AC UNITY patch worsens NPC pop-in. Ubisoft actually puts in new spawning animation.

I just don't get it. There are already plenty of NPC's that aren't visibly popping in, why can't they dial the NPC count a bit if only to get rid of the obvious pops?

I mean what the fuck.

This! Make a quick side quest where you accidently get the plague on your clothes and run through the streets. One big death animation plays for a third of the city, the morgue fills up and not only do you have room to run but people do't load in front of you as they are getting dressed.

Playing it now. Framerate is noticeably better. Game still looks like mud, online is populated again but still laggy as sin and the pop in is laughable but it's smoother at least.

Wait so is this actually Yves' account? I do feel bad if it is, dude's watching an entire forum rip his game a new one. Deservedly so, but still.

No he's just the forums biggest Ubisoft fanboy.

Are you telling me before the patch, character models would just pop up like that infront of you?

I bought this game for $30 as a gift and Im a little ticked I did. Only reason is because the person getting it loves AC games but I dont like to support this type of game/studio if they will rush a product out just to meet a deadline.

It's got bigger problems than pop in lol

While I find this all inexcusable on Ubi's part, I also feel like they are still working on patching NPC pop in and this was a quick fix till the issue has been resolved. Sad, but at least there is an animation to it. Before, there were just awkward and random appearances, which made it look far worse imo.

However, why the hell is there even more pop in? C'mon. Patching brought about more problems?

You know, I remember a day where games would have been recalled until it was fixed. The problem is simple, day 1 patches. Don't release a broken title and hope for the best, make sure of that shit going in. But then again it's not like this game hasn't been the subject matter of controversy sense it's actual announcement..... right.....

I want to see the receipts. Because I don't remember those days. I remember plenty of buggy ass games throughout every single generation.

I've played this game for 40 hours and never before have npcs literally popped up in front of me and hindered my path like in the OP. There is pop in, but not like in the OP. Not from my experience.

Having a bunch of combat glitches where my attacks aren't registering and enemies are clipping through the environment. I thought it was happening because I was playing an online heist, but it's happening offline too. Game is still buggy as sin in many places.
Also the combat execution animations are still an absolute waste of time and that the game prioritizes them is fucking dumb. Yes of course I want to waste my ammo to finish a guy who's health is already at zero.

Yeah the OP modded the game to fake the gifs and webms. Dat shady op.
You may have jumped the gun without seeing if it was a widespread issue or just an isolated one.

What? What finishing move uses ammo?

Holy shit, did they took my post about implementing musou spawn style to heart? Lol

I wonder does having faster drives makes a difference, people should post what they have inside their PS4

If an enemy is in a 'downed' state, and you're nearby and try and shoot at an enemy the game will automatically shoot the downed enemy. It's not a specialized animation just a regular gunshot. However if you do attack, it'll do an execution move which takes a few second to kill them. These downed enemies will fall over and die even if you don't attack them, but the game still forces you to execute rather than attack any other enemies first.

Also if you do an execution there's a delay where you can't dodge of about a second where you can walk but can't dodge roll so enemies can get a free shot on you. Not only do the executions take up time they can leave you vulnerable too.

hate how all of you think this world of AC are like other games...

you swear you are in france when its a animus memory recreation

No isnt the memory from a guy about this, is a Autocad version of

of what happened, so this glitch situation its actually cool

I still think crowd needs to be 75% erased And only simulate large

crowds in cutscenes. Oh well a other AC is coming in 2015.

Not sure if any of this was in English.

Wow that's horrible.

Shadows, NPC'S and world detail all popping in at very close range. Wouldn't even expect to see this sort of stuff on low settings.

I never try shooting downed enemies due to manual aim. You can parry while executing, parry priority>everything else during combat when it comes to response. A quick tip is to wait til the reticule glows red before using dodge. Didn't know that guns automatically execute downed enemies. It does that even if another enemy is highlighted?

Honestly can't tell which replies in this thread are sarcasm.

Also had no idea people don't forgive open world game LOD fade-ins anymore. I'll take it over a pop, loading screen, enforced slow walking or prolonged elevator ride any day.

Yes even enemies are highlighted your attacks will prioritize finishing blows which is very frustrating and the game isn't exactly a third person shooter so switching to manual aim shouldn't be necessary. You can't dodge post-execution which is an issue as parrying bullets doesn't work very well. It's just bad design: he shouldn't use flashy execution moves until it's the final enemy in a fight (like Arkham) or have invincibility frames and proper recovery (like Bayonetta).

Combat is glitchy as hell after patch. I'm in the middle of skewering an enemy, my spear is through them and they'll instantly transition to the middle of an attack and hit me without any counter meter showing up. I had an enemy grounded and suddenly they were standing upright stabbing me. It's like heavy lag but I'm offline. and I just tried to dodge and got put into cover instead. Oh god this combat engine is broken.

The patch is live on Xbox One in the UK - but 40gb. Yes, 40gb. Proof: https://twitter.com/nexusfandom/status/545089455364009984

HAHAHA What the fuck?!?!?! 40gb for a patch?!?! The UbiSoft shitshow continues to impress.

Edit: Oh ok so it appears to be a bug with the XB1 OS and not an indication of actual download size. Well then. I guess I'll just have to content myself with the new UbiSoft warp factor NPC teleportation mechanic. I'm just waiting for Q to pop in at any moment and say something witty.

A: We believe that Patch 4 should resolve the bulk of the known issues, which includes online play. The objective with Patch 4 is for it to be the last patch we would need to apply, although we will retain devs to handle anything else that might come up or remain to be fixed.

That is not something we can promise, however, since all code contains some bugs

.

Yea I usually have no issue ignoring the downed ones. I manual aim for for far away enemies, they can't hear very well, I was basically saying that I don't use the gun very often during combat. Unfortunate about the glitches tho, I haven't been experiencing them but I won't pretend like people don't.

It's a known bug, you'll only download the 6GB of the patch, apparently.

Not true, I'm monitoring the Xbox One network usage and it's burned through 11gb so far downloading the patch.

Also, it isn't the full game (the full install, even from Blu-Ray at launch, is bigger).

It is the actual download size. It does not appear to be an XB1 OS problem, but instead an error in how Ubi applied previous patches. Hopefully we will get confirmation soon.

Update 12/16, 5:15pm PST:

We have received and confirmed reports that some Xbox One players who have previously applied Patch 3 are seeing a 40GB download instead of the expected 6.7GB download. Unfortunately, an issue with the patch downloading process is replacing the entire game instead of just the parts affected by the patch. This is obviously not the expected behavior, and we apologize that many of you will have to wait longer than expected to complete this download. This issue isn’t causing any other problems and once the download is completed players will have the most-up-to-date and fully patched version of Assassin’s Creed Unity.

We are working with Microsoft on a solution to reduce the total download to the intended size so that you can get back into the game faster, but as of now we have no ETA on when this will be resolved.

hahah good lord, a bug on a patch to patch bugs.

This game has everything.

Everything wrong with 2014 AAA games in just one title, it astounds me. I do feel bad for hardcore fans or people who spent $60 to get a game in such a state.

The scary part is this is the game they bundled the most for the holiday season. This is some people's entry into this generation.

Holy fuck, bugs on patches as well? Lmao

This company. This fucking company.

Wow, really, as if bugs improved in patches is something new. To patch a behemoth like this without introducing some new problems is virtually impossible.

The arrogance of those who can only complain but probably never created something themselves which is even close to this effort is really making me sad.

This is what Xbone bundle owners get this Holiday season...why Ubisoft why?

Least they got ACIV which is good.

And until this all gets fixed, I won't be picking it up for my PS4 either. First mainstream AC I'm skipping.

I mean... the game just should have been delayed to next year, like Watch_Dogs was. They didn't have to release it. But, ya know, holiday season and $$$$$ and all that.
