DQ8 remake for PS3/4....I'm pretty sure about this.

I have a feeling you might have nailed it.
Because Square-Enix have been really making lots of remasters.
They said they want to bring the past FF series to PS4, so maybe they want to do the same for the DQ series. Main aim would probably be for the the market in China, since PS4 plans on launching there.

DQX producer wouldn't be teasing a DQ8 remake/port.

It's pretty clear it's something he should've announced himself (as DQX producer), but Squeenix (or Horii himself) wanted to do it differently.

Only a port of DQX fits the bill, and he's actually "teased" such a port at TGS.

Well I sure hope DQ8 gets remastered on consoles but I guess it's got ported to mobile recently so chance is quite slim IMO.

Yeah this may be it. Another possibility is huge expansion pack announcement for existing DQX.

Ooops, wrote DQH instead of DQX in my previous message.

Horii will be at the stage event tomorrow at 1PM JST. It's quite long, 1h30 (vs 45mn for today's). So yeah, at the very least, a major update is coming.

DQXI might be teased in some way, as DQX was teased for Wii way before its formal announcement.

So apparently, DQX producer really wanted to say something during today's event at JF15, but couldn't, but maybe Horii will say it tomorrow (during the DQH stage event)?

Gee, I have no clue what he's trying to get at.
It says "チラッと", so it sounds to me like Horii will only tease or reveal a bit of info, instead of making an official announcement.

DQ11 hype train. I mean, the demo today against the big boss battle had all the characters at level 11! That of course can only be hinted at DQ11 as it is a large scale next gen game!
vuI8bSo.jpg

And the battle against the smaller enemies all the characters were level 5! DQ5 was voted as PS fans most favorite game. The small enemies symbolize the smallness of the old DQ5, compared to the hugeness of the Gigantes i.e DQ 11!

Such beautiful symbolism. It's happening!

Maybe Level 5 means that Level 5 are developing Dragon Quest XI. :O BTW you can't link the images directly from 4Gamer.net.

Hino says that Level 5 are aiming to release a new game in 2015 that will surpass Yokai Watch in popularity!

Could this be the PS4 game they are going to reveal in E3 2015?

Have I missed something? A new Dragon Quest game is being announced later?

I'm so far out of the loop. Will it be Nintendo consoles only or are we expecting a platform shift?

What concessions? DQ's Squeenix franchise, and they don't need neither Nintendo or Sony for it (not in Japan at the very least). They could put wherever they damn please and it's not like neither company can say anything about that.

Also, the franchise isn't going anywhere.

It's time!

Attack of the Friday Monsters! 2.

Where do I send my CC number?

And I strongly doubt whatever Akihiro Hino is referring to will be more popular than YW. Like, no way.

IIRC he said in his last interview a while ago he was thinking up their next crossmedia franchise, but while games only take 12 months to develop, animes take 18 months, so I would guess a 3DS game. Given the sales ambition to boot 3DS makes vastly more sense unless he thinks he can be huge in the West.

Do you think it's unlikely he'll pursue another cross-media multi-platform strategy like Ni no Kuni, by being on both portables and console?

Maybe it's an amiibo franchise!

Maybe a DQIX port too for the 3DS, I'm sure Nintendo aren't willing to let the franchise go without some concessions.
Nintendo doesn't have to fight for a Dragon Quest game.

DQXI 3DS would probably cost less and sell more than DQXI PS4.

3DS would seem like the most logical choice but there seems to be a lot of (potentially misplaced) confidence in the PS4 from developers. I wouldn't be surprised if they give the console a crack.

Yeah but lets be honest DQXI isn't going to be a 3DS game either way... that ship has sailed.

Yeah Horii made that quite clear in that recent interview. DQ isn't beholden to any particular system and each release is decided based on what platform they think is most suitable. DQ Heroes was mainly because Omega Force wanted to develop on those platforms(but also because of the power they offer).

Ni No Kuni wasn't a cross-media effort (no anime, no manga, no toys, etc), it was more a vanity project.

Should pursue another vanity project then.

This time with Mamoru Hosoda. =)

Horii has confirmed they were aiming for a 2016 release.

Hmmm, 2016 is dangerously close to the expected launch of the 4DS .

I wouldn´t be surprised if DQ IX ends up on all systems that will be capable enough to run it. ....say....PS3/ PS4 first and 4DS later .

Actually, 2016 is the 30th anniversary of the Dragon Quest series, which is probably why they're targetting that year.

If Dragon Quest XI isn't multi platform, the reveal thread will be such a Bayonetta 2-like meltdown.

I hope they announce it soon, because it's a pain to see port begging for a game that hasn't been even properly announced...

It's always good to set realistic expectations for yourself ...

ushiro's novels came out earlier this year
If they didn't shoot for the stars the industry would be in even worse shape.

Imagine what this year would look like without Yokai Watch on the software side.

I feel half the issue in the Japanese market is that almost no one has these ambitions in Japan versus the West where even boutique publishers like ZeniMax aim for the stratosphere and ship over 20 million copies of Skyrim.

I ultimately feel that it doesn't matter if they hit their goal, just that they get a major hit and make consumers excited.

We can all point and laugh at Hino's crazy ass shenanigans, but I for one, am glad to see one company in the Japanese games industry showing some ambition. Good luck to Level 5, I say!

The game is on 3DS and the Wii. It can easily run on Vita and Vita probably has more active/potential users than the home consoles.

Level 5 is probably the only third party publisher who's number one platform is 3DS. I think that helps them a lot.
It's also kind of insane that only one publishers focuses on the best selling platform.

Vita can most likely run Dragon Quest Heroes and Koei Tecmo loves to make PS3/PS4/PSV games, but the game is just for PS3/PS4.

If DQX is released on PS consoles I expect it to be for PS4 only. Depending on how long S-E plans to support DQX on Wii, it might be coming to PS3 too.
