me when I first heard of it. There appears to me multiple definitions for it online, but what it apparently all boils down to is, as the film makes clear: "someone believing they live in a fantasy world". Which I didn't think too much about, until one certain thought came into my mind.

So...was Buzz Lightyear a Chuuni? Was that entire subplot in Toy Story pretty much a Chuunibyo wake-up-call story for toys? Are there other Toys that have Chuunibyo delusions in the Toy Story universe? There must be, considering Toy Story 2's Buzz Lightyear.

Anime just made me associate the Chuuni term with Toy Story. I don't know how I should feel about that.

But nonetheless, Aura's a pretty good film. I do have one big complaint on how the main girl
was able to construct that entire castle of school desks near the end of the film (I mean, nobody saw what she was doing? Nobody tried to stop her? Hello? Girl building giant desk-castle on the roof of the school would kinda be hard to miss!)
. But I digress. The movie takes itself pretty seriously, but not so much as to make it a boring melodramatic slog. I liked it.

Skip straight to the Abridged Series by TeamFourStar.

Well... Can't say he didn't deserve that...

Guess there's something sad that happened to Kyosuke's mother then, and we see exactly what happened between Kei, Chihiro and Hiro in the past. Some funny stuff as well when Chihiro visits Renji at home.

I think more people should watch Dragon Ball. It's where all of the series best fights happen and it still has that sense of adventure that Dragon Ball Z never really had.

You should watch Team Four Star's Dragon Ball Z Abridged if you want a laugh.

She thinks she was unfit to be king, and thus by redoing the selection, someone who actually was fit to be king would pull it out after she passed
I don't see what the big deal is with her motives really. She was the king of her country. Ultimately she failed, and her country perished. She feels responsible and wants to fix it. It doesn't really matter that the 'territory' was conquered numerous times over the course of history, or whatever. We are talking about her country, her people. To her, one second she was laying wounded after the last battle, and the next second she is in Japan fighting in a holy grail war.
The history of her physical land after her passing, is I'm sure, irrelevant to her.
In any case I don't see what is so stupid about her goal. If another king is selected, and he also fails, well then, it's not any worse than the situation Saber already ended with is it? But if there is a chance a better king is selected, he isn't betrayed by his comrades and kin, and he manages to lead his people to victory against the Saxons, then what is weird about her wishing for that chance to come true?
You can argue that Shirou should/could have made better arguments against her wish, but really that is the fault of the writing, not a fault with Saber's character. I just disagree that her motivation is terrible. Her motivation is to save her kingdom.

I just thought the original point of 'Well England is doing great now she should be happy!' was kind of dumb. I've seen it said by a lot of people over the years. It would be like if I was the ruler of Japan today, fighting off an American invasion, ultimately fail and be betrayed by my own people like Saber. I travel to the future, and hey now Japan is filled with Americans and everybody speaks English and eats cheeseburgers and there are no Japanese people to be found and Japanese culture is gone. Just because the people inhabiting the current land are prospering doesn't mean I would be satisfied with the result.

Bahamut 9

I didn't like the episode, it was too rushed. In a few minutes they
escape the castle, they reach a weird forest, Kaisar find them (that was fast!), they fight, they are teleported? suddenly, they talk with an infodump/quest giver dragon, all one scene after another, no breathing allowed. And in between they even got to advance the other plotline, they accuse Joann and the demon? tempts her.

But the real problem is that now Amira is a less interesting character that when she was a mystery at the start of the series, and one pretty one-note. And the plot of BahamutBahamutBahamutgodkeygodkeygodkey is boring.

Ef - A Tale of Memories 06

WellThatEscalatedQuickly.jpg

Love triangle drama then. That Kuze guy got schoolgirl uniforms from the nearby school. Uh-huh... And why are you asking so many questions you don't want the answer to Renji?

Yona of the Dawn and her Harem 10

Hak had me laughing the entire episode. He totally had a heart boner when Yona was telling White Dragon how important he is to her.

Even though the show is sorta low budget, its still greatly entertaining.

Read or Die 09-11

An adventure in the underground ruins, the Paper Sisters' backstory and a farewell to Japan. The first one kinda reminded me of episode 5 with its adventure story, and the other two episodes gave plenty more heartwarming Anita moments. She's come a long way from a girl cursing God on Christmas for giving her a hard life. I like the little bit of development she got in 11 too, with her actively seeking out and reading a book for probably the first time, just to say good bye to Hisami. Looking at the end of episode 11, however, the action is about to be kicked up several dozen notches.

Chocotto Sister Advent Calendar Day 09

So Chitose has a dream where she's a fairy in the plant that Haruma got from Ayano, flittering around. That's vivid and a little odd, but also a way to signify hope, I suppose. The plotline wasn't quite resolved, but things are left open enough so that everyone has a chance for love in the future. I am glad they're taking a break from it, though, even for a hot springs episode. Choco having fun is the best kind of Choco. (Plus it means more Chitose and Makoto hanging out, and I want more of that.)

Probably the best advice DTL has ever given!

Dragonball is indeed a classic. I like DBZ for different (more nostalgic) reasons, but I think the manga is better for both.

I can't see how the manga can be better than the classic Canadian dub of DBZ. That's impossible!

Part of me really wants to pick up that "Rock the Dragon" DVD set that Funimation put out, but I really shouldn't toss money away like that...

Noragami - 03

Yato and Yuki now sharing body and mind result in some funny moments since Yuki is in puberty, and Hiyori is around.
Interesting that disorder among people means disorder in the heavens, and the 'income gap' between the gods. Yato's former Instrument ditching him for one with more wealth, who then mockingly donates to him doesn't make the situation better.
